So, do you have any favorite stories that you've dug from the depths of the Net? Course you do, you just aren't admitting it.
I'll get the ball started with this Damn Good Fiction C2 I put together on FF.net.
I'd recommend Carlos Perez's stories, for a start. They reminded me of Terry Pratchett's work.

SD.net isn't the only place that has it, though, and as some of us are IP-banned there, it could prove inconvenient. Clicky.

The Human Memoirs by Greg Howell is a nice orginal story. Probably my favorite piece of furry fiction, too.
Drunkard's Walk by Robert M. Schroeck is my favorite SI. Two sagas with several more planned, and if you prefer compleat stories, Robot's Rules of Order is done.

Fierce Deity, in addition to two Zelda epics, The Five and Eternal Ark, has an excellent orginal story: Twin Gear: The Ruiner of a Thousand Years.
There's seven hundred thousand plus words of good writing there.

The index is here. It links to not only TBO, but other stories within the TBOverse. Some of them continue the timeline, some are side stories, and some are written by different people.Ace Pace wrote:How the hell do I link to TBO? IM me if you want the completed ZIP.
I keep it bookmarked, if you're wondering.

ImproFanfic.com has a few good stories archived. Its a round robin story site, so the plot can take some unexpected turns. I'd reccomend Furniture Warriors. It's been a while since I poked around there, but that one was in my favorites, so I think I liked it.
Wanna know an easy way to navigate FF.net and similar sites? It's simple: 10 reviews a chapter and there's a good chance it's readable. Adjust for the category, 25 for Harry Potter and 5 in Detective Conan. You're going to miss a few gems, but I find that this is a good way to filter out the good stuff.

Actually, that's a rather bad way to try and filter things--after all, Harry Potter assrape fic probably gets a ton of reviews. Unless there's some warning system...JEAP wrote:ImproFanfic.com has a few good stories archived. Its a round robin story site, so the plot can take some unexpected turns. Then again, I don't read/write fanfic anyhow.
And I thought the title of this thread was "Damn good friction." HA.
Um, anywho, my contribution: "Untitled Document" from SomethingAwful.com is hilarious.

Yeah, it doesn't do so well in Harry Potter. Or Gundam Wing(Yardwork by DB Sommer is the best.). Or Yu-gi-oh (Nothing good comes from here). Or Naruto. Or any hyper-popular category. I navigate those, for the most part, using the favorite lists of authors I like.
Master Nin is a tale of young love... with a GILF (Grandma I'd like to *wink wink nudge nudge*)
Genin is a good story. Solid writing and a good plot.
Never Cut Twice is more of a 'lets make him better' story, but its not too bad.

I nominate my current favorite, 55 Days in Kalunda.
Have a very nice day.

Yeah, the Duchess does good work. Most of the stuff coming from TGG is interesting.
Ah Dark Angel, you were good for a few seasons, but then you got wierd and left me confused. So how 'bout some alt history instead! Left Behind follows the trials and tribulations of Max after she fails to escape. There are several sequals and side stories including: Moving Ahead, Moving Alongside, Pressing Onwards, and Surging Forward. All told there are some six hundred thousand words over the five stories. Left behind is the shortest, but it is more of a prolgue.

Its been yeahs since I looked at StarWars fiction. And its just like I remember, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon gettin' it on and Anikan angst. The last good story I read was Hitchhiker.
So I was suprised when I found this little gem, The Essences Of Life, that focuses on Grievous. Its getting to the climax, I think, and I'm sorta hoping that Grievous will break with Dooku and lead the CIS on to victory. Its probably heading to a romance really, but I can hope.

Another neat Naruto story, Single Ninja on the Town. In it Naruto gets a guide on how to woo ninja style. A nice light read with a few chuckles in it.
This one I had forgotten, Red Moon. Its a skewed Sailor Moon story. Hey I see that look! Try it before that sneer settles.
And remember kids: "Public transport is the veins through which the lifeblood of a nation flows. By attacking this system, you have sought to bring low the co- operative dreams and labours of all the People. For your counter revolutionary activities, I am Sailor Moon, and in the name of the State, I shall punish you!"
