Ok.. as a FinalFantasy Fangirl, I have to rate this a full-fledged Master All Materia (which was worth $1mil in game)

The story was just as good as any game story, let's face it most FF games have just as much plot as this one did. But DAMN it was nice to see this is full CGI! The characters and especially the scenery were damn near flawlessly detailed, the limit breaks stunning, with me trying to name them as quick as they showed them!

As Nitram will tell you (whilst rubbing his eardrums) I was extremely into it, shouting and cheering ... and finally breaking into tears, dammit. Zack and Aeris... :luv:

Popcorn movie or fan-service, who cares, it ROCKS!!

It was a well done movie, but because i'm the loser who was not familiar with the story from the start, when i watched it i had to keep poking my friend asking stupid questions. "who is that, what does that do, what are they talking about" ect.

The little recap on the DvDs was great for getting the un-initiated in the (kind of) know concerning characters. Plus it was just scenes straight from the game (those nostalgic old graphics and all) which made it a perfect time for answering the wonderful "Who dat?" questions.

If Aeris and Tifa weren't hawtties, I would simply rate it as impressive CGI. But since they are, I will be buying it at some point.

It was anime, and I can sum up most (but not all) anime with one quick thing: :wanker:

The action scenes, while being excellent CGI no doubt, struck me as Dragon Ball Z. Now, I can enjoy DBZ at times, and I enjoyed this movie as well, but still, the fight scenes, which composed the majority of the movie, were wanktastic.

I have to disagree with the story being as good as any game story: the real FF7 story beats the movie easily.

The good thing about the movie is it prompted me to play through 7 again, which kickstarted M3 devlopment, so it has kept me busy for weeks now, in fanboy mode. But if it were stand alone instead of being associated with FF7, I probably wouldn't care at all about it.

Of course it's wanktastic. It's based off a video game where all sorts of crazy wanktastic stuff goes on. Sure, I probably would think it was silly if I saw it standalone (I can only imagine what that prof was thinking...but I'll get into that in a moment) but I enjoyed it.

It's even cooler, though, if you can watch it on a massive...oh heck, I'll just link you to the website: http://www.asdl.gatech.edu/people/janos ... e_core.htm

That thing. We watched it on that, with the lights out and surround sound and profs and grad students occasionally walking in, getting a slice of pizza, occasionally making fun of us ("You guys are true nerds. I just wanted to tell you that") or getting confused (*Russian accent* "What is this? A movie?" "Yeah, it's a movie based on a video game." "Ooooo-kay. This is why you reserved the room?").

EDIT: Oh yeah, and one other person came in and said, "I'm pretty sure the designers of this place did not have this in mind when they built it."

Also, I cracked up with the Victory Theme cell phone tone. You can call it stupid, but I still think it's hilarious.
