I'm a bit bored so I thought I ask a question. Which would you prefer, elves or dwarves. Basically who do you think is cooler and kicks the most ass?

It goes to magic vs technology, I guess. By the way, isn't D&D dwarves somewhat immune to magic?
Personally I would side myself with the elves, though. Dwarven women have beard, for cyring out loud!

Depends, slayer dwarves (Warhammer) kick ass as do Lotr dwarves but elves tend to have a lot more magic at hand.
In a close up fight the dwarves would rip those pointy eared wussies a new one. 8-)

Yes, but so is the D&D Elf with immunity to Sleep spells and bonus on resisting charms and such. Also with 3rd edition Dwarves were given the ability to learn magic and take magical classes.

Pratchett Dwarves, just because of their bread.

Do Pratchett elves count as elfs or fairies or just psychotic little halucanating buggers.

They are elves, but i think they also come under the fairy heading as well, not to sure on that one.

Elves, but I like swords and spells. Note that I like ruthless, cunning drow bastards and arrogant, skillful Warhammer elves more than stereotypical D&D ones.

WH40k Eldar would give any sterotipical fantasy elf a good kicking.

Shadowrun elves all the way, especially the nutty immortals.
But in my role as Imperial Commissar, I am compelled to point out that the abhuman Squats served at the side of Imperium until they became Tyranid-snacks, whereas the foul Eldar are blighted xenos, cast out from the light of the Emperor.

I like both. From a purely D&D perspective, at least. Non-pansy elves are cool (i.e., not Legolas), plus elf chicks are the h4wt. And dwarves are just awesome.

Tie between the Shadowrun elves and the Discworld dwarves for kickassity (and using the Shadowrun immortals is cheating as they're Earthdawn characters).
A definite win for the Dandelion eaters on account of the women.
Sorry, if it's Liv Tyler vs John Rhys-Davies I know whom I'd pick. :P

The latter choice then? :P

Of course, it goes without saying I like the Elves, at least the LOTR variety (points at avatar). Even so, I have nothing against Dwarves.

Don't make me break out the transmogrifier batarang :P
The former, of course. Did you miss the bit about the Dandelion eaters?
When was the last time you heard
dwarves called that?

i've heared of them being called Gritsuckers, so they might ya know, eat all the dandalions, then think there's more undeneath and eat the grit...

And they say
I'm into convoluted explanations :P
But that reminds me-why are Elves so good at stealth? It's not like you need to sneak up to a Valendamned
lettuce...

Two reasons, elves actually prefer Auarchs and deer to plant life.
Two, you do have to sneak up on a Valendamned Troll if you wanna live to see tomorrow.

In Soviet Russia, lettuce sneaks up on you.*
*This bizarre nonsequitur brought to you be a rather hurried and somewhat befuddled Petrosjko. Have a very nice day.

Nevermind me. That's a D'n'D lettuce. Considering what D'n'D 'shrooms can do...

Never mind the vines, or the replicating compost heaps.
(Yes those really exist for you white wolf/rolemaster heathens
)

I like dwarves, me'self. Nothing like a musclebound badass who can double as a projectile weapon.
And elf women, for me, are generally portrayed as way too waif/slender to have the boobs I desire.

Ah, but anatomical and proportional realism is rarely considered in the creation of fantasy art. Case in point-
Admittedly though, a lot of elvish women are fairly flat.

That delectable peice of ass is from the Monster Manual as a Nymph.
And yes, I'd bang them all day and night. Blindfolded, so, you know, I don't have to save vs. my eyeballs exploding.
