"We have the list of places they were, they went, they stashed out, where they got hit... I want to eyeball this. I want to see what the hunters were looking at when they closed in on them. I need to know how hard these neighborhoods are, and if we should be scouting this from the ground, or from the van. Past that, we start knocking on doors and making our inquiries."

Guns were arranged neatly over the table. "Take your pick man."
Mace shook his head. "I don't need that kind of backing. I need data."
The little man shook his head. "Data isn't cheap. What are you looking for?"
"Who took down my crew."
"Christ!" the man exclaimed. "Seriously? Even Cloud?"
"Yes."
"Frag."
"Can you get it Wally?"
"No," said the little man. "Way out of my league. I do know some people who know some people. Let me make some calls. I can probably find someone who can do it."
"Thanks Wally. What'll this cost me?"
"Nothin'" said the little man. "I owed Cloud. He would want me to pay you off in his stead."
"Alright." Mace headed for the door.
"Big man, you be careful out there."

OoC: My appologies for not posting sooner, work and such makes for busy life and not a lot of good RP time. Lets get this rolling again.

"Sounds like as good a place as any. I've got the address from the data disc."
The vechicle turned the corner and manuvered deeper into the heart of new york, heading more or less towards the warehouse where the team got geeked.
"We'll be there shortly. So talk people, or else I'll put on techno-polka. I hear it's all the rage down south."

The safe house was a dillapitated building in a run down neighborhood that had never been entirely rebuilt after the big earthquake hit. There were more devil rats on the street than people, although one doubted whether the neighborhood met the standards of the awakened rodents.
The safehouse in questions was a three story run down brick building. Shell casings littered the area around building. All the windows were shot out and bloodstains marked the sidewalk and alley. High powered rounds had punched through the walls at several points.

"Well, we knew whoever took them went in hard," he said, whistling at the damage. "Didn't blow the building, though."
Safer to blow the building, usually, but harder to confirm the kill. He knew they hadn't gone in explosive, but the initial evidence was that this was a team of heavy hitters that went for a hard lightning strike to make utterly sure of overwhelming the opposition.
"Talk to me, Wraith, Geryon." This was their field, after all. His not-exactly-amateur eyes were scoping the neighborhood, figuring out how he'd line up an approach on this position, and noting anywhere where the other guys appeared to have taken a differing method.

Lining up on this place would be easy. At least one of the surrounding buildings was sure to be unoccupied by anything beside vermin, and the open roadways would allow a hit team to literally disembark right in front of the place. It tooked like some of the ordinance was fired from directly in front of the building.

"They got hit hard, thats for sure. Hostiles come rolling up, maybe two vehicles. Guys on the side closer to the building open fire out the window, keep the boys pinned. Team exits the vehicles, fire while advancing. Heavy rounds, made for going through stuff. Tossed in some shock grenades, then moved in hard. They got hit hard and by professionals. If they were smart they had some men covering the escape routes. Thats who I would do it. Three vans, two towards the front, one covering the back. Boom boom boom. It was over in five minutes."

The available evidence was consistent with Wraith's guess. Maybe it happened a little differently, but it was close enough to what happened.

Chase killed the engine, definatly not liking the look and feel of this 'hood. He whistled as he surveyed the damage.
"And 20Â¥ nobody heard a thing of course. Hell there probably could have been a dozen people outside and no one saw it happen."
Chase closed his door before walking towards the building.
"So we going inside or what," he asked before trying to find his way inside.

"Yeah," he said. "Poly, we'll need to see you can pick up anything."
Now would be a good time to find out if any of the mage's abilities ran in that direction. He gave himself a mental smack on the head for not querying before.

Getting in was easy, do to the shattered doors. Dried blood and chalk marks told the story of where the combatants were wounded and killed. It was obvious to an experienced eye that the runners had taken an honour guard with them to planet Hell and that the hitters had taken their dead with them. The remnants of a good security system, strong doors, locks, and the places where appliances once stood painted the picture of a modest, but secure doss.

Chase stopped in his tracks as he entered into the former safehouse and just took a moment to soak it all in. Blood splattered the walls and floor, dried and caked, permanently staining the surfaces with a reddish brown layer. Chalk lines overwrote themselves on some of the spots of blood and were visable on the random patches of clean surface. Whatever had happened here was a blood bath, a massacre.
He stepped further into the room and began to look around, feeling somewhat vulnerable in this house of death. Someone got through the house's defenses and made it into a charnel. Not exactly a comforting thought. He was suddenly very glad that he wasn't capable of talking to spirits because he was sure that they would be rather disturbing in a place like this.
After looking around he was puzzled about what exactly they were suppose to find here. It had been picked clean it looked like save for spent brass and what looked to be bullets embedded into the walls. He stooped down and picked up a few of the casings and managed to pull free a bullet from the wall using a piece of metal he found on the ground. Definatly not much to go on. This was disappointing to be sure, but maybe they'd get lucky and they could get a ballistics test run on this stuff and come up with some oddball obscure gun that only a few known groups use. Yeah... And Ares was going to name him CEO tommorow in a surprise move. He wasn't going to hold his breath.

He looked around, not speaking on his conclusions, because who knew what kind of a/v tapping the place had had laying around.
They knew for pretty sure that the team had inflicted casualties in return. That was a new point of reference. They knew that the team that hit were pros.
Pros meant they were almost certain to be dealing with either Docwagon or Crashcart for their medical needs.
Which meant that they had a line for Whisp to follow, seeing who'd checked into those services, matching them against local and regional runners.
Get the team, get the Johnson. Get the Johnson, get the person who gave the order.
It was one of those simple-sounding equations.
He finished a circuit of the crime scene. There wasanother purpose to coming here, sort of a Zen and the Art of Shadowrunning. It was just a broad sweep, letting his encephalon integrate all the details, then churning them together in random permutations, seeing what might surface.

Chase glanced around one last time and spotted Gil as he was coming in. Chase turned and ambled over to him, slipping the rounds and casings into his pocket for later. As he approached he nodded his head to get his attention.
"Hoi chummer," Chase started, turning his head from left to right again to indicate the entire room. "I'm not 100% on this here but I'm gonna go out on a limb that there aint drek here to find. This place has been picked clean. If the Star didn't grab it, the locals did.
"Here's what I think. We leave here, because this is dead. We've got a fair bit of info on these guys, who not concentrate on finding some live answers from people who knew them? Let's track down their Johnson and anyone else who did biz with them; fixers, chummers, anyone.
"Secondly, see if we can pull up any registrations for any of their gear, guns, vehicles, whatever. It may not lead to much but it'll give us another name.
"And third on our list should be the people who did the hit. Now normally I'd say start looking at Doc or Crash to search their records, but in this instance I don't think that's going to pull much either. This was, for all intents and purposes a very prepared, very tough, very good team. And from what we do know, there is a good possibility that their last run left some people behind that would like them to be less then breathing. So we could easily say this was a corp payback job.
"Off of that assumption we have two more. One being that it was runner team hired through another Johnson by the corp to go after these guys. They might be local, might be out of town, we don't know at this point. They could have put in their contract full medical coverage and if the corp that did this wanted this hush hush they might have sprung for their own coverage and transported the wounded to their own private clinics. Not likely, but possible.
"Second one from this being that it was the corp themselves that did the hit. They managed to backtrack these guys, pulled up one of their security teams and hit these guys hard and fast. Now I'd say that's a pretty mean accomplishment in and of itself. But it gives us something to look for. The guy who gave them the intel. They had to ask questions somewhere. We find the fixer or Johnson who did it and we have a little something more to play with. Now if they did all the work in house we're fragged six ways from sunday. That means they didn't go through someone we could track down and it also means it's going to be harder to find out who did it.
"But that's just me looking at this. Oh, and one other thing," Chase began as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the spent casings and the round he had pulled free. "We need to get these ran through a ballistics guy. See if we can figure out what type of weapons they were using. Just a small piece of data but who knows."

"Whisp can track down the needed information on weapon and vehicle registrations. Possibly find out who they did business with. All of that stuff leads a trail and if anyone can find it, he can"

"Got what you need chummer. IDs, blank cred sticks, passes, and authorization. Crash pad in one of the IDs. All so clean you could eat off them." The dapper man surpressed the urge to play the air drums.
Mace nodded and picked up the package. He slotted a cred stick into the reader. The other man checked. "Alright. We're done." He got up and exited into the club's main dance floor. A minute latter Mace glided through the room and vanished into the night.

The man dabbed the blood away from his mouth with a napkin. His meal had been good, screaming most pleasantly where he had started biting. The meal was still curled up in a corner, moaning piteously. He licked his lips. Life was sweet. Too bad he could indulge like this every day.
Things were beginning to fall into place. He was reasonably sure of who had initiated the strike against him. The mage, Cloud, was now his. Soon he would have the leader of the shadowrunners, or so he had been assured. If those assurances proved false, well then he would have another meal.
His laughter filled the sound proof room. His meal moaned and whimpered. He would have to get a new secretary.
