"Not so bad, some ego bashing going on and shit like that. Blackheart ain't a bad boss all things considered. It's not a safe job but then there aren't many of those around I think. Course I may change my opinion later." Blast said.
Hotfoot nodded and followed Ghost. He looked to Blast and cocked his head. "So, you just signed up, huh? I have to admit, I thought about it, but I was always worried about, you know, losing control of my life. How's it been so far?"

"Well I guess I could see where some egos would get in the way, kinda like when you've got a roomie that gets on your nerves after a while. Blackheart seemed kind of high strung about some stuff, but I guess that happens when you're in his position." He looks ahead at Ghost and tilts his head, "What about you man, why'd you sign up?"

Ghost perked his head up and looked behind him. "Joined the Army at 18. Got my powers at 26, after that, its classified until two years ago when I joined Ultima. Any other questions?" He asked, reaching the elevator to ride down to the gun cage.

"You mean you didn't go into the Military's program? Huh, I always thought the Army was pretty protective of its assets. Of course, I'll admit I'm not familiar with Ultima in general and how it plays with the rest of the government." He looked between the both of them and shrugged. "So what's the deal with these guys? I mean, other than what I saw tonight, I'm not up on exactly what's going on."

Mark Roberts, known better as Legacies, openned an eye and looked around the room. All around him he sensed more than saw, and saw more than sensed, the medical equipment that surrounded him. He felt the steady hum of the machines as they kept tabs on his health, noting his increased breathing and heart rate now that he was awake again. On the wall were long sheets of X-Rays showing multiple fractured bones. Legacies let out a small sigh as the symbiote reformed over his face. In the interceding time much of his form had regrown and he'd regained his strength. Legacies felt fine but the tight restraints that still held him to the medical table told him otherwise. Sliding a tendril out slowly Legacies tapped the call button once.
A few minutes later a nurse came in, with two guards flanking behind her, guns held at the ready. "Yes Mr. Roberts?"
"Legacies." was the quick, emotionless reply
The nurse looked confused and worried over the reaction of the alien that lay before her. "Yes, of course... What was it you needed?"
"What is the status of our team?" Was the soft reply from the silver figure strapped to the table.
The nurse continued to look confused for a few moments at the odd use of language before looking down at her sheets. "Uhh, yes. I believe they just went on a mission involving local business. Stopping robbers or some sort of thing."
The head turned to look at the woman. "Robberies?" The tone of voice sounded incredulous.
"Well, I believe so..."
"We doubt it." The head laid back down on the table. "That's all we need, leave us."
Witout hesitation the nurse left the room, shivering some after having been in the presense of such an alien figure.
Legacies closed his eyes again and focused on slowly repairing his body. Piece by piece bones were knit back together. Any outerwounds had already been healed, now were just the bigger problems.

Argent watched Gravitus leave, then Ghost, Blast and Hotfoot. That left her alone with ...
"Blackheart, you should go speak to Dr Cavanuagh now. She should know what's happening to you."

"Can't say what I did for twelve years. Anyway, Freak Legion. They're pretty much social outcasts turned terrorists, and we are taking them down. Pretty much an easy run to help build teamwork." "Cavanaugh's got enough on her plate at the moment," Blackheart replied. "Besides, she just checked me over a couple of weeks ago. It's growing, its hit my spine. Nothing new since then."

"Yesterday, the man and the demon's emotions were like the Earth and the Moon; together, yet seperate," Argent stated softly. She took a step nearer, her hand out to touch him. "Today ... you have been fighting images of destruction and bloodlust."Cynical Cat wrote:"Cavanaugh's got enough on her plate at the moment," Blackheart replied. Hotfoot didn't really mind Ghost's evasive nature, he had dealt with it all the time growing up, but his eyebrow lifted up as the older man talked about the mission being easy. "Dude, tell me you didn't just say that, please. That breaks, like, twelve laws of the Murphy Conventions. I mean, we're getting set up with hazmat gear, right? That alone tells me we're going in to some nasty stuff."Agent Fisher wrote:"Can't say what I did for twelve years. Anyway, Freak Legion. Ghost started laughing at Hotfoot's statement. "Compared to the stuff I've had to do, this is going to be an easy run, but your right, it probably will go wrong."

"It's nothing," said Blackheart. "He's been spiked into my endochrine system for a while, being able to flip the switch into fight or flight mode whenever it wanted. Really, it's nothing."

"Well then I'll get ready for that." He smirks and looks around the elevator, slowly counting down the seconds until the doors opened, each one feeling longer than the last. Finally, they slid open and Hotfoot followed the other two out, letting Ghost lead the way.
"Seriously though, apart from the fact that some of them are just plain nasty, anything I should watch out for? Like what happens if my suit gets torn?"

Ghost walked down the halls, everyone clearing the way for the trio. "If your suit gets torn, and there is the wacky gas in the air; let Blackheart, myself, or Argent know. Then, sit down, close your eyes, and cover your ears. Gravitas or Argent will get you out before you completely trip out." Ghost reached the door of the armory/ equipment storage. He walked in and waved to Harry.
"Hey Harry. Need to swap out weapons and order up some MOPP suits. Say about..." Ghost started ticking off fingers and counting in his head. "Hold on." He tapped on his comm. "Blackheart, Argent, are you two going to need NBC suits when we go in?" He asked. He turned back to Harry. "While we're waiting, do you have any AA-12 shotguns? And if you do, can I get one with drums and some shells for that?"

Great, just what tonight needed, a drug-induced hysteria. That would certainly top off the other sick stuff he'd seen so far. He sat back and watched Ghost order guns and ammo like anyone else would order a number five at a fast food joint. "You know, it would probably help if I had a radio to make contact with. Um, Harry, right? You wouldn't happen to have any radios for speedsters, would you? I have a problem with the normal ones and distortion." Harry nodded and went back to getting the rest of the items. "Thanks man, you are a lifesaver, I mean that."

Blast looked at the gas mask and rubbed his mask... Which covered his whole face... Maybe not the best uniform choice.

Hotfoot eyes Blast and shrugs. "Hey, look at the bright side, even without the mask, these hoods should keep everything but your baby blues from peeking out, and I don't think there will be many reporters there."
Harry handed a headset to Hotfoot and pointed out a few key controls. The speedster smiled and tried it on. "Thanks man, I'll give it a test run when I'm in a less...uhm, volitile area." He wanted to try it now, but the idea of going hot in a room not too far from crates of ammo and explosives struck him as not the best idea.
"Anyway, it's not like I'd know you from Adam anyway, you know? If you want I'll look the other way when you get your gas mask on."

Ghost started to laugh. "Too bad, Kid. This is why I don't wear a mask. Anyway, once we get them, we'll head back to the conference room, and me and Blackheart will teach you how to put them on."

Argent laid her hand on his arm, the contact snapping her weakened empathy into full focus. What she saw made her eyes go wide and flare silver. "Blackheart..... you're merging....."Cynical Cat wrote:"It's nothing," said Blackheart. "He's been spiked into my endochrine system for a while, being able to flip the switch into fight or flight mode whenever it wanted. Really, it's nothing."

"Of course I'm merging," Blackheart said gently. "Been doing that my whole life." Argent's feelings were . . . . uncomfortable, in part because his blood was up and he wanted to either kill something or fuck someone and she was right here. Right here, sleeping with someone else, and give off prey vibes. Bad business.
He resisted the impulse to grab her head and kiss her and instead gently removed her hand from his arm. "This is nothing new," he rasped, deliberately harsh. "We have a job to do." He walked away, heading down to suit up.

Argent watched him walk away, frowning faintly over the last surge of emotions before he'd removed her hand and walked away. It told her something important ... David the man was still in control for now. Even if he was in denial.
Shadows brought the office phone to her, and she dialed for the building operator. "Dr. Cavanaugh." she said softly. "You don't have a number? Yes... I'm sure she's with Ultima. Thank you."
Argent hung up the phone, frowning more. It seemed she would have to check with the medical staff herself. She could check on Legacies as well.....
She shadow-stepped, appearing at the nurse's desk. "I am Argent. I need a message given to Dr. Cavanaugh, or her assistant, regarding Agent Blackheart. Get someone quickly. They can find me in Legacies' room for now."
She could have called herself 'agent', she thought as she walked away. It may have gotten more respect from the nurse, or given more urgency to her message. It did not matter. Cavanaugh or her assistant knew she was one of Blackheart's team. They may even recall she was an empath. But for now, she needed to see Legacies. He had made a promise to Blackheart.
Slipping into the room through the shadows, she deliberately made enough noise to alert the seemingly sleeping symbiote before speaking. "Legacies... can you hear me?"

The silver figure did not move but the shadow dragon was being watched. From somewhere within the suit the thing known as Legacies spoke.
"Yes, we can hear you. We are somewhat distracted at the moment however, do continue though. We shall pay attention, there isn't much else to do."

Argent didn't need to, but she stepped closer to the bedside anyway, to look down at Legacies 'face'. "We just returned from handling some of the Freak Legion. We had just decided to leave them alone for the moment, when Ultima sent us out to back up the police. A new meta had warned them... a speedster calling himself Hotshot."
She gave Legacies more details on the fight, including what Blast found inside the one that had attacked him, and how Blackheart was ordering the attack. "Saibot is scouting... but I worry more about Blackheart," she admitted softly. "You saw inside them. You saw the seperation between them... how one was angry, the other at peace. That's changed."

The mouth on Legacies face seemed to turn into a grin. "Freak Legion. We would enjoy rending their leader in two. We owe him." Legacies pondered the rest of the information for a few moments. "And how has Blackheart changed?" Legacies could already tell it wasn't for the better, but specifics would be good.

"Their emotions have merged," Argent explained. "The seperation between them has broken. For now, Blackheart is controlling himself, feeling the demon's suggestions but not acting on them." She knew the urge Blackheart had felt before he'd walked away, but that was between them alone. "If we face the Freak Legion as a whole, I fear he may give into the demon's bloodlust."
