Agent Ryan stepped through with Blackheart. He had managed to find a Tac Team member near the infirmary. He also grabbed a large jacket and put it on to cover his vest and weapon. Ryan returned and joined Blackheart in traversing the tear of time and space.
He looked around. "Boss, I'm gonna get the cops to get a perimeter set up. I'm not a heavy hitter, so I'll leave the fighting to you guys."

Legacies didn't respond to Blackheart's query, the symbiotes patience had run out. Running at an incredible speed along the ground Legacies closed on his pray, a tendril lashing out and wrapping around a lamppost. Jumping into the air Legacies let out a high-pitched scream and landed infront of the group, the tendril he had latched to the lamppost running through the group. A second tendril lashed out to grab onto a stop sign behind Legacies.
The long spike-toothed jaw hung listlessly for a moment before moving as Legacies spoke. "You have something of ours. We are going to give you one chance to give it back..."

Blast took the box in his hand. He "reached" for it carefully, last thing he wanted was for it to throw him across the room or something. With his luck it was a cranky and whiney as it's owner. The energy in it was clear... Pure was the best word he could come up with. Like those commericals for bottled water with the mountains springs and what not. It flooded him quickly and almost effortlessly.Whomever made the box had not liked demonics, which was why even the light was sometimes harsh on her. She was only assuming that it would accept Blast; naive, trusting, helpful, heroic-wannabe child-man as he was.
He put down the box blinking at the sensation.
"That was... interesting." He muttered.
"it takes two sides to end a war but only one to start one. And those who do not have swords may still die upon them." Tolken

"I'm sure you're mistaken. Now move along and get out of our way," came the response from one of them. He was huge, towering over the symbiote.Charon wrote:The long spike-toothed jaw hung listlessly for a moment before moving as Legacies spoke. "You have something of ours. Another of the government goons, a shorter skinny man with red hair, reached out, brushing his fingers over the tendril, a malicious grin on his face. The tendril began to turn black where the man touched it.
"Yeah, get out of here before you get hurt."

"That's our Legacies, never one for subtly." Gravitas grunted. "Let's go speak with them. Be reasonable. Be civil."
Gravitas, a face that found itself across the world, moved forward to confront the men. "Gentlemen. We need to talk." The height difference between the big man and Gravitas was even more pronounced, given the Nova stood maybe five foot one inch.

The redhead laughed as he saw the other two approach.
"My my. It's like a celebrity field day. Now all we need is Pulsar and Captain Liberty. Where's my pen and notebook..."
The others in the group began to spread out. They did this slowly, a step at a time. The towering man looked down at the two newcomers.
"Gravitas and Blackheart. There is no need for this confrontation. Especially in such a... public place. I think it would be advisable for to take your comrade and leave."
The black discoloration on the tendril began to grow, creeping up towards Legacies' body and down towards where it held the light post.

Looking to his side, Ryan noticed the men spreading out. He was standing slightly away from the group, at a newspaper stand. He looked on like a lowbrow rubber necker. He unzipped the jacket, but kept his front turned from the goons, waiting for everything to go to hell in a handbasket before he revealed himself. He just hoped that none of the men had recognized him.

The silver eyes of the symbiote flashed as the realization that something bad was happening flashed. Quickly the 'infected' portion of the tendril was cut off and flopped to the ground.
Every fiber of Legacies body was screaming to pierce the insolent whelp of a human and then stick his body on the highest building in the city, but for now Legacies remained stationary.
"We shall leave only when you return what is ours. Do not make us take it by force." Legacies stared directly at the man that had done the deed, his alien eyes boring deep into him as the silver form of the symbiote writhed with energy, wishing to be expelled into the ranks of their enemies.

The redhead glanced down at the flopping tendril and coughed nervously. The black corruption was creeping up faster now. One of the other goons nealt down next to it, extending a finger that shifted into a metal blade. Neatly he sliced the tendril above the spreading darkness and picked up the untouched piece, handing it to the man that Legacies now stared at.
The redhead glanced down at the piece again then at the others.
"Umm, yeah. As much as I hate to spoil a perfectly good party and all perhaps we'll want to move across the street to continue this conversation. Like, oh say... in the next thirty seconds or so..."
With that the goons began the move, slowly and calmly, away from the blackening piece of Legacies.
The severed piece that was being held twitched and moved then fell still. It took on a shimering quality and liquified, being absorbed into the skin. The man looked up at Legacies, his head tilted sideways as if pondering the creature before him. Legacies reflection was clear in the man's glasses. He smiled and giggled as they moved across the street, never saying a word.

Blackheart grabbed the redhead by the throat and dug in his thumb. "Congratulations asshole. You just gave me grounds to arrest all of you. Let me tell you, as someone who used to work deep black ops, I happen to know how I can lose you all in the system beyond even the abilities of your bosses to find. You stupid fuck."

The redhead grinned and reached up, clutching Blackheart's hand. His face began to turn a red to match his hair, veins standing out on his neck and head, pulsing as what little blood and oxygen was reaching his head moved.
"Ar-rest t-this...asshole," he choked out, his eyes bulging slightly.
Blackheart's hand began to turn the same color as the piece of Legacies's tendril laying on the ground. His costume began to smoke as its hue shifted.
The big man glanced at the two then at the piece of tendril on the ground.
"Save this for another time, gentlemen. We need to move. Now let Agent Bryant go before he turns you into a walking timebomb. There are to many innocent civilians you may inadvertantly hurt when you go boom. Even Ultima frowns on killing when it can be avoided."

"Thanks," said Blackheart. "Public endangerment is added to the list of crimes. You know my name. I can stand to lose the hand. In two seconds, I blow your head off to preserve the public or you stand down. Gravitas, rift to somewhere unpopulated please."

The big man sighed and shook his head.
"You're not arresting anybody, and you've got a few minutes before you take out a small block so it won't just be your hand. And so far the symbiote threatened us to begin with, followed by you attacking us. So I would say we're on even footing."
He raised up his arm which had quickly become a rather large set of guns, all primed and ready.
"In one second I blow your head off and end the threat entirely. We stay here and discuss this rationally. No teleports, no games, no more threats."

Searing blue-white beams flashed from Blackheart's eyes vaporizing his the big man's gun hand. The searing beams amputated Blackeart's own hand at the wrist. "If you notice jackass, the kabloomie effect isn't going past my hand. My symbiote runs this flesh. No one alters it but it, otherwise I could get rid of the fucking thing. My odds of making it past thirty suck, by there are some upsides. Gravitas, Disposal. Now. Next one of you psychos even thinks of blinking wrongs is ash. This gets run my way."

Bryant took a big gulp of air as the hand around his neck released its death grip. He took another one before he had the breath to hoarsely stammer out, "R-run."
Bryant turned and stumbled, caught himself and started moving towards the other side of the street. The other mirriorshades likewise scrambled away from the explosive bodyparts. Hayes cradled his seared stump of a hand with his other, wincing in pain as he moved. It could be dealt with later back at proper medical facilities, but for the time being the most important thing was to get Carver back and intact. He was one of the few metas alive that had the ability to do what was required next.

Blackheart considered frying their legs, but chose restraint. "Gravitas, please pin those assholes and send the explody bits flying and away from innocent people."

The chunks of flesh converted into bio-explosives winked out with a horrible sucking sound and a clap of thunder, as air rushed into the implosions that happened. Gravitas' gaze swept across the street, grabbing the Mirrorshades in a field of gravity around three G's; enough to slow and incapacitate, but unlikely to kill.
Bryant.. Bryant wasn't so lucky. He was being lifted into the air, without contact with the ground. The short Nova strode after the trapped mirrorshades.
"To wield this power, one makes a choice: Are you a god, or a monster? I think your friend chose monster. Tell me why he shouldn't get to be the first person in your world to experience passing the event horizon. Go on."

Legacies had never been as kind as Gravitas, this much had been obvious from the beginning. Adding in now that these government officials had stolen his 'child' only meant that the somewhat restrained Legacies was in no mood to pull his punches.
As the mirrorshaded men scattered, Legacies had interest in only one, the one who carried his symbiote. Legacies was upon him in a flash, tackling the man and sending him flying into a wall, pinned by dozens of tendrils which for the moment confromed around him before digging into the brick behind him.
"We are feeling gracious, scum. Do not press this matter further, we know you have it and in two seconds we shall feel no regrets in killing both you and it, despite this country's laws."
Legacies was not stupid however, his focus was also on his surroundings, and if their whole operation was based on the taking of his symbiote...
"Any of you move or come near me this man will die before you can blink. Our only concern is the return of what is ours, if we recieve it," the silver figures rictus grin openned some, a sprawling toungue falling out and almost brushing against the man he had pinned. "We shall leave."

Hayes glanced over at Gravitas.
"Bryant is an idiot, granted. But he's a useful idio-"
"Hey boss! I'm right here y'know!"
"Shut up Bryant. You've already caused enough trouble."
"Hrmph."
"As I was saying, he's a useful idiot. Useful to us and who we work for, and as I'm sure your dear Blackheart could tell you, that is someone who you probably do not want to be on their bad side. While granted you could kill him and probably every one of us standing or floating here today, the collateral damage would be high and it would be a pointless activity for all that would ultimately result with people who currently have no interest in you becoming very interested in making your life difficult. Something I'm sure that you would probably enjoy avoiding in your already heavily hassled and monitored life."
Over against the wall, the man Legacies had pinned was grinning and staring at him. A tentacle extended from the man's chest and snaked up, brushing against the underside of Legacies' chin.
"Coochie coochie coo..."
Tune stood her ground, remaining silent amongst the egos. In that silence and lack of show she worked her own form of the voodoo that she do so well. She, like her namesake would suggest, began to tune her teammates abilities, making their bodies that much more efficent and capable, making their powers that much more potent. It was a temporary effect at best at the moment, something she was working on. But it was still a very useful ability for all concerned.
Hayes glanced over at Legacies and Carver.
"Kindly tell your symbiote to leave my man alone. He's not exactly capable of answering his questions. At this point he probably doesn't even realize what's happening. Though," Hayes commented, an amused look on his face. "He does appear to be having tons of fun. I think he views your Legacies as a puppy, or a baby maybe."

The silver eyes went wide as the tendril came out, reaction took over and the symbiote that covered over Carver tightened, threatening to break limbs. The powerful jaws of the symbiote suddenly shot forward, grabbing at the tentacle and yanking on it with all it's force. As the tentacle tore free Legacies released Carver from his grasp and took a few steps back, looking for all the world like a demon from hell.

"You don't intimidate me." Gravitas said dryly. "The absolute worst you can do is initiate full-scale, nuclear warfare against me. And I do not fear that." In truth, he had survived it. "Assault was made against my teammate. Kidnapping." The violent removal of the symbiot was ignored. "And now threats. I'm sure you belong to some group who can make my life hell. But.. Rest assured.. I can cause alot more damage to your bosses than you can to me."
Gravitas flexed his fingers. "Easy way or hard way. I'm being very benevolent, considering I'm not currently killing the little psychopath of yours who tried to detonate a bomb in a crowded street."

"If you firmly believe that that is the absolute worst that could be done to you, then I believe you to be at least somewhat niave. There is no threat involved. It is simply a statement of fact. You could most likely easily kill us all today with your vaunted powers. However that just gets you a few dead people, no information that is useful to you and a lifetime of looking over your shoulder wondering where and when.
"No, we don't work for the same people who you did, but in the end all of us in this line of work, work for someone similar somewhere. Intimidation isn't my game here. It's a simple statement of fact."
Hayes shrugged. He had been threatened before, been dead before. Their words were rather pointless in trying to scare him. If they arrested him, he would be out in an hour if that long. If they killed him, another would take his place. If they tortured him, he would kill himself, gaining them nothing.
Carver let out a soft moan of pain, a sad look crossing his eyes as he slumped to the ground, his fingers running a circle around the wound in his chest, smearing the darkening blood. Already the hole was beginning to close, skin flowing over it and sealing it. And just as quickly the man seemingly forget that he was ever injured at all, a look of curiosity and playfullness in his eyes as he stifled another giggle.

"Indeed...," Argent answered dryly. "You have stood there glowing for the last five minutes." The shadow-born woman had moved while Blast had been recharging, all the way to the other side of the room, having just stepped out from behind the counter that seperated kitchen from living room. It was almost as if she'd taken shelter behind it. "Shall I assume it recharged you fully, and that we can now attempt to track down Saibot?"frigidmagi wrote:He put down the box blinking at the sensation.
"That was... interesting." He muttered.
