Urban Dead: This Means War

[Josh]

"Darek, if the plan was to put a bullet in you, I wouldn't be going off-pattern by calling you by name. The bespectacled doc has a notion of a treatment, and you're not helping matters by jogging your ass around the countryside. Listen to me, you cocksucking motherfucker, you've got a unit here to take care of, and don't you fucking personalize this. We deal with our problems as a goddamned unit, not a bunch of fucking solo freelancers."

[Dark Silver]

He let the radio stay silent for a few moments, before his voice went hard.

"Your not going to make this easy will you Petro? The kid's with me in the warehouse the bastard got her in...."

He felt something tighten in his chest, a sudden, familiar pain. The flesh beneath his gauntlet began to itch, and he realiezed something.

"Get a cell ready.....I'm bringing her back. I'm running out of time Petro..."

[Josh]

"My word, we're going to do everything we can to save you, Darek. I'll get the 2nd out to cover your way in. Headhunter over and out."

[Dark Silver]

"copy that..she's sleeping right now...I'll wake her up after the rain's finished, we'll move out then...Slayer One out."

Silver turned off the radio, slipping it back into the holster.

He failed. It was that simple. He couldn't protect his family.

Because of his inability, they would all suffer for it.

[Josh]

He let out a big sigh of relief, then called the radio monitor back in.

Maybe they could save him.

Fucking obnoxiously rebellious bastards. He left the radio station, shaking his head.

[Caz]

The next time Silver would look up, he'd find Sherry sitting there, eyeing him curiously.

"He wants us back," she said. Not a question. Mike had some sort of plan up his sleeve... she remembered the Emerald Guard's current position. If Mike and a fucking boatload of doctors couldn't do it, nobody could.

"You trust 'em?"

[Dark Silver]

He nodded, not able to met her gaze. He didn't know how much it was showing yet.

"Yeah...he wants us back...both of us. Told him we'd head back to the Mall once the rain stopped....as for trusting him? We saved each other enough times, he's family...I gotta trust him. The rest, no further than I could throw them."

Silver walked to the chair, picking up his shotgun and checking the chamber. Still fully loaded.

"Grab your gear....we don't exactly know when that rain's gonna end. And we got aot of buildings to cover. I smelled someone outside...let's see if it's one of your boyfriend's padnas..."

With that almost feral glint inhis eye, Silver moved for the back entrance to the warehouse.

[Caz]

Sherry grinned, hopping to her feet. As she landed, she didn't even flinch at the electric pain that stabbed up through the wound in her calf. She loved it. Because as long as it was fucking hurting it would remind her why she was out here. Hefting the smi-auto--damn thing was heavier than her usual pistol, but she'd get used to it--and sliding it into her holser, she shoved the inferior handgun into her small backpack. Almost as an afterthought, she dug a flask from the smaller pouch and took a long, hearty swig.

Handing it over to him, she said, "You can have the rest. Don't tell Da, I snaked right out from under him. It's American shit... Tennessee whiskey or summat like that."

But even as she bantered with him, he wasn't meeting her eyes.

"Hey!" she said suddenly, clapping a hand on his shoulder, "Don't you fucking go quiet on me? If we're going back to get you helped, that makes me your escort. So I'm gonna make sure you're okay!"

[Dark Silver]

He backed off as she clamped a hand on his shoulder. He didn't want her to know, but if he was going to keep her safe...

"Keep that gun ready, be prepared to use it."

He looked back at her, letting her see his face. His skin was slightly paler than it should be, the flesh slightly tighter. It was starting.

"We ain't got much time"

He spoke those words, but they held another meaning, I don't have much time...

He hefted the shotgun, and tilted his head outside, "Let's do this thing"

[Caz]

She leaned to Silver as they exited the warehouse through one of its many rundown entrances.

The plan would work. She had a good feeling about this one.

After explaining, she simply shoved her hands in her pockets and continued on like nothing.

[Dark Silver]

They left the warehouse, and into the rain. Earlier there had been nothing but the rain, torrential downpours and sheets of white over everything.

There was more visibility now, he could see several yards infront of him and she was there, getting soaked.

Her plan was tricky. It could work, but then it couldn't. Well, she expected him to do it....he would just keep the animal back.

He growled at first, the sound coming to easily, as he began to move closer, his legs picking up speed, he let his face become slack, then pick up the expression of the walking dead, vacant, but hungry, almost feral.

The snarl overpowered the sound of raindrops on pavement as he drew close, and the gauntleted hand grabbed for her arm.

[Caz]

"Hey!" she called out, taking a few stumbling steps backward. Even better, she fell flat-out on her ass, crab walking back a few steps.

"Silver, the fuck!?"

Sloppily, she drew her machete from her belt loop, sending it curving in a deadly arc toward his neck... but just happening to slash and clatter against his gauntlet instead. The adrenaline was real, though. The impact jarred her arm, and she grit her teeth.

[Dark Silver]

It was coming to him to easily, the attack, the way to move. He never even tried to dodge the machette blow. He was already moving towards her, the gleam was in his eyes, but behind it intellegence.

The animal was coming out slowly, but Silver was still behind it, holding it back, restraining it. It was her plan, but to draw them out, it had to look real. And thus, he was letting it be.

The Animal threw itself at Sherry, it's fingers becoming rigid, like claws, as they went for her throat.

[Caz]

She dodged, cutting across to the right and kicking at his knees. He was letting it show; good. That meant it would look convincing. And if things got out of hand, she could handle him. Even if Sherry had nothing on him in regards to strength or size, she was fast as hell and if he fell to the rotter inside him then she'd be smarter.

[Dark Silver]

She dodged, he was flaton the ground, belly first.

The thing on his back was heavy, it was slowing him down. He snarled as he pulled at the straps, the backpack and axe fallin away. He sniffed the air, focusing back on her.

The snarls were to animalistic, the movements to predatory, but that was all the more convincing, as he rose to his feet again, and began to close back in on her.

[Caz]

As he was tangled in the straps, she lunged again, the machete glinting in the rain and scarce light as she slammed her body weight against him, the blade clacking violently into the gauntlet once again.

With a look of horror (ha!) she stared at his face for a moment, then bolted, the exhilaration of adrenaline flushing through her.

The hunt was on!

[Dark Silver]

She ran.

Within the Animal, he was pleased, the look of fear on her face was almost genuine.

He forced the animal back, taking command of his own mind, but forcing his body to remain the same. He has his shotgun and battle axe still.

He sniffed the air, he caught her scent, and no one elses. Good, for now. he grabbed the backpack, threw it into the warehouse, and began to track her. Sticking to the buildings and moving like a shambler.

She was counting on him.

[Caz]

The adrenaline finally beginning to fade a bit, Sherry ran the first two blocks from where she'd left him and slowed, hands hugging her sides a bit. It had been like a glorious game. Like being a kid again.

Fuck the mall. Fuck civilisation. Out here, this was where she belonged.

The rain had picked up a bit, but she didn't seem to even notice as she slowed to a jog and then to a cautious walk.

As Silver tracked along behind her, he picked up a new scent, also moving along her trail. Not a scent from the warehouse, a new one.

[Caz]

Sticking to the street for a while, Sherry soon moved to the alleyways. More dangerous, sure, but it was also what a panicked individual such as the one she'd just portrayed had do, lured into the idea that darkness equaled safety.

[Dark Silver]

He stopped, eyes remaining feral, as he sniffed the air.

That was unexpected, a new scent, someone who could intrude on the plan.

He waited, sniffing, waiting....where was it.

Definatly a male...the smell of blood came down with it, blood that was tainted.

There was something else, he couldn't tell....but he had to keep going. Sherry could get to far ahead, he's lose her trail in the rain.

He continued on, no time to lose.

A job was a job. He needed the medical supplies badly, for the wound on his back. It was starting to fester, and if he didn't get antibiotics... something, anything soon, he was done for.

The woman had dropped the zombie back in the rain. She was moving with a definite limp. McCormack tracked along after her, rifle over his shoulder, utterly oblivious to what was behind him.

[Caz]

Fortunately, acting or not, Sherry couldn't stray too far. Her leg hurt like a motherfucker, and she dropped to a knee for a moment while she rolled up her pant leg and unzipped her boot, inspecting the bandages to make sure the wrappings were still tight.

After a bit of tape, right as rain. She gave the wound a satisfactory nod and tightened the dressings as much as she could.

She'd picked up a pair of rather hookerish boots in the mall's shoestore, and while admittedly they were something she'd have worn either way, this time they served a purpose: the knee-high footwear was an excellent brace on her injured leg.

And for now, she'd done all she could. Boot done up, pants back down, she was ready to roll.

The new scent was following the same trail as Sherry, just slightly off kilter.

She wasn't in the shape to deal with someone else, and he was underarmed, so he wasn't even sure he was in the shape for it.

His arm swung down, hitting the GPS. It seemed a random movement, his his hand actually touched the radio trandmitter activator. It would drain the GPS' batteries in a few hours, but it was like a distress call.

It went off, it meant there was trouble.

The Irregulars could track him with it.

He picked up the pace, fuck fuck fuck....why did I let you talk me into this kid

He was focused intently on the target. She had stopped to deal with her injury, in a position where he couldn't get a good shot. He crept along, closing the distance. Down to his last magazine of ammo, he had to be conservative now. He had the shot selector at three-round burst.

Aim for the legs. As long as she was sort of alive when he got her back to that crazy fuck, it'd be good enough.
