#1 Serenity Tabletop RPG

Post by Bratty »

I about creamed when I saw that they have came out with a Serenity Tabletop RPG system. However, before I shell out the $40 + bux and invest the time, has anyone gotten ahold of this beauty and gone over the game mechanics? Thoughts on the game mechanics? Are they fairly standard?

In purchased it. I have not had the oppurtunity to run a campaign with it yet.

However the mechanics seem one might say suspiciously close to those of the Jade Claw/Iron Claw system. And my friends Steve ran an excellent Ratchet and Clank based campaign with it. So mechanics wise it seems pretty solid.

Stormbringer, when you are comfortable doing so, I would be delighted if you wrote up a review in the bookshelves sections.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

I'd chip in, but I don't know a damn thing about what makes mechanics good or bad. Let me see. Um. The book... Looks pretty?

More seriously, it has a paragraph or two on every planet in the 'Verse, and that's almost worth the book price on its own, IMO.

The problem is I haven't run a campaign with it (and considering the fate of the gaming group at school, it doesn't look like I will). With out a road test I'm not sure what my review would actually be worth to you guys.

Well, it looks like I'll have a chance to run a game with it this weekend. Character creation so far is proving to be a hoot so far, which is always a good sign.
