His predator then promptly reconsidered his options and directed him to get the fuck out of dodge.

Rolling away, he lurched upright and bailed for the nearest dark alley.

Marcus grabbed a half piece of brick. It would do for now. Putting a little more blood into the wound Marcus got to his feet and made sure he kept the Texan and the woman between himself and the man with the tommie gun.

The mountain man buried his hatchet in the small of Wright's back, severing his spine. He pulled it out and swung again, this time severing his spine just below his shoulders. "Go check on Sally," Iron John growled to Big Dog. The big ghoul lumbered forward toward the alley as the mountain man pulled out a stake.

Jason had been prowling around when he heard the shots. He had shot over via the rooftops. The scene before him was... messy. He spotted Wright and saw his hand go flying. Time to get in and kill something. Snarling he leapt from the roof arrowing in on the big man with the axe.

Wright howled in pain as he was cut down. Flopping to the ground, he began to slide toward frenzy.

Again.

Jason's tackle sent them both hard into the cement, although he got the advantagious upper position. The vampire was enormously strong, about as strong as he was. The hatchet had skidded away in the collision. The vampire shouted "Big Dog" and attempted to fling Jason away.

Jason snarled, slapping away his oppotents attempt to fling him. His knees slammed into the body of his enemy. He grabbed his foe's head one hand hooked under the jaw and another wrapped around the back of the skull and pulled up and away with all his strength roaring like some monster out of myth.

Marcus grinned, tentacles, an old trick but a good one. Two formed out of the shadows beside the man with the tommie gun, Marcus put a little more effort into these two, making them stronger than the usual ones. With a quick movement they grabbed the feet of the man and yanked hard. Dragging the man off of his feet and slamming him into the wall feet first.

Jason got lucky. Iron John was fast, far faster than Jason, but he didn't realized what Jason was doing until too late. And while he was as strong as Jason was, Jason was burning as much blood as he could to augment his strength while Iron John was invoking speed. Speed which would not save him. His head came loose. Blood splattered Jason and the corpse.

The blonde screamed in rage and pain and opened up with his Thompson. Jason was an easy targets. Flesh was shredded. Bone was chipped and cracked. A round ripped through his heart, costing him a large quantity of precious blood and sending searing pain and waves of weakness through his body. His organs may have withered, but that one was still vulnerable to damage.

But there was still some strength in his battered and bloodied body. And rage. But in the state he was in, it might not be enough.

And that was when the beast that wore Wright's face lurched from the ground. It wasn't a lunge, but it was faster than a stagger, as the frenzied Brujah re-entered the fray.

Wright got a boot in his face for his efforts, his mobility hampered by his spinal wounds, but he did manage to buy several seconds by taking merely superficial damage. If his brain had been operating on any level above berseker, he would have noted it as a fair trade.

#1437 And I ran...

Post by Bratty »

Cassie runs as fast and far as she can, letting the blood of the ancients fuel her limbs. Her instinct for self preservation is at its height. She does not even notice the beating her feet are getting. If she could just get to a road and flag down a cab, or a passerby...or perhaps get to...

A church.

The priest had told her where to go for Mass, a sanctuary for the soul.

Sanctuary of the body, is what she seeks this night.

She turns the corner and begins down the road towards the church. Its large steeples can be seen for miles around.

When she gets to the church, she stumbles up the stairs, her robe dirty and bloody from the various events of the night. She opens the door, shaking and alone. Dowsing her fingers with water and crossing herself, she heads down the aisle...past the pews, falls to her knees, her hands fold in front of her, her head bows. She prays with fevor and desperation alike.

Please, don't abandon me now....

A boot was something to grab onto. He seized it with both hands and used it to pull his opponent closer to him, closer to that vulnerable throat...

His fangs were out, his face a vision of bloody, bestial rage.

She prayed to herself,

"Show me a sign. Anything. Your will be done. Mary, please help me in the hour of need"

Mary laughter echoes inside Cassie's mind. "You want help? Put a bullet to your brain. That would help a lot of things."

"I am afraid," said a voice behind Cassie, "that there is no one here who can help you."

He rolls off the woman and stands to his feet, backing up slowly. His hands balled into fists, mind already planning a new course of attack.

The shaven headed negro opens fire on Holden with his tommy gun. Most of the bullets miss and ricochet of stone. Two go through Holden's chest and another tears through his right forarm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cassie sees an indistinct shadowy figure. That shouldn't be. There was more than enough light in here, but it was. "The god of the world will not help you. Those that came before have no desire to help you. What will you do woman?"

Cassie blinks at the darkness, and, like a child, reaches out to touch it.

Mary, however, pulls back the hand as though it were getting ready to touch a stove. "Help myself."

Holden falls back a few steps, grunting as the bullets pass through him. He looks around for something to hide behind, or anything for that matter. The open alley was a dangerous place to be, although clutter of any kind would work.

The shadow laughs. It is cold and cruel. "Then why are you kneeling here in the temple of a vain, deceitful god?"

Cassie responds quietly. "Mother Mary gives me comfort. She watches over us all." Wide eyed, and brilliant shining.

And then Mary rolls her eyes.

The shadow sneered. "Crawling on your belly to a lie. How pathetic. The priest begged me for mercy before I finished with him. How much comfort did he recieve? By the way he begged I would have to say none at all. Shall we put your supposition to the test?"

Jason dragged his broken arms under his body, it seemed to take hours. Pain wracked, blood soaked endless hours. He needed blood and he needed it now!

Jason gathered himself and pushed with all his strength to get to his feet...

Cassie looks directly into the darkness, "Of my own free will, I will never beg for mercy from the devil." Her heart is beating in her chest. Has she gone completely mad?

Mary whispers in her mind, get up, get out of here. But her words dwindle in the background. Mary has no faith after all.
