#1 New Transformers Cartoon

Post by LadyTevar »

There is a new TF cartoon in the works, created by the folks that do the Ben10 cartoon.

Trailer shown at ComicCon

Watch first. Save opinions for after you watch the trailer.

My Opinion:

I'm going to withhold final judgment until I can see more

I've seen the Ben10 cartoons that these people put out. While the animation is awkward, the stories have been rather solid with real background, growth for the characters, and there are plot arcs that come back in interesting ways. So, story-wise, there's hope.

But the little girl they show in that trailer is just fugly.

I'd have to see more to form any more then a passing first opinion. And based off of what I saw, the animation would immediately drive me away from it. Don't get me wrong, I like anime and I like cartoons but there's something about that style of animation that just annoys me.

Considering that I can't stand anime in ANY form, and that I've never seen a single original Transformers cartoon....

The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

Optimus Prime with a power axe? Someone's been reading too much WH40K and has confused him with a berserker of Khorne.

Actually Cpl, Prime had an energy axe that would come out of his wrist in the first cartoon, Megatron had a flail, so it's no big change there.

I'm not crazy about the amination style honestly but I can hold judgment.

Well fuck me, it's been so long since I saw the original cartoon I'd forgotten.

It was in exactly one episode, that axe, but it's one of those things fan latch onto.

To the point where even the live-action movie had both Prime and Megs wielding those weapons.

Optimus' axe was in one ep. Megatron's flail/morningstar/whatever was in at least one other though this was I believe towards the later series, not the stuff that was broadcast in America.

Both also made the crossover to the dreamwave comics and the devil's due comics.
