#1 Transformers: Impact on the world.

Post by frigidmagi »

For clarity I am discussing mostly the G-1 transformers and story.

This springs from a discussion Cat and myself had over AIM. Basically imagine the political and moral effects of the Transformers running loose on earth. While the Cons would be doing hit and run attacks, the Bots would be trying to stop them and aiding humanity whenever it was possible. What does this do to humanity in general, aside from the military effects of their war?

How popular would Prime become?

How many folks will distrust the giant talking alien robot from space?

How does this impact our politics?

Would there be cults?

(Seriously I have a hard time not seeing a Prime-Cult springing up in Japan or even India).

While I imagine Prime and most of the Autobots would try to stay out of human politics, the press and others would be pushing hard and any stray remark or idle comment could be used as fuel for the fire. What happens if Obama or Edwards gets a Prime boost?

I think prime could be more popular if he were real than he his now, though I don't really know how that ratio would compare to how many would distrust him.

Of course, if he well more liked than distrusted then I think he would have a large impact on political opinion in the sense of like what you mentioned, 'backing' a particular political candidate.

And of course there will be cults.
There are always cults.
