So, let's hear the lot of you... should I start with torture?

It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

Who would you be torturing and why? If you're doing it just to show off that your character's a sick fuck, then definitely not.

It is what he does. Path of Night, he saves people's souls via contrition.

The afterganger joins us. It occurs to me that I'm the one with the best chance of surviving a holmgang with him.,

I didn't say a confrontation, I said a holmgang. It's a very specific type of Norse duel. The rules do not favor those who lack war gear, Potence, and Fortitude.

I got a little sword knowledge, I've got a little Potence.

The Fortitude I lack.

Also the shield and the mail shirt. Holmgang is ridiculously macho (and thus utterly Norse) with the opponents literally exchanging blows one after another and dodging forbidden.

The 13th Warrior bit wasn't a holmgang, but there was a significant resemblance. In some versions of a holmgang, each fighter has a shield dude whose job it is to take the blow. The word for single combat where two people just go at is einvigi.

Either way, you are correct. This is not something I would do myself.

Especially with a Low Clan.

An amusing anecdote from the "Wolves of the Sea" book, which goes over Norse vikings. For the flaw "Outspoken Pagan/Christian". "Note that Outspoken Christians are still outspoken Norse Christians. You are expected to holmgang for Jesus if you believe in him so much. Don't laugh, it happened in the real world."

I like the Vengeful Family merit. Wolves of the Sea is one of the best source books they've ever written, in terms of accuracy to the base material.

This is also why many Norse crucifix were suspiciously similar to a ThorsHammer.

In SCA, I've seen one that was made to be worn either/or. You simply turn it upside down

Charon, if anyone's stupid enough to attack her on the street in the middle of the night, they deserve what they get.

Athough I do wonder if I could entrance one to follow me and present him as a gift of refreshments for the Court....

Of course. But I will point out that it would not be a good gift to give. Feeding at court is considered rude, and to offer sustenance to the Prince might be suggesting that she is not up to the task of getting the food herself.

A minor note for those of you with retainers/servants. Don't forget that they do have names, so name them. Doesn't need to be fancy, first names would likely do in most cases.

See, this is why I suggest it here first, as I'm not up on what's kosher in the Dark Ages.

Guards: Juergen and Nils
Archer: Thomas
Technician: Niehuis

Then there is the hired help and house servants upon whom he does not feed. I will name them as appropriate

With the current timeframe, my character will be arriving tomorrow night.

Um... Tev, he couldnt care less about the sins of vampires. Vampires are damned, damned! He wouldnt bother chastising you. Unless he was just trying to get under your skin...

never mind, that is something he would do.
