That's Best Korea for you. Incidentally, the two Koreas have diverged so much that it's quite likely that within a generation or two reunification may become nearly impossible. As it is the situation is bad enough as to make West Germany's absorption of East Germany look like a minor hiccup. If South Korea were to annex North Korea, it would cause their economy to implode pretty much instantly, not to mention all the social issues that would result from a wave of North Koreans moving South in search of better living. Pretty much the only way to make it work is for South Korea to treat North Korea like a colony, with few voting rights, travel restrictions, and sweat shops were workers are paid a pittance. Then slowly building them up to having full rights as well as complete economic and political integration over the next 20-40 years. The sad thing is that merely making it so that everyone get enough food and consistent access to electricity and transportation would be a huge improvement already, even if they were otherwise an oppressed colony.

The telling part about how much they're diverging, though, is North Korea's infiltration course. Way back after the end of the Korean War it was six months, that was all they needed to train people to pass themselves off as South Korea. Probably about as much or less than you'd need to train American to infiltrate Canada. Now the course is three and a half years, and it involves an underground recreation of a South Korean city complete with actors pretending to be South Korean, because otherwise it's simply impossible to get the right context.

Personally I think letting Sullivan and Tortorello go was the right call. But with the Hurricanes and the Capitals both looking for new head coaches it's going to be interesting to see who they end up picking up as replacement. Also, I'm wondering what Kassian's contract is going to end up looking like since it's obvious he's going to refuse any low ball qualifying offers with his numbers usually. I mean nobody want's to end up like Fleischmann during the 07 season getting the low end contract and scoring their ass off. On the other hand no team wants another Gerbe with a huge contract and not earning his keep, putting up kind of lackluster numbers in comparison to previous seasons after they hired him on for a 3 year deal at near 1.5mil per.
