I am so screwed but I have to do what the character would do, protect the weak and down trodden.

Let's have a looksee as to how many raiders there really are.

Spot Check:
Those who do evil to others...the killers, rapists, psychos, sadists...you'll come to know me well. Frank Castle is dead. Call me....The Punisher.

The world will look up and shout Save Us and I'll whisper..No.

*looks at the evidence thus far*

Why are we so certain that they are raiders?

Well, your right Charon, that is a very valid point. I sure hope they aren't.

You see about five men on camels with two or three more camels without riders. Three of them have shortbows raised.

Speaking of which.

Attack1:

Damage1:

Attack1:

Damage2:

Attack3:

Damage3:

Also, would it be safe to say that you weren't wearing leather armour out in the middle of the desert?

Not necessarily, the armor would be modified to be suitable for desert conditions. Who are they attacking? Me or Utanka?

Utanka.

EDIT: And I decided to just bvpass the whole armour issue for the moment as one was guaranteed to hit, one to miss, and the third one would hit if Grath was flatfooted, so I ruled that he more or less was flat footed against ranged attacks due to not being able to see properly.

I really really appreciate not having a paladin anywhere in sight right now...

It may be a restricted class but I'm sure AN and I could work something out if you feel the lack CT.

Well, if a player were sufficiently inclined then I'm sure they could come up with some way of playing a 'proto-paladin' of sorts via other classes and through roleplaying rather than direct class attributes. It would definitely something that would need to be talked about though.

Well, I love it for the simple lack of readily available detect evil. I mean... damn is that a thorn in the side of my LE manipulation fiend.

For those of you native to desert environments, you know what this signal means without a check. For those of you not native to the desert, a DC 10 Survival Check is required. As for what it means...

You might want to seek shelter

So what kind of knowledge do I gain from that?

You gain the knowledge that the horns signify that a sandstorm is approaching and thus shelter needs to be sought immediately. You also know exactly what sort of shelter you can acquire out here in the desert and can quickly assemble it from your supplies if necessary.

Oh, I didn't realize we were close enough to the city to hear the horns.

It's being repeated across the entire region by everyone who hears it and has a horn of their own, and you're fairly close to the city. You can see the hills and pyramid from the tops of the tallest dunes or on ground level enough that dunes don't get in the way. And the sound is designed to carry far and wide.

Also, in general, the situation will be like this:

Charon and Comrade Tortoise will ride out the sandstorm in Thoth's villa.

Utanka and Haizu will ride out the sandstorm in the wilderness using Meexyaalm's wilderness skills.

Jason_firewalker and BadgerMan will ride out the sandstorm in an inn they both happen to be at.

.....Impromptu shelter? What, a bunker?

You CAN survive sandstorms in the desert, if you cover your face, wear long clothing, tie yourself to something, and cross your fingers and hope for the best. But it ain't gonna be pleasant. And a shelter? What did you lot have in mind?

Have a very nice day.

A heavy blanket lashed to the storm side of the wagon. Cover our faces and hands....you can figure out the rest.
