41K RPG : Into the Eye.

[The Necrontyr Messenger]

"An interesting idea," she said, nodding to Gix, "one we should try, but yes, I was thinking of something more ambitious... I was thinking of drawing the Tyranids into the Eye..."

[Josh]

"Brilliant," he said approvingly. "In theory, anyway."

[Cynical Cat]

Jolan smiled. "I like how your mind works. Most of the hive fleets are a substantial distance from the Eye. They are unlikely to ignore nearer signals in favor of a distant one, however strong it may be. Unless you have evidence otherwise. I freely defer to the superior expertise of my colleages."

It took a great deal to surprise Inquisitor Novum, but success had just been achieved. There was no outward sign of it, except for the microscopic raising of his eyebrow.

"When you say you wish to draw 'the Tyranids' into The Eye of Terror, I presume you are aware that to get there they would travel through the heart of the Imperium?" He asked carefully.

[Cynical Cat]

"Not necessarily," said Jolan Gix. "The Imperium consists of a mere million plus worlds. It's not inconcievable that their is some mechanism that would allow us to lead them past Imperial controlled systems. And some of the hive fleets are above the galactic disc. In any event, a few worlds can be sacrificed if necessary."

[SirNitram]

Hethor bowed to the Astartes. He was a big man, not quite space marine big, with olive skin and the insignia of the Dark Angels tattooed on the forhead of his shaven skull. "The inquisitors have no reguests at the moment, Tech-Captain. I have come to offer assistance, if you need any."

"I require equipment immediately.. And somewhere appropriate for combat training once I have finished maintenence and restocking." Malkamar replied, examining the tattoo. "Dark Angels. Heard of them. Can't say I've ever met one. Now, first and foremost, I need ammunition and additional ceramite plating for artificer armour. Next, I'll need spares and fuel for a Standard Pattern servo harness. A new signum would be nice." He recited off his list, and shrugged. "Should you be unable to furnish me with these things, I could also really use a clue about now. Who are these Inquisitors, and why the hell are we in a monastary gunned up to the gills?"

Pater nodded to Gix and sank back into the darkness of his chair, appearently satisfied. Although no one could be sure. The Inquisitor had trained himself over the decades to show no outward appearances of what he was thinking. Many found this lack of identifiable body language subconciously disturbing, but that merely added to his reputation.

[Cynical Cat]

"I fought with them once," Hethor replied. "I carry this to honour them and the revelation that I recieved. I do not know the inquisitors' purpose here, but this is a Sororitas Chapter House. One of the orders militant and one that is playing host to a saint. As for gear, I'll see what I can do."

He spoke into his vox. "Lydia, Heth. Can you see if the Sororitas will provide Tech-Captain Malkamar with bolter ammunition, ceramite plating for artificer armour, spares and fuel for a servo harness, and a new signum."

He clicked the vox off. "The saint and the inquisitors go way back. Fought together, shed blood together, lost people together, and won together. Something's big planned, that's all I know. If anyone short of an inquisitor can get the gear, Lydia will. She's crawling the walls and itching to throw around inquisitional authority. Tough though."

[SirNitram]

"Aren't all those with power eager to flex it? One of our very few failings as a species, that, but I've yet to find one which can resist." Malkamar shrugged a bit, considering the man's tattoo. "Fought alongside Astartes. An honour few can speak truthfully of having."

The Techmarine turned to his armour, rubbing his chin slowly. "Sororitas. I really don't understand why anyone would humour the Imperial Cult with the ability to raise troops after this Age of Apostasty I've read about. Still, would you state they are honourable, worthy warriors before the Emperor? Or should I fear for my hide should I question their abilities such?"

[Cynical Cat]

Hethor shrugged. "Lydia's eager to prove she can do the job. Wants to show everyone she's ready to do the job and be an inquisitor The boss hasn't smoothed off all the rough edges yet. As for the Ecclesiarchy, it was the Sororitas who put Vandire and his boys in the boneyard so they weren't going to get the axe. The Ecclesiarchy is too damn big and strong not to have troops. The Fraters Militia is worthless junk and the Sororitas answer to the Inquisition so it ain't that bad. Can we trust the sisters? Fucked if I know. But I trust the saint."

[The Necrontyr Messenger]

"Well, my actual plan was to draw them out of the plane of the galaxy if at all possible, on a parabolic course. We'll need somewhere to lure them," she said, "Which of course, we have," she pressed a button, revealing a distant star system, ten thousand light years outside the galactic plane, "A fairly out of the way place, no one there but a few thousand isolated humans and some nice, crunchy jungle..."

"Now, as we know, there is always a potential for these things to go, hideously, hideously wrong, so I think our first objective should be to investigate the new tyranidic campaign coming from below the galactic plane... If there are significant changes in its genetic makeup they may prove to be useful in gaining a greater understanding of how the Tyranids communicate..."

"My files on Splinter Fleets Upsilon, Caradiria and Phylomel are at your service." Pater said neutrally. "They were all remnants of Kraken, and show quite interesting deviations in genetic makeup and behavior."

Jaenta nodded, "Thank you comrade, I'm sure that it will be most helpful. You may all of course, have access to my own research."

[SirNitram]

"Saint? Actual Saint? Blessed by the God Emperor, may his Throne light the darkness for a million years, real Saint?" Malkamar was somewhat surprised, and touched his forehead. "By Russ' belt and Sanguinus' wings.. I have stepped in the cacky. Well, I suppose that's my place."

The rambling thoughts brought on by the word Saint were dismissed with a wave of a hand. "Forgive my rambling. Too long on my own, I tend to think out loud. The Sororitas can be as trusted as the Inquisition. As you say, then." Of course, an Astartes had a unique view on just how far you could trust an Inquisitor. It was not 'As far as you could throw them'. Because an Astartes, particularly a Techmarine with two Servo-arms at his command, could and probably would throw an untrustworthy Inquisitor very far indeed.

[Josh]

"I will also make my records and my savant available for this matter, though Inquisitor Novum's dealings with this brand of xenos are more extensive than my own."

"So, any further questions?"

Pater reclined silently into the folds of his chair.

[Josh]

"So, we're making a two-pole journey out of this- one to lure them to this point, then the other to lure them to the Eye. I assume that multiple modified Lictors will be used to create a strong enough signal?"

[The Necrontyr Messenger]

Jaenta nodded, "You could say that. I was thinking... several hundred."

[Josh]

"Have you tested the usage of multiple enhanced lictors in the same vicinity? The results may differ markedly from those of a single one..."

[The Necrontyr Messenger]

"Not yet, just another thing we're going to have to do first. As there aren't usually that many on any given planet, I feel we will have to round up one bunch, then test it using them..."

[Josh]

He glanced at Pater. This sort of work was indeed right up their alley.

"I can commit a squad of Deathwatch to this as well as a company of stormtroopers. If needed, it is quite likely possible to persuade some of the Chapters I have established relations with to commit forces to this cause."

[Pcm979]

"I have under my command five Deathwatch and a great deal of combat-grade servitors." Pater said quietly. "I also have amicable relations with several Chapters; However, most of them are quite some distance away at this point, and fully engaged in their own battles."

[Josh]

"We are not pressed on the timetable for this," he pointed out. "It could well take years to properly assemble. It could also serve well to glorify the Chapters we have been feeding the Adraxian weaponry, strengthening their position and prestige."

[Pcm979]

"You have not encountered the Chapters I am in communication with, then." Pater noted neutrally.
