I can't land a hit on this sucker and he deals 40 damage upon me. What'd I have to use? Firecrackers?

Higher stats. One reason I'm happy to buff my guys while waiting for the Pickle Factory.

I have a question. After you get the puzzle solved, do you have to fight a certain number of Topiary Golems to get to the key, or does the key show up randomly?

If you still have the puzzel, I believe it has instructions on what to do. You have to use it.

You settle the puzzle with the path for the key. Next time into the garden you get the key. Then you have to reset the puzzle with a route to the north to get to the tower, with the same hassle of shifting pieces and having it get snatched away. Once you've got the path north, enter the maze again, and you'll unlock the gate and be able to access the tower.

I have it solved. It has a route going through all 9 squares to the key, starting in the bottom right corner. I can't imagine it getting any more solved than that, but I keep fighting the golems. What am I doing wrong?

Isn't the arrow that indicates your entry point at the middle bottom square? When I've gone through, neither the key route nor the other route required all nine squares. You just manipulate it to a short, simple route.

Yeah, I think the solution uses 6 squares from entrance to key, and 5 from entrance to exit.

OK. If it is 6 squares, I'm sure I can make that work once I get a new set of turns.
