Who wins in this battle?

I have my money on Futurama as they build sidewalks that can support the weight of Nibbler's poop.

Didn't the high beams on the Futurama ship blow up DS-9?

The Planet Express Ship, a mere courier, routinely goes to other galaxies, and quasars. Trek is so ridiculously outclassed it's stupid to post this.

The Planet Express ship also tows stars, don't forget that. And don't its engines move the universe around it rather than moving it through the universe?

Hmm, it would have been better to match it to Culture or something.

Futurama was, by and large, a comedy show. Why compare it to realistic Sci-Fi? This is like Heart of Gold versus - there's no way to take it seriously.

But Lelia would more then make up for it. Her tenacity, intelligence and ability would allow her, with the aid of the planet express ship and its mighty high beams of death, to take on the entire Federation and wipe them out single handedly.

But Chemosh help them if Bender discovers the replicators. Can we say unlimited alcohol for life?

Replicators are programmed against producing alcohol.

As for a fair vs involving Futurama. Think: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or the Culture novels. (The latter of those is more unfair despite less power, it's filled to the brim with competence and intelligence, and happens to have a wry sense of humour.)

Star Trek Replicators, (at least Federation ones) are programmed not to produce true alcohol on STARFLEET ships, but can be ordered to produce the alcoholic versions of said beverages, instead of synthohol.

So Bender could find the replicator, order a real beer, and never go without alcohol again.

Ok because I'm forced to take chemistry this summer my brain forsome reason is stuck in chem mode, and thus I have to ask this question:

Ethanol the alcohol we drink is CH3CH2OH (C2H6O)

Its reaction can be expressed in the formula
C2H6O + 3O2  2CO2 + 3H2O + -1367KJ (heat)

Now Alcoholic drinks are primarily water and alcohol with various flavors in there as non reactants, and we have seen bender release heat (flames) and CO2 but my question is. Where does the water go? apparently he is producing 54g water (18g/mol x 3) for every 46g of ethanol he consumes, not to mention the aditional water found in the drinks themselves. Well it has to go some where, so where?

Perhaps used as a cooling system for his CPU.

no see the water would be warm from the 1367 KJ thats not so good for cooling much of anything.

yeah a joule is not that much energy hell food is calculated in Kilo-calories(Cal) one Cal = 4184J or 4.184KJ

And its a whole Mole of Ethanol

I'm fairly certain the process by which we metabolize alcohol isn't a combustion reaction. Unless you're suggesting Bender has a furnace or something in his stomach. Besides, if that much energy is released, then:

(mass of water) * (Specific heat of water) * (change in temperature)
(54g) * (4.18 J/(g*K)) * (80 K [20 C up to 100 C]) = 18 kJ
(mass) * (Heat of Vaporization)
(54g) (2260 J/g) = 120 kJ

This makes me question your numbers; the amount of heat released is enough to boil that water 10 times over.

(change in temperature) = (heat) / ((mass) * (Specific heat of water vapor))
(1229000 J) / (54g) * ((202 J/(g*K)) ) = 112.7 K

113 K + 100 degrees C = 213 degrees C is the temperature of that water vapor. Since it's all gas, if Bender has some vents in his head, he shouldn't have much problem.

So to answer your question about where the water goes: vents. Either that or a pocket universe in his belly.

I wouldn't rule out the pocket universe.

I find myself in agreement, the Pocket Universe is infinitely more likely to happen as this is Futurama we're talking about.

The only other logical (perhaps even moreso) explanation, is the bladder explanation. Why? Because this is Bender we're talking about.

No humans do not process alcohol using a combustion reaction however bender has belched flame on more than one occasion leading me to believe that he is infact using a combustion reaction. Second yes the numbers are correct and water vapor is produced in a normal combustion reaction however the numbers are asuming pure alcohol (46grams) of it to be precise which i think is a bit more than your average beer has. In adition to that most beverages are more water than alcohol anyway so i'm still confused, but yeah i lean towards pocket dimension now too espeically with the hollow body and the ammount of stuff he keeps inside on a regular basis.

I would point out that Bender uses the ethanol as a fuel source. Thus, indeed, he probably is using a combustrion reaction, as there is no REASON for him to be doing any differently
