Mike reached the van, opening the doors and turning keeping an eye on Alpha. He sighed, and smiled. "So much for us detaining it." He said with a chuckle.
As he waited, he reached in, to his bag and pulled out a water bottle, opening it and taking a drink.

Legion uncrossed his arms as he walked back to the van, sliding into the drivers seat.
Truly, not a optimal situation, but mission over.
It was a shame he wasn't Ultima....the team needed a leader. But Inferno might make a good one....given the right coaching.

Sunrise was checking over the van, making sure everything was in order any and all gear stored efficiently for transport when Legion slid into the front seat. The back compartment was already open, so he hoisted himself inside.
"Look, a Ninja Turtle!" he thought to himself bitterly. Yes. He realized in retrospect that him interacting with the crowd was a bad idea. His expectations regarding human rationality were too high, something he did not think possible. He made a mental note to ratchet them down in the future. Oh and the shit he would catch.
He said none of this of course. And all things considered this mission went well. No one died (most likely) maybe a few injuries. Unlike the "subdue and scrap" idea which would have resulted in a lot of destruction. The huge gun on that thing could only be an electromagnetic railgun... And the mob could have rioted instead of scattering in a panic.
He would catch shit, but would be sure to point that out.

"Remind me to get you a orange headband when we get back to base.." Legion said, starting the van's engine. He was waiting, Gordan, Sunrise and himself were in the van, Gemini and Mark25 were on the motorcycle...the second one was undoubtedly Templars...and they had the flyer and Inferno..
"We just have to wait for the others...and make home with the nice robotic deathmachine out there.."

"It would go with my throat color" Sunrise replied. "Though a bright yellow would be better, and I prefer purples. Then again Michelangelo was the idiot of the bunch, and I certainly qualify. Those words will haunt me forever... 'Look! A ninja turtle!'. Bah!"

"There was a reason I did not project my avatar into the bank." NeXT said simply as his listened to his team. "Human-baselines react poorly to the unknown. Human-Metas and Human-Cyborgs upset them, therefore it was easily postulated that nonhuman entities would only provoke fear."

Saying nothing, Agent Templar simply adjusted the earpiece for his cell phone, put on his motorcycle helmet, got on his motorcycle, and waited for the others.

Begining to hover off the ground to an altitude of about eighty feet, Starfighter looked at the giant Omnicorp death wagon and thought to himself, 'Wow, I really hope that he comes over to our side of things.'
Winging over he started to hover over the top of the van and waited to see what the Death-O-Matic 5000 would say about him not entering the vechile as told to.

"Agent Starfighter, enter the vehicle immediately. I have not obtained air clearance for this mission and airborne vehicles in vicinity are multiplying. Chance for unintentional property damage is rising, chance for casualties near unacceptable levels, chance for further detriment to panic situation near one-hundred percent." NeXT said with it's normal montone. Al, of course, wanted to choke the stupid fucker. It shot the idiot down once, why the hell was he provoking it?

The robot's reaction was instantaneous.
The metahuman that had swept in ahead of time began to lift up into the air, regardless of both the orders of its superior, and the robot's own insistance and warnings. Without hesitation it raised its main body and weapon arms and fired both splatterguns and its taser at Starfighter. It considered lobbing a pair of stun grenades fused to airburst as well, but judged that such an action carried too high a risk of panicking the crowd further, as the grenades would sound like enormous shotgun blasts.
Besides, the taser/splattergun combinations had worked well enough before, and this time the metahuman was barely levitating.
As the metahuman fell out of the air, Alpha stepped forward, reached out with one manipulator arm, and picked him up off the ground like a boned fish.
"You are under citation and detainment for attempted public disturbance," he said to the goo-smeared and electrode-stunned metahuman, "and for failure to obey lawful commands from law enforcement units. You are hereby remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Metahuman Affairs pending charges or disciplinary action."
With what could well have been disgust, the robot then summarily dropped Starfighter onto the ground in front of Inferno.
"Remand him to your superiors, and return to the BMA branch facilities immediately. Further violations of public order will be met with force."

Gordon sighed, shaking his head, walking from the van towards Inferno, Starfighter, and the bot. "I'll take him from here, Inferno. I promise though, if he moves or says anything in the van, I'm hitting him with a stun blast." He grumbled the last part. Reaching down, Mike grabbed the stunned and gooed meta and hauled him to his feet, leading to the van. He waited till he was sure Starfighter would hear him. "Now just sit in the van, keep your mouth shut and don't fucking move, or I will hit you with my stun blasts." He threatened, hoping to scare the meta into submission.

Inferno had been about to speak when the robot acted. That was going too far. Inferno turned back towards the robot. "Thank you, but if you touch my men again, robot, and we will have words. Do I make myself clear?" He stared hard at the robot for a few seconds before turning to Mike. "Do so."
Inferno got into the van and sank into the chair, muttering to himself "Jesus Christ, Hawk is going to eat me alive..." He looked over at Legion in the driver seat, "Get us out of here, take it slow. We don't want this thing deciding to go off now that we've finally got it going in the right direction."

Legion shifted the van into gear, running the flashers to signal a "all clear" to the vehicles infront of them.
Thinking, he touched the comm button and spoke clearly, "Omnicorp Sentinal-1 Unit Alpha, you are call-sign Alpha. Agents Mark25 and Gemini, you are call-sign Charlie, Agent Templar you are designate Bravo, BMA van designat Omega-1. Fall in for return to Ultima HQ - three meter trail, Omega-1, Bravo, Charlie, Alpha in that order. Authorized to run limited code."
"Agent NeXT, plot and clear most efficient route back to Ultima Chicago HQ."
Legion waited for NeXT to plot the course, before he pulled out, keeping the van at a easy pace. No need to startle anyone more than nessacry now they had the machine in tow.
Legion looked to Inferno, "You did good out there kid....though really...we should have clarified a Chain of Command.....sorry if I stepped on your toes when the panic broke out. Just training kicked in."

"Acknowledged," Templar said, moving to his position behind the van in the procession. Soon, this would be over, and they'd only be haunted for months by the media about it. At this point, that was acceptable to him, just to know that this whole morning was over with.

"Routing you to HQ at most efficient path. Systems realigned to keep roads clear. Request permission to load into HQ and begin self-diagnostic and mission-review operations." NeXT requested, as lights flickered to green in front of the van.

The robot seemed to consider this for a moment. "Your meaning is understood," it finally said in an oddly flat tone, one that did not appear to be hostile or aggressive. "This unit requests a deferral of 'words' until all metahuman agents have been returned to local BMA facilities."Charon wrote:Inferno had been about to speak when the robot acted. That was going too far. Inferno turned back towards the robot. "Thank you, but if you touch my men again, robot, and we will have words. Do I make myself clear?"
The robot stood up a bit straighter, and slid the covers on its guns closed. "This unit cannot exceed velocities of 20 miles per hour over pavement without causing superficial damage to the surface structure. Unit requests that escorting vehicles maintain this maximum velocity as well."
It fell in behind the other vehicles and proceeded behind them at the exact minimum safe distance required to be able to stop itself should the vehicles ahead stop suddenly.

Inferno looked over at Legion. "No problem, I've never had to lead before."
He looked back at Mike. "Knock out the hard head Mike. He's going to start learning a few lessons."

"Acknowledged NeXT, your cleared to upload and begin your diagnostics."
Legion flipped the channel, replying to Alpha, "Affirmative, we will maintain 20mph through the city."
The van pulled forward, and the Ultima agents, with the killer Omnicorp deathmachine in tow, headed back to base.....
Forty-five minutes later, the van turned into the car park, as Agents lead Alpha to the appropriate areas.
"After this morning..I need a doughnut and a cup of coffee...." Legion said, parking the van and climbing out after shutting down the engine.

Mike stepped out, grabbing his bag. "Fuck coffee, I need a beer." He said. "Be back in a second." He told the team, heading to his vehicle to drop off his vest, then returning, the go bag slung over a shoulder, watching Alpha as it followed the team.

After carefully parking his motorcycle in the designated parking area and making sure it was secure, Agent Templar approximately followed the others of his new team back to the office.
The damned fuzzy part of his vision that meant his body was whining again about not enough sleep was kicking in, which meant coffee was needed, and now. Making a beeline to the cafeteria, he ordered himself another very large coffee with two spoonfuls of milk and sugar. After sipping it gratefully, as if it were the very ambrosia that kept the universe going smoothly, he went directly back to his new team's office to await hearing how very smoothly today hadn't gone.
Reaching the office, he simply flopped into a chair, wearily withdrew a tablet PDA and pen, and waited for the others.

Agent Hawk was waiting for Alpha and the others at the motorpool entrance. Once the mech arrived he stepped forward. Behind him three men dressed in scientist chic, obviously a geek squad from MetaTech.
"Omega Team, you are to report immediately to Room 318 for debriefing. I will give your debrief shortly. Inferno, Legion, wait for me outside the room. I'll speak to you two seperately beforehand."
Turning to the giant mech, Hawk introduced himself.
"Unit XC-001 Alpha, I am senior field agent Hawk. I appreciate your assistance in returning this team to us and preventing them from causing inadvertant harm or destruction to the area or its populace. You have my thanks for that.
"If you would allow my technicians here to examine you and preform authorized maintenance at your discretion, we would like to debrief you on the situation as observed by your sensors and take statements so we may properly file charges against the individuals you arrested. We also desire your analysis of Omega Team's actions during this encounter. If you would assist us in this matter it would be much appreciated.
"So, may we have your permission to examine your chassis and begin damage analysis along with this debriefing?"

When the flyboy took off, Heidi had just stared at him in disbelief, before the robot once again easily took him down. She said not a word for the rest of the trip, her body tense as Mark25 drove quietly back to base.
Dismounting, she only nodded when Hawk told them to report for debrief. She retrieved the laptop from the van before turning and stalking out of the motorpool with undisguised disgust. Only once she got into the room did her anger explode.
"WHAT THE FUCKING HELL WAS THAT STUPID FUCKER THINKING?!?!" she roared, turning and punching her first through the wall in frustration.
He wasn't, obviously. Rather like Templar and his job offer. You know they'll dock your pay again for that, right?
Heidi pulled her arm back out of the hole, no sign of damage to herself. "Let 'em dock it. Better the wall than that fucknut's head."
*sigh* You're right. So.... did -anything- go right this mission?"
Her need for violence briefly sated, Heidi spun a chair around and sat down heavily, setting the laptop on the table and opening it, but not using it. "Ask Hawk, not me. I think it was a major clusterfuck all around."
Well... the robot followed us....
Heidi's derisive snort was all she thought needed to be said.

Mark 25 rode back to base with an obviously bad attitude. He didn't respond much to Gemini outside of very terse responses. As soon as he arrived, he parked his bike and waited for Alpha to come in to the motor pool. Once the robot arrived and Hawk began to talk to him, he went over to the van where Starfighter was currently recovering from his second humiliation of the day. He picked up Starfighter again with one hand and held the bound blaster up to his eye level. "You are lucky to be alive. Agent Inferno, shall I take Agent Starfighter to the infirmary or a holding cell pending review?" With any luck, the disgraced agent would have enough sense to keep quiet for the time being.

Mike headed to the room, taking a seat at the table and pulling out his notebook. He smiled, watching Heidi punch the wall, and through it.
"Look, it's not the end of the world." He said, interjecting himself into her conversation with her other half. "So flyboy made a giant mess of things, and Templar and Turtle weren't much better. The important thing is no civilians got hurt, we got the kill-bot home, and we're all back alive." Mike grinned. "And Ultima can't dock my pay for how bad today went."
