"Huh? Oh it's just energy. I've found I can shot it out of one hand and reabsorb it in the other. It helps me think and it's kinda comforting for some reason... How are you doing Hydro? Better?" Blast asked.
"it takes two sides to end a war but only one to start one. And those who do not have swords may still die upon them." Tolken

"I have not experienced... disruptions... since last they were inflicted," Hydro said carefully. "My experiment, ill-conceived though it might have been, successfully determined their source. I am... attempting to determine what is to be done regarding this information now... with limited success."
Gaze upon my works, ye mighty, and despair...
Havoc: "So basically if you side against him, he summons Cthulu."
Hotfoot: "Yes, which is reasonable."

"What are your ideas on possible courses of action if I may ask? Is it easier for you in the pool then when you're in the house? Or when Argent is calmer?" Blast asked.

Hydro bubbled for a moment. "The location does not appear to have any bearing. It is dependent on Argent, and her... emanations of an unknown nature."
There was a tone behind his words that was less than pleased with this concept.
"I dislike having others in control of my capacities for fluidic control, but... I do not know what means to undertake to prevent it at this time. My efforts thus far have been... less than beneficial towards that end."

"Her emanations are projections of emotion. It's psychic in nature I think. You know, mind powers? Maybe there's some way to shield you so you're not dependant on her control. I'll ask Grav if you want, he's awake and moving now. " Blast offered squishing his feet.

For a moment, Li Na was alone. The distance was just enough that she could ignore everyone else in the house, even if they were links in her mind. The link to Tachyon was quiet, a single strand of purest white silk. She could touch it, but at the moment he was too far away for her to read him. It stretched out, tracing the path to him.
She turned away and walked to the bedroom and out the private patio door. A swim would be her usual relaxant ... but she was stymied by Blast's presence, as well as a little embarrassed by Hydro. Shoving those feelings down deep, if only to protect Hydro, she walked slowly over to the pool. They would see her.

"Brainstorming on how to dig up more intel on New Guardian and cripple them before any attack." Gravitas replied to Hotfoot. "We can't expect either effort to work, though; I'm an insurgent by nature, I don't fight triple-black government agencies often."

"I am not a flesh beast," gurgled Hydro, "nor does my consciousness function in the manner of one. I do not comprehend the mechanisms of 'psychic' emanations, nor have I the slightest conception of how one would erect a shield against it. It is not physical in nature, and thereby cannot be shielded against."
He made several more sounds, but did not translate them to words as Argent herself approached. His tendril turned to face the metafleshbeast, but he did not say anything specifically, nor move, watching instead to see what she would do.

Blast followed the direction of Hydro's tendril. Well speak of the devil and all that.
"Hi Argent, Hydro and I were just discussing the effect of your powers on him. I was thinking we could figure out how to shield him, since until we do any psychic is gonna have a field day with him right?" Blast explained.

Obviously, she would not be having her swim. Hydro's wariness was a ripple in the air, as visible to her as his own body. She stopped just back from the pool's edge, close enough to speak, far enough to be not a threat.
"Psionics attack the mind," she explained, trying to think of Big Words that will get the idea across. "Fleshbeast or not, Hydro, you are sentient and intelligent, which means you're vulnerable. You feel hate and fear and curiousity, which are emotions, and empathy shapes them as easily as Blast shapes his energy field."
She looked down to Blast, sensing his unease as well. "I'm going to try blocking myself better around Hydro. Still..." she looked over the pool, to the view beyond. "... maybe I should get out of the house for a while."

"It's up to you, but I think that would just delay the problem not fix it. Let's ask Grav and Blackheart. I'm sure they can come up with something. Grav keeps telling us he's a genius and I'm pretty sure Blackheart had to have dealt with Psychics before right?" Blast said clearly not letting the idea go.

Blackheart walked out of the house and towards the sea. He felt the weight. Argent throwing around her powers, teasing with sending a boy feet first into a wood chipper. Not on his fucking watch. Gravitas playing god with less than a minute of information and threatening to strand him on another planet. The team eating its guts like a crazed dog at the mention of Guardian Force.
And what alternatives? Crack the CIA's black operations books from within? If he had anyone that could do that he would already have the whole thing spread out on table. Taskmaster could at best point out directions to look. The operation would be compartmentalized and have a cover story. Finding it by looking through accounts, not that getting your hands on accounts Congress couldn't see, wouldn't happen. The operation had to be found and the money trail followed in the other direction. If angel boy hadn't fried RCE, maybe they could have pulled data from them, but that wasn't going to happen now. Fuck all would be gods.
He had gone further than he thought. He could see the beach close by. He walked towards the water. Onlookers watched him as he walked into the water. It came up to his waist and then his chest. He kept going. He submerged himself in the cool darkness. Better. Much better. He went further and then crossed his legs and sat on the ocean floor.
In the beginning their was light and darkness and the first ones moved through the cooling clumps of matter and the icy void and the hot hells of hard radiation. Here was not the same, but there was solace from too many waspish voices. He could think.

It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

"...Or it could be that my ideas all suck and that instead of telling me that, he's going to walk out and cool his jets." Gravitas sighed. "I'm gonna go wash my damn suit. Not half an hour awake and already. Makes you wonder why, huh, Hotfoot?"

Hotfoot let out a deep sigh and shook his head. "You didn't miss much, other than Legacies' funeral. He and Argent have been...ugh. Anyway, she asked me to see what you thought of letting Alex toy around with that ring you've got."

"As long as he doesn't toy with the recharge. I've studied the signatures of the boxs and rings, and they're distinct. I think it'd cause permenant damage in some fashion to connect 'em.. And they're handy enough that I want further study. Basically, bring it to me when it runs down." Gravitas shrugged.
"I dunno, though, Hotfoot. The God acts lost it's luster. No one listens when I explain it. I shed the meglomania.. Turns out I had cancer, by the way, it's fixed.. And now I see I was an idiot for using it. Great book sales.. But now it just taints everything."

For his part, Alexander was half-working on a new project on his laptop, and half paying attention to the goings-on around him.
He was about to make a dry reply to Gravitas when Hotfoot's mention of him liking some ring caught his attention. "What ring?"

"Actually, I was thinking we should let Blast have whichever box isn't being used to power that ring. He can't just rely on us as power sources in an emergency, he should have an emergency power supply, even if it does hurt him a little." He shrugged as Gravitas brought up the god thing.
"Hey man, it's something that carries a lot of weight, and you did use it a lot. If it helps any, I generally just care about what people do, rather than what they say."

Gravitas pulled a Guardian ring out of the pocket of his still-gorey suit he was carrying. "This ring, Alex." He said. "Going to stick with that name? I.. Really can't use my real one. Anymore. Not here."
"And what we are, what we do, doesn't carry the weight of mountains? Heaven and Hell, cyborg armies and primordial forces, and we somehow hold the line. But fuck it. Next time.. I suppose I try to be smarter. Well, wiser. Hard to get smarter than correctly deducing the 512th element's properties and how to synthesize a metastable variant."

"We see how Blackheart deals with some psychics," Argent answered wryly. "He simply kills the rest that annoy him."frigidmagi wrote:"It's up to you, but I think that would just delay the problem not fix it. Let's ask Grav and Blackheart. She looked towards the road, feeling more than seeing Blackheart walking out, the link inside her head more like a thundercloud than anything else. Perhaps a tornado. "He's talking a walk."

Blast stopped playing with energy. Mary help him it was like a pair of parents trying to get the kids to pick sides.
"That's not fair and you know it. Blackheart has yet to kill anyone who wasn't attempting to do worse. Not to mention saving your life several times. Yeah he's about as personable as a walking buzz saw, and has the people skills of a drunk boxer. He owns up to that. You both need to clam down. Seriously I've seen people in high school who just broke up acting better then you two in a room and that's all I'm gonna say about that. Hotfoot gave you your talk and Grav gave Blackheart his. Now, focus. Hydro, we need to shield him from psychic attack somehow. Any ideas how?" Blast asked.

She sighed, looking back to Blast and Hydro. "Other than pairing him with Tachy, none that I know of. Hydro's mind is as wide open as a child's."

"They haven't had time to develop their defenses," she answered. "They have to 'grow up' first."
And some have to grow up very, very quickly, to protect themselves from harm.
