He finishes working the crowd for a bit, and breaks off to head for the office, leaving them in his wake.

Now is her chance. She walks as carefully as she can up the stairs to the office and enters, shutting the door behind her. She rests on her hands behind her backside resting against the wall. Despite the booze, she has an intensity about her she never possessed before all this happened. A desire. She watches him, waiting for him to acknowledge her presence, noting Marcus' presence as well. Damn! Is this ...thing...ever alone?

Marcus looked up from the desk. "Your good friend Gennas said make peace with O'Banion or get buried."

Wright shrugged. "Works for me. Think they'll work a sit-down?"

The Lasombra nodded. "Probably, but I wouldn't take my word for it." Then he turned and walked out the door.

Wright started to follow after him...

He pivoted at once and leaned over her, hands on the wall over her head. He leaned down close and smiled, a hint of fang flashing out with the smile.

"What do ya need?" he asked solicitously, using the same appearance of interest and attention he used on the crowd below.

Marcus was thankful that the woman spoke. I guess she was good for something after all. His clothes were torn up, which did a mixed job of keeping the women away or getting them to fawn over him and ask what happened. Any who did were told bluntly to piss off and go wrap their legs around someone who wasn't cold. Marcus headed down the stairs and walked outside into the brisk night air.

She grabs his hand from her chin and shakes her head. That ain't gonna cut it. She is careful not to look into his eyes. She feels she could get lost there.

The train from who-knows-where just rolled in, a bunch of yokels getting off the cars and gawking at the city's lights. One figure slides from a car that must have been populated by the dregs.

Well, it used to be so.

Along the way, Holden Puryear had felt a bit peckish. The pair that get off don't seem to have been bothered in the slightest. Holden himself heads into the shadows at the edge of the platform, pulling the collar of his overcoat up over most of his face. Straight to a nearby hotel with only a suitcase in tow, a few extra dollars set aside to make sure he is not disturbed...and then the furniture re-arrangement begins. Heavy dressers in front of what would be open windows, blankets and other types of shades over the rest. The clothes are stripped off, and a brief shower later to cover the stench of death, the man reappears outside of his room, short black hair slicked back, wearing an evening suit and tie, a crumpled paper sack underneath one arm. The new man in town pauses to toss the sack into a trash bin, and catches the next cab to one of the happenin' spots in town.

His smile broadens as his hand snakes around to grasp her wrist, lifting it high over her head and pinning it to the wall.

"I'm alive," he said. "Where a lot of dumb fuckers aren't. And the people around me who know their places get to be alive too."

He leaned closer. "You know your place yet?"

Hard to breathe. She can feel her heart racing in her chest, as she looks down and away from him.

"You ...didn't ...answer the question." The alcohol and this presence is a bad, bad combo. She suddenly feels a tightening in her stomach, as if she had felt the drop of a rollar coaster ride.

She wasn't quite sure when he got there, but he was whispering in her ear. "I don't answer the questions. Read your Nietzche, doll- I'm beyond good and evil. Now, you answer my question..."

The grip on her wrist tightened slightly, a reminder of the bone-crushing strength in his hands.

"Do you know your place?"

Nietzche? Her mind barely wraps around the word.

Her chest raises and lowers, still careful not to look at him, she closes her eyes.

His whispers cause her to literally shiver up her spine and across her body as her mouth opens, air escaping from it, " Ahh.." A breathless sound.

"Yes," she whispers. She knows the place he wants her.

Then, suddenly, it's like the spotlight has turned off of her, as he releases her hand and turns away. He turns to walk out the door.

The cab took Holden down into Chicago proper. "This is a happening place Mac. No trouble with the cops either. That'll be four bucks."

As he leaves her, it takes her a few moments to compose herself, her hand runs through her hair, feeling a pull within.

Then, it is gone. She looks up and around, and her eyes narrow. Damn him. He may have won the battle...

She moves from the office with newfound determination. Different scenarios forming in her mind...

"Excellent, my good man." He slipped the man a few straightened-out bills, and leaned forward. "Any places you'd recommend up front from a fella straight out of town?" He allowed his eyes to wander the busy streets... oh, the sheep. It never changes. A pretty pendant on a gold chain seemed to slide from his hand, a presumable offering.

Then he suddenly whizzed by her to grab the phone, remembering that he had come in here in the first place to make a call.

She smiles sweetly at him as he whizes by. But she does not follow him into the office. Oh no. She has an agenda. And as he will not help her with it, she will seek elsewhere for her answers. She looks around the club from the view she has for Helen.

Let's see... from the way the Freak bailed, he probably hadn't gotten on so well with them.

He seemed like a smooth character, but... well, there was that whole 'give me a hand' thing with Haakon.

Yeah, probably better to act oblivious to whatever he'd done.
