I can accept Dion for Hadfield. That's a fair trade. But you still owe us for taking Bieber. As awesome as Hadfield's video is, I don't think it pays for Bieber.

Look, whatever evils we did by electing George the Dumber, we've more than paid for. I don't care how 'reluctant' you all were with regards to releasing that thing, we did not deserve that. I'm pretty sure there are parts of the Hague or Geneva Conventions that specifically rule against this sort of thing.

As the American people aren't legal combatants, they aren't entitled to the protection of the Hague and Geneva Conventions.

I didn't get any of the rest of this beyond the US needing to be punished for electing Dubya The Stupider (which I think already happened to a not inconsiderable extent by the US having Dubya the Stupider as POTUS) but that video was pretty damned awesome.

We should spend less time arguing about Bieber and more on figuring out how to send him back through the portal of ancient horrors from whence he emerged.

I'm extremely fortunate in never having actually heard him sing.

Batman, it was mostly a back and forth between Cyn and I concerning the legalities of Canada sending Justin Bieber to the United States as punishment for electing George the Dumber.

And on that note, I wish to register my complaints against Canada for violations of my rights under the Hague and Geneva Conventions as I was an active duty during a time of war in which we were under the reign of Dubya. This made me a legal combatant. The blatant terrorist attack by Canada in foisting Bieber on us should not go unpunished. Whatever evils we may have done by electing him we have more than paid for. The continued usages of Weapons of Musical Destruction against us should be seen as an act of war.

You could just stop playing the guy's music you know.

I've tried to convince people to do this. But for some reason Bieber really popular with the tweens, teens and lesbians. I think she's their mascot or something? I don't know. I don't get it either.

If it wasn't for everyone complaining about him, I wouldn't know he existed.

A good point. I'm sure it'll be investigated as rigorously as the military investigates rape.

Same here, Frig. I don't listen to Teeny-Bop, I listen to Rock. I'd have no clue who Bieber was if he wasn't mentioned as if he was a plague.

As for our Capt Tom, I am going to miss seeing his videos from space. I think he did more to interest kids in science and space than anyone else.

A Side note: Did you hear one of the next ISS members is a Quilter, and taking up material to make a quilt in space? She's also looking forward to getting her hands on the 'ragbag' of used ISS flight suits that otherwise get burned up in a trash dump to the Atmosphere

I've watched his music video probably close to a hundred times now and it never seems to get old. I've watched it on my computer, phone, tablet and TV. I've watched it in 2D and 3D. It's still just as amazing and wonderful as the first time.

But it has brought a question to my mind. I, personally, would love to go into space one day. For a minute, an hour, a day, however long I could. Just to have a chance to see that view that we see out his windows. To float above the world and just take it all in. It has to be one of the most awe-inspiring sights imaginable. It's on my bucket list of things to do. But my philosophical question here is which is the worse fate? To have this on your bucket list and never get to go, but never really know what you've missed; Or to go up there, to be there for that long and see it every day for half a year, then have to come home and know there's a very real chance you'll never get to see it that way again, that once you land that's it, never again do you get to see it from that angle in person. I'm honestly not sure because it could go either way for me.

All of the Astronauts seem to react the same: They've been up there, it's changed them, almost all of them have a touch of "The Divine"/"Otherness" about them because they'ves seen Earth as a whole. From what I've seen, it's a vision they cherish, even if they can never go again.

As in our conversation, this is a matter of the blind suddenly seeing, if only for a moment. It may be taken away again, but for that one glorious moment they SEE, and it's with them forever. Is it cruel to never see it again? Yes, Buzz Aldren has said he'd go again in a heartbeat. But he never regreted coming home.
