"A public apology? A vow for me not to play to rough?"

Garth had a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he stared at the ceiling. Yeah, he could guess what they wanted....it wasn't exactly what he desired though.

"Your bosses want me to turn over my life, and work for them...to give up my freedom." Those caramel eyes focused on Blackheart, "Or am I missing the mark?"

"That's right. In exchange this goes away, you get a decent paycheck, and you get to continue beating the shit out of metas. Don't worry, a lot of people upstairs share your opinion of metas. Of course, to them you're just another meta too so you won't be invited to any fancy lunches."

The irony wasn't lost on Garth. Get paid to "beat up" on Metahumans. In his case, it wasn't beating up on them, it was killing them he was after.

"Only one problem with that - What's to stop me from deciding I've had enough and go A.W.O.L.? Or is that going to be taken care of to?"

"Let's say I do take the offer, what exactly am I going to be doing? Work for Ultima, be a good little agent, go through training courses and file a report every day?"

"You like federal prison, then go ahead and go AWOL. It won't take us long to find you and you'll be living like a dog until we do. Fuck up badly enough and its also back to the deep dark hole. Be a good operative and you walk away a free man with a decent sized chunk of money. The men upstairs are unlikely to want reports. Results is a different story."

Garth's eyes narrowed on Blackheart, before he nodded his assent.

"Fine...you have yourself a new agent."

Tobias' face remained the same blank slate, even as he agreed to the proposal.

"Good." One down, one to go. He detoured to the caffeteria, grabbed an apple and quckily ate it before heading over the room where Legacies was secured.

"Enjoying our hospitality?" he asked dryly.

Mark looked up, the suit was slumped around him, in places it had been moved away so as to keep tabs on the human's health. Mark's face was out in the open, and he looked rather drugged. His silver tinted eyes looked towards the agent. "It was much better while I was in the military." Mark almost seemed to smile. "So what is it you want? I doubt your boys have nursed me back to health out of concern."

"Of course we have. My name is Blackheart because I'm such a softy. The fed wants your services and is willing to pay you quite respectably for them. Interested?"

Mark's eyes narrowed. "They need another meatshield you mean. I imagine my refusing will have me locked away in a place I don't belong for a very long time."

Mark snorted. Typical government bullying. You were with them or you were disposed of as 'nicely' as possible. "So despite everything I've done for this country they'd happily throw me in jail. What's the job?" It was rather obvious Mark was not making any decisions in his questions.

Mark paused for a moment, listening to the voice in his head. He smiled. "I'm already a hero, though I suppose your higher-ups could deal with that nicely. Am I off the payroll once this job is done should I wish it?"

Mark nodded his assent. "Alright then, I'll take the job." Mark leaned his head back against the array he was on. "Any word on the telepath that attacked?"

"Avatar has friends looking out for it. We should get it pretty soon. Think of it as a bonus." He turned to the security personel. "Let him loose and get him what he wants within reason. He just joined the team."

Damn he was hungry. He back towards Avatar was. Legacies had gone better than he hoped. He hadn't wanted to put the screws on the guy, but those were the breaks. Hopefully Spectre and Avatar would go smoothly.

Mark smiled as the suit flexed some and seeped over his face once again, the medical equipment that was attached fell off of Mark as the restraints were loosened. Legacies took a bit of a wobbly step and then another. He glanced back at the officers. "Don't tell anybody what I look like." Mark asked for nothing else except for directions to the cafeteria. His apartment, which he had covered for the next two months anyway, was hardly ever used, and carried nothing of value. Mark made his way towards the cafeteria.

As Blackheart entered the room, Alex stood up relatively straight. He had sifed into human form and acquired clothes.

"So, what can I do for you?"

Even if he had never been a boyscout, he certainly fit the profile.

Niner wandered into his kitchen space. He reached for the fruit bowl. Empty.

Damn.

Niner lifted his hand and a pack of cigarettes floated over. He took one out with Tk and stuck it in his mouth. He picked up a nearby lighter and used TK to light it. He took a deep breath and felt his headache start to lessen. He pulled out another cloak, differently colored from the one with bird shit on it. He opened the grate that lead outside and 'ported to a roof nearby. He needed to go get some food.

Before Blackheart entered the room, Michael Kovacs and the Crocodillion were chatting.

"Ah, so you're a man under all those scales and claws. You're not just a thinking crocodile who can stand on two feet.

He offered his hand.

"My name is Michael. Whats your name?"

Damn, I really need some coffee...

Anderson stepped between the front seats, settled down into the driver's seat and moved out.

Noticing a small coffee shop on the corner, he figured he might as well. Finding a parking meter, grumbling at the price as he dug for quarters, he stepped into the back, and changed into jeans and a clean white t-shirt; both rarely got worn, so they stayed in pretty good shape.

Pulling a somewhat tattered but still serviceable suit jacket from under the cabinet, he shrugged it on and was stepping out the side door when he looked at the mirror, and saw his face. Or rather, his mask. He sighed, stepped back in and undid the straps, pulling it off, feeling slightly odd in the process...

Averting his gaze from the mirror as he went out this time, he closed the door and went in, bee-lining to the shelves with bagged coffees. Inhaling the scent and smiling lopsidedly, he selected a few and headed to the register.

He looked idly over his shoulder as the cashier was ringing up the tally, and saw her.

Hmm. What do I do?

He whispered to the cashier, "Cute girl behind me there, with coffee and Danish. She paid yet?"

"No sir, but the boss told me it was on the house... I think he wasn't too happy about it though."

"Right. I know her, will cover it. That okay?"

Cashier smiled and nodded, and added it on. He paid with a pair of twenties and left, hoping she hadn't recognized him. As he got into the van, he opened the cabinet behind the front seat and put the coffee bags in, grabbed the old one-- he checked the date and grimaced. No wonder it tasted like ass... and threw it into the trash can on the corner. Changing back into his clothes and putting his face back on, he drove away towards the center of town, where the Senator had been kidnapped.

Little did Niner know, he was being watched. A tiny sparrow was nested on the rooftop he was on, and had heard Avatar's call to action. She waited for her mate to return to feed the offspring, and once he did, she made sure her search for food took her in the general direction of where she sensed Avatar was.

...

"Well not technically a man" Alex said as he took the other man's hand with a real human smile.
"That would require me being human, as it stands I cannot be classified as in the genus Homo, but rather in the genus Lycanthropus. But I am rambling again. My name is Alex. Pleasure to meet you"

..

The little sparrow finally found her master, and had a full crop full of food to boot. She landed on a windowsil and looked in through the open window upon Avatar shaking another mans hand. She tweeted a brief call into the room and Avatar's ears picked it up. He acknowledged her, and then information she conveyed to her with a smile and a nod mentally told her to return to nest, and feed her offspring. He would take care of it

"We will have to ask Legacies that. He was the one he telepathically threatened and focused his attacks on." he sighed and looked at the clock

"If it's all the same to you guys, the sun will be coming up in a few minutes, I can already see the sky becoming lighter. Can we take this outside?" he gestured to the multitude of patches of dried blood which would soon become actual scabs that covered his body

"That spike-skin did a number on me before I put him down. I need to get into the sunlight to heal these, they are starting to itch"

Niner 'ported down into an alley near a food mart. He saw a young man walking by. He reached out with his telepathy and ensnared the young man's brain. He directed the man to buy a bag of fruit and some bread from the mart and after the man did so, Niner had him walk into the alley. He took the bags from him, erased his memory and 'ported back to the rooftop. He then did a rapid series of teleporting, to confuse anyone tracking him and made his way back home.
