Ok, this time I promise not to be my normal "That Guy" self. Also, B4UTrust, terribly sorry about last time. Friends?

Covers only. The covers can be instrumentals if you wish, but the one rule is it cannot be the original band. To get you lovely people started.

Lacuna Coil, they're so Goth they probably shit bats, but damn I love their stuff.

PelleK, this man has some of the finest lungs on YouTube. I care not what you say, other than "Bon Jovi fucking rocks".

Dynamite Hack _ Boyz in the Hood. And then I let the Alpine play, I was bumpin' new shit by NWA....

Toss some stuff out peoples. Rock my junk. Rock your own junk. Just rock some junk, yo.

No worries, man. Water over or under bridges. Whichever is appropriate.

Though we do have to toss up one of the best covers of all time... I love Reznor and NiN, but Cash owns this song hands down.

I was gonna post that too...

Great post, and if I may render an opinon... Cash did it better. When that man sang about pain and hurt, you goddamn believed it. Tren, not so much.

Now, I;ve got a user challenge...

Who is the better cover: This episode, Micheal Jackson - Smooth Criminal.

The Original MJ. Let all challengers beware of the Smooth Criminal.

Vs.

Alien Ant Farm . Nu-metal at t's simultaniously finest and least self-mastrubatory.

Which is best? You decide....

Oh Cash definitely did it better, no doubt at all. Hell, even Trent said that after seeing Cash's music video he felt like he had lost his girlfriend because the song wasn't his anymore. He wrote it, but it was Cash's song now.

Yeah, Cash is probably the most pathos-fill human in our history. We lost a damn good story-teller/song-writer that day.

Now, back to AWESOME covers. Let's kick it old skool a tad. How old? Let's watch VH1's "Where Are They Now: 1700s" with Antonio Vivaldi and Summer.

First the orginal:

Hauntingly, heart-aching beautiful. U mean the music, not the blond playing the violin. Though, to be perfectly fair, she adds... So much to this. Yum.

Now for the ImageMETALImage version:

Awesome guitar work. Balls out the best attempt I've listened too. Regrettably there is no hot blond in this video. Sucks, I know.

Librium Arcana! Choose which is the best! Cover or covee!

Ok, so y'aall don't want to comment or are unable as yet...

Well, kids, particularly of my age ...

Enjoy the silence.

The Original. Goddamnit, Reagan, you could have shaved us from this! DAMN YOU!

Tori Amos... You supremely talented creepy bitch...

Yeah, yeah, Lacuna Coil. There ya go, ya Hot Topic loving bastards....

Which version Reigns supreme?

Okay, might as well throw some what the fuckery into the mix.

Kings of Metal: MANOWAR

And now, the cover, by A CAPPELLA METAL BAND* Van Canto.

*okay, they have drums, but that's it.

On a similar vein to Hotfoot's contribution is Grave Digger's Rebellion and its cover by Van Canto:

In both song's cases I find the Van Canto cover to be the vastly superior version, to the point that it obviates the need to ever listen to the original. There's no getting around the fact that Van Canto is just better at the whole singing thing, which in my mind more than makes up for the lack of electric guitars or other fancy music tech stuff. Incidentally, Last Night of the Kings is a pure a cappella song by Van Canto, no drums.

You magnificent bastard... Great tries, both, but my gut wants to say MANOWAR! MANORWAR! MAAAAAAAANOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAR!

Lys wrote:On a similar vein to Hotfoot's contribution is Grave Digger's Rebellion and its cover by Van Canto
Not sure if you're a sir or a mame, so I'll default to sir. No offense, just the way I was raised, please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is a massively great contribution, sir. I dug the shit out of them both, but I have to agree the second was arguable superior. It just "sang" more, not sure if that makes sense, but to me it did.

So, LibArcs... Up next: SLAYER!

Lys is French for Lily, and in my experience men tend to get real upset if you call them something like Lily.

You could have just said "call me mame/miss". Can I just call you babe? baby? You seem like a Babe. Meh, correct me I am wrong/offend.

Just saying. Also, just saying YOU FUCKING ROCK! Seriously, great songs, babe.

Old blue eyes.

Or this chick, that briefly made me forget how much I fucking hate covers of this song. Than she opened her mouth and lovely things poured forth....

In other words, Kiss me...

I other words, I love you....

FLY ME TO THE MOON....

Yeah, just wantched that "canto" vid, and...

*edit because I'm an asshole*

Yeah, I can kind of get why Canto never became a thing. That was pretty terrible.

wait, that's not a cover...

But this is!

I think this band's drummer might actually have five arms. Or else he's using his schmeckle to hold an extra drumstick. Also, gotta remember to remove the "s" from the http thingy or else youtube don't like to play.

Not the caffeine, mame. It's called 1. High functioning alcoholic, and i really goddamn hate Canto. The first I can massively, profusely apologize to you for. Please, I am sorry for lashing out at you like that.

That said...

Canto is literally the worst fuckin thing to happen to music since Enigma.

Yes, these useless dicksucks. I used this CD to get laid more time than Fratboys used roofies.

Canto is the same shit, just with a new name. It's songs to commit date rape by.

Again, I did not mean to be a dick to you, but Canto...

Really? You're better than than, mame. I believe in you. Post so and prove me right.

Also, is it wrong I still get a mild erection when I here that song? Must be a Pavlovian thing. Certainly used that CD to get laid enough. Enigma in the 90s + Mom and Dad being out of town = My dick was so wet the mississippi flood of 93 was entirely my goddamn fault. Well, mine and Missy Adams. Goddamn did she have great tits...

Tell me why i like this video. Besides her amazing rhythmic sense? I've got money says you can guess, but never get it right.

Alcoholic I'll give you, but high functioning is debatable. Still, it's amusing to see you be all excited and pumped up by Van Canto's music and then just go flying off the handle when it dawns on you that it's them. That's some irrational hatred right there.

Now back on the subject of covers, House of the Rising Sun is so old that the original version is unknown, but the cover by The Animals is most famous.

And here's a cover by Five Finger Death Punch, posted mostly because I really liked the video. Actual cover stars at 1:50, but I suggest watching the whole thing.
