It's a "don't fuck with the Scarlet Spires thing." He might have recovered.LadyTevar wrote:He lies, and he dies.
Is that an honor thing, or what? He was dying either way

I do have to wonder what Nalifan said to the Queen alone in her chamber. Mean of you to leave us with those cryptic words.
I'm glad he's back, even if the chapter is so short.

Be interesting to see what Nal does. Conventionally speaking the sheer number of enemy spellcasters means magically speaking he's on the defensive. But this is Nal, he thinks the best defense is ripping out your enemies eyes and chopping off their hands... Which I gotta admit is a pretty good defense.

Very nasty little suggestion there. You'd need something that couldn't be 'easily cured' via Neutralize Poison or Remove Curse. Although adding a nice little fast-growing naturally toxic weed into the grazing lands would be a good start. Especially if it's a northern weed the southerners have never experienced. Milkweed, for example?frigidmagi wrote:Me? I would open up with something aimed at killing or weakening their horses.

Actually, he's already started and it will kill more than just their horses.frigidmagi wrote: Me? I would open up with something aimed at killing or weakening their horses.

Simple enough. Don't curse the horses. Curse the flies that bite the horses. Make the water bad to drink, just add salt. Twist the grass, don't make it poisonous, make it addictive and hallucinogenic. Ever seen a horse go through withdrawal?Very nasty little suggestion there. Yar Cat, I know you're doing something else but I hope these met with your approval anyways.

Oh my magi, of course it did. Nalifan's most definitely going to kill the horses. It's just not going to be limited to the horses.frigidmagi wrote: Yar Cat, I know you're doing something else but I hope these met with your approval anyways.

And it's good to see Nal's enemies are pulling their own plans together.

And the fight begins. would be nice if they could have knocked down that earth wall, just in time to flood the crossing tribesmen.

"Of course, sending a half dozen of their heavy hitters and a gaggle of witches and horsemen up the river to dam it has certain consequences. One of which is that sneaking around in the pre-dawn darkness is not a good way to hide your movements when the other side has elves in their numbers. Another is that even if they survive the ambush they won't be available to deal with the surprise I have for them."

SQUEEEEE! More Nalifan, and the battle begins.
Now to see what other nasty tricks Nalifan's got hidden besides DeathWing.

There is one thing I know... IT'S A TRAP!
The question is whose trap is the nastiest?

Yeah, huh Tev? I'm willing to bet that's not the whole card game. Both sides have at least one more card to play and it's a question of which side has the nastiest hole card.

When it comes to hiding nasty ace cards, my bet is again on Nalifan.
However, the devil with the Prince is a wildcard.
