Have fun, and always remember to wear a clean pair of knickers. You never know when you might get run over by an APC.

Best of luck, Ace. And remember that if you manage to get yourself killed, I know people who can truly make your afterlife miserable so it's in your best interest to stay alive even more than would ordinarily be the case.

Remember all that stuff I told you? Absolutely none of it was bollocks.

Good luck

I'm home for the weekend. I'll have a nice amusing list of "things Ace has learned not to do in boot camp" up later but so far I can tell people i'm surviving quite well. Mostly.

And done with boot. Sunday starts our equivilent of I guess MOS school. Was fun. Had pretty good food for a boot camp, since it's an active intel base and you want to give those guys good food.
Came out sick, turns out sharing a room with 8 people and no circulation during winter leads to sickness.

The IDF sees no reason to have a longer period of bootcamp for people whose primary job role is in an office doing work rather than field ops.

I prefer the Marine style myself but if it works it works. They did at least teach you which end of the rifle is the dangerous end right?

I would probably have also enjoyed a marine style boot, or atleast the 5 week version of what I did.
And yes, I did basic marksmanship and all that. I'm qualified enough to do guard duty in places where they think I might actually end up having to use the gun.

Marine bootcamp is 13 weeks, not 5.

That's why I was surprised Ace was out so fast.
