This will be a repository for various sci-fi links to give members of LA some convenience in their web browsing.
TV SHOWS AND MAJOR SCI-FI FRANCHISES:
TV SHOWS AND MAJOR SCI-FI FRANCHISES:
- The upcoming movie, Serenity and the show that inspired it, Firefly.
- SCI-FI.COM's website on Stargate: SG-1.
- SCI-FI.COM's website on Stargate: Atlantis.
- MGM also has websites for SG-1 and Atlantis.
- SCI-FI.COM's website on Battlestar Galactica, AKA NeoBSG. Of particular interest is Ron Moore's Blog.
- Interestingly, SCI-FI.COM has a website on Farscape. I say interesting, because SCI-FI canceled this show for reasons that defy logic or taste.
- Here are some more sites, Farscape World, Farscape.Com and BBC Cult page on Farscape.
- Warner's website on Babylon 5. Also, Babtech-on-the-net is a good reference site for technically minded readers, while B5Tech.com is more graphically enjoyable but not as strong in technical information. An oldie but goodie, The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 is an awesome repository of online information relating to the show's production as well as a listing of important JMS (Joe Michael Stracynski) comments relating to individual episodes.
- Star Trek's official website. This is a reference site, but I don't think it's that good. Nice place for pictures though.
- Star War's official website. We all know SDnet's url, here is TheForce.net and the inimitable, the incomparable, the incredible Star Wars Technical Commentaries, maintained by Dr Curtis Saxton.
- Doctor Who, and more Doctor Who, and even more Doctor Who!
- The BBC's spy show, SPOOKS. Some might object to this being in the sci-fi forum, but when I went to buy the DVDs they're stacked in the sci-fi section. Anyway, it is a sophisticated show and you should watch it anyway. It's called MI5 in the USA.
- I like Isacc Asimov. If you don't, you're automatically a jerk.
- The Libertarian nutcase and sexist Robert A. Heinlein, who writes some awesome sci-fi. One of my favourites.
- Though I'm not a big fan, I must respect that he is one of the grandmasters: The unauthorised Arthur C. Clarke homepage, and a quotations page that can be used to find other authors and so on.
- Baen.com publishes some shlock standard sci-fi, but they distribute it freely on the internet, which is a pretty interesting and as far as I know, unique business move.
- The game, Traveller has an official website.
- Galactic Civilisations and its upcoming sequel, GalCiv 2: The Dread Lords.
