As for Nit... I've told him and told him to get rid of the neck-beard and just trim it to his jawline.
Hope you like the new pic better

If he's never seriously given a go at growing out the man-stache, I say go for it. Every guy needs to do the wolf-man thing and not shave for a few months at least once, even if they go clean-shaven ever after.LadyTevar wrote:As for Nit... In that case, I'd say it's time to fire up the weedwhacker. Sorry Nitram, but you've passed the Mountain Man stage.LadyTevar wrote:I will hold him down and shave him myself first.

I think more shocking than the beard, personally, is the fact that he's willfully out in direct sunlight. I thought for sure the man would burst into flames or at least char a bit when exposed to the harsh gaze of the day star... Lord knows I damn near do... =(

Also present in my last couple of pictures is the radio from hell. The radio that would never let me get a good day's nap. Or a peaceful cup of coffee. Or more than five minutes of fucking lunch before I had to go give an orientation or take somebody to the ER.
I hated that radio. I tried to kill that stupid radio. I dragged it around by its cord and kicked it. I dropped it off a twenty-foot truck. I stomped it. I dropped it in a damn puddle.
It would not die. That radio was a warrior. I can respect that.

What gets me when I look at those shots is how puffy-eyed I am. Man, I could not wait to get away from that job. But yeah, that is pretty much what I am.

Good God man, why would you ever want to do that? You look manly enough to shatter stone with a glance, fell trees with a shout, and put hairs on the chest of every person in a three mile radius.Josh wrote:Three weeks or so and I can finally get my fucking beard-forest trimmed down.

Also, yes, in the interests of staying in character I did mostly just lug that rifle around with me all day. As shoulder pieces go it wasn't that bad, just a bit unwieldy from the shit balance.

Post a picture post-trim. I want to see how much you take off the beard, as I'm thinking you'd look nice with it lying close to the face, and no neck-beard

I've never tried the no-neck-beard experience. I might just do that.

Funny story about my beards throughout my life.
I started in with beards when I was in my early twenties, mostly out of laziness about shaving. Then as a truckdriver it just sort of fit the lifestyle.
(I also had hair down to the middle of my back and typically wore lots of denim. I was a flannel shirt away from full mountain man stylin', which is funny considering I live on a flat plain.)
Kept the beard after I got off the road, until I got into hazmat work and had to ditch it so I could wear respirators. That was the first time I'd been cleanshaven in over a decade, and I did it at the end of November and going into the teeth of one of our colder local winters right as I started work in the windiest place in Texas. So it was a bit of an adjustment- even in a warm room a breeze on my face would give it this weird chill. Outside it would even hurt a bit.
However, I got used to being tidy and cleanshaven and all that, so even after I quit I kept it up. (Albeit when I was back in college I'd sometimes let it go for a day or two which I didn't do on the job.)
Then when I got into my current gig the various women in my life pointed out that being bearded gave me a certain medical gravitas.
Honestly, I was reluctant at that point because as I said, I'd gotten used to being tidy-faced. However, that brings us up against the other oddity of my life.
Sans beard, I have something of a babyface. In my bearded twenties, everyone tended to overestimate my age, sometimes by as much as twenty years. However, after ditching the beard to work at the plant, everyone started undershooting me by a decade.
However.
Even with the beard, I routinely get accused of being in my twenties these days. Even though there are some pretty obvious gray hairs here and there. (Not just obvious to me, back when I was in school one of my teachers started giggling at me in the hall and said that I had this long white hair sticking straight out off my chin like it was saying 'Hi!')
I think part of that is my youthfully ebullient attitude, and the other part is my propensity for wearing goofy shirts and dressing totally casual in my day to day.

Just to give you an idea of how badly people misjudge my age these days, one of my tai chi classmates wanted to introduce me to her granddaughter, who is considering going into PT, for 'career counseling'.
However, it was obvious she had a bit more in mind than that and so I sort of worked my age into the conversation with the grandmom. Kid's like twenty, and I'm literally old enough to be her father. She was all "Oh, I thought you were like 24!"
So yeah, that put the kibosh on that little matchmaking attempt.
