Undoubtedly my favorite Garth Ennis or Steve Dillon work.
Anyone else given it a read?

Yeah, I read it up to the second-to-last graphic novel.
My feeling was that it started off leaning too heavily on the 'crude to be crude' motif, hit its stride, then started tailing off a bit as it seemed like he was losing the thread of the story.
But I dearly loved the Saint of Killers.

See, I've only read the first three books. And being heavily into theology as I was for a number of years, I find the interaction between the heavenly side and the humans to be crazily inventive.
Should I not finish? :/

I've read the whole series. Some of it is quite interesting and good. Then entire fourth volume, in my humble opinion is god-awful, as it doesn't contain to any of the 3 leads, and has far too much of the (as Petrosjko said) 'crude to be crude.' As I recall, those stories weren't written by Ennis, though, which may explain it: they didn't quite have a handle the material.
I also feel it declined as it progressed. The stuff involving Starr past the halfway point was fairly uninteresting and low-brow, to me.
Finish it, I suppose, for closure, if nothing else. Preacher is a comic book that I've seen carried by libraries, you may want to look in to that.
A really excellent series these days is Y: The Last Man. I would highly recommend it. Any who hasn't already heard of it or read it should do so...now.

I've heard of it, but I've unfortunately been unable to get ahold of it. :/ Damn the Patriots! (Hence is my reasoning behind everything.)
I really liked Cassidy's backstory, regarding the Empire State Building and the like. And the build-up regarding the angels and whatnot to Jesse's actual merging with Genesis.
Too bad it started to suck, then. Meh.

Can't get a hold of it? No comic shops in the area? If so, that is both a shame and a bummer. But because I am such a wonderful gent,
here is a link to a pdf of the entire first issue, courtesy of Vertigo Comics.
