Today was my second time. It's fun and for a good cause. And there are free cookies.

It doesn't really affect me too much, but that's because I'm lazy and sleep all the time anyway.

Last option. Living in Africa for 13 years tends to disqualify you more or less automatically...

The Fourth Option. I shall give blood at some point, when I get around to it.

Haven't in a long time and given my needle phobia I wouldn't exactly call it 'fun' but back when I did there was a free Coke (plus 50 DM which was nothing to sneeze at at the time) NTM excuse from school PhysEd so Yes I did it regularly.

That's the main thing that's stopping me, really... needle-phobia... but if I look away, I'm alright.

If you're still in High School, 50 DM and excuse from PhysEd go a long way (especially the 50 DM)

Here in the States, we don't get paid by the Red Cross, other than the free food and their new "Points for Pints" program. They just drill into us that we're saving three lives each time, so we get paid by feeling good about ourselves...

I overheard some of the people talking about how some folks still donate with their fear of needles (Trypanophobia, according to Wikipedia). And most of the donors around here are rather old. So don't be a wuss, Narsil! Even old ladies can do it!

You don't get paid by the Red Cross over here, either. Nevertheless back when I was donating blood they weren't the only ones collecting it.

I've donated several times. The only time I don't is during the fall semester when I have marching band, because I nearly fainted once at practice after donating blood.

Once I was old enough, I did pretty regularly, but I can't any more.

On the plus side, once you've given blood a few times, regular shots are nothing.

Hate needles. No way I'm giving blood, I hate to get shots. However, I am an organ donor, so once I die, they can slice and dice me for what they need.

I am a blood donor, used to do it regularly before I got inked....

then I had to wait a year, and never did it sense...

*ducks the attack, then reaches the Glock 18 in his jacked* Donated my blood once and want to do that again, but not for the likes of THEM! *shoots the attacking vampire in full-auto. The vampire stumbles and falls*

*Another wave of vampires approaches. The ex-Watchmen agent known as Iceheart quickly dives into the subway train, then throws an UV grenade outside just before the door is closed.*

*As the grenade explodes, Iceheart reloads his Glock. Those vampires were not Alvarius' minion, so what are they doing in the Archmage's territory? Also, they were actually after the mercenaries Mark and Demi Ferency instead of himself. What happens? Kreshna believes he needs to investigate this recent development......*

I have the weirdest needle fear. I'm terrified of them, but I have to look. It's a million times more scary if I don't look at it. I need to see what's happening.

That being said, I gave blood for the first time on Thursday. I almost passed out a number of times, leading to 2-3 of the people working there standing next to me the entire time. And apparently I have teeny-tiny veins, so it took close to a half hour to get a pint out of me.

I'd do it again, but it's not anywhere near enjoyable.

I would, but apparently there's some sort of genetic disease in my family, and as such, I'm disqualified for some crazy reason, along with the rest of my family.

I don't even know my own blood type. :???:

I'm not scared of needles at all. And I'm completely fascinated by it all that I have to look. Seeing what's inside me get taken out after getting poked by a sharp instrument is just cool in some indescribable way.

And needles don't hurt. I'm also apparently a bleeder.

I voted for the fourth option. I haven't given blood yet but I'd like to. I'd also like to donate my organs should I die. Like with blood, this is something I'd like to do but haven't yet.

Yeah, yesterday they said I had small veins, and there was some trouble with the speed it was taking, so they kept making little adjustments to try to speed it up. It took at least half an hour. It sucked. Though the first time everything went a lot more smoothly.

I wanted to give blood but when I went down to the blood donors centre they asked me if i'd engaged in any kind of anal sex in the last few months. I had and they said I couldn't give blood due to health and safety reasons.
