"Gear and capabilities? I've got it. What do you want to know? And no, this isn't my only 'ride'. I also have a modified Ares TR-55 helo for use as well. And a few drones to shore up some weak points."

"Nice," he said. He wasn't a gearhead, but keeping up with other specialties was a requirement of being a well-rounded runner. "Drone loadout?"

"Complete loadout? One Strato-9 aerial assault drone, compliments of Lone Star. Two E-T Prospero light mini-recon drones with gas powered tranq dart guns. One MCT-Nissan Roto-Drone with smoke dispensor and a SMG. One MCT-Nissan Roto-Drone with with gernade launcher and 5 types of gernades. Everything from smoke to white phospherous to HE rounds. Lets see here. Also have a Winters Systems Steel Lynx ground assault drone with a SMG and GM Bandit ATGM and a Ferret RPD-VI with laser target designator.
"Of course that isn't a full list of all their armaments and weapons loads of course but that should cover a general overview of my little friends."
Chase glanced down at the bag Gil had with him.
"Decker right? What are you packing in your chassis since we're asking questions of who's got what where."
Chase tapped the datajack at his temple softly to point it out for what it was. The common datajack location for someone who decked. And for a while Chase had made his income doing just that. But that had been long years ago and he had gotten out of that game pretty quick. He had wised up and realized it wasn't his line of work and it would get him dead quick. Never mess with something you can't handle. Sage advice that he tried to listen to when he could.

"It started out as a bog-standard Fuchi rig a few years back, after my pal used my previous deck to change the flow of discourse with an elf we having a talk to. It's still got the original..." he paused. "Well, the output line is still stock."
He started rattling off esoteric components, discussing the specific manufacturings for drive, memory and so on, likewise omitting certain details.
"...Sendai tri-pacer on the connection feeds, and..." he stopped, chuckling. "Never ask a rigger about his kids unless you want to see pictures of his drones, never ask a decker about his deck unless you're not going anywhere for a while."
It was an old Seattle saying, one of those painfully true cliches.

Chase chuckled, somewhat amused.
"True enough. And you lost me somewhere around the RAM specs. Been a long while since I played that game. Guess I've missed a few things since."
Chase stretched as much as the seat would allow. Chase smirked and half-laughed as he talked, showing that he wasn't totally serious with his comments.
"So now that we're done with the macho penis contest, lets get back to the original subject at hand. You asked if I was busy. I'll ask again, do you have something for me to do?"

Chase blinked, somewhat taken back by the directness of the question.
"Well to be as blunt as you, no. It's the way the game is played. I don't get a hard-on for adding a bullet to someone's brainpan but it doesn't bother me that much, not anymore anyway."

He nodded. Good. Willing but not looking for the opportunity.
This was the tricky part, but Dancer had said the job and the team was his. He took the plunge.
"This is the execution of a contingency retribution fund. A team of runners got geeked in this neck of the woods a short while back. The job is to find the individual responsible and deliver the same fate to him, her, or it. Payoff is the split on half a mil."

"And rigger makes six. Pots getting smaller all the time. But still a large enough take for everyone, assuming this doesn't take too long and cut into the bank.
"I'm in then if thats what you need. And I hope you have something more to go on then a team got geeked. This is New York and while it may not have the history or prestiege of Seattle we have enough of a runner populace here that a group getting taken out isn't big news unless it had some interesting circumstances."

Chase raised an eyebrow. These chummers had their drek together apparently. Or they had some damned good sources. Either way.
"I hope that the information's been validated as good. No use chasing ghosts. But hell, if half of what you've got holds up it should give us something to go off of.
"Who was the team? I might have heard of them or heard something about this. News gets around."

While Gil talked with Chase, Wraith was in the office room with a blanket on the floor. He had pulled out all the weapons and was breaking them down, to check them and fix if needed. The one Colt M-22A4's sights were all screwed up and the barrel hadn't been cleaned in a while. After finishing with all the six rifles and shotguns, Wraith started on the pistols. He disassembled a Colt Manhunter and cleaned the barrel and worked the slide back and forth. He made sure it was working and then put it back together.

Chase took the data chip and glanced at it then back at Gil. He shrugged and jacked the chip. The data opened readily to his internal systems, the files opening and displaying quickly across his eyes. His encephalon took the data and analyzed it more thouroughly.
The names gave him a momentary pause as he remembered where he had heard them before. They were somewhat familer to him, though not completely.
"Well, if it makes any difference I know the group. Or more accurately, I know of them. Never had any dealings with them. But, from what I do know of them, they had a pretty solid rep. Good group, got things done and were fairly well respected in the biz.
"I'm not coming up with anything else really though. Have you guys tried to hunt down the Johnson that they worked with? Or did he turn up dead too?"
Chase pulled out the chip and glanced at it again before handing it back to Gil. He had all the data stored now and could retrieve it readily enough.

They came for Mace when he went down to the corner store to pick up more milk. It was just outside the gated community in which he lived. The walls and rent-a-cops would only discourage casual trouble makers, but the zip code would ensure the badges would by nearby and coming fast if they even smelt something vaguely like sprawl ganger.
The black Ford van pulling up in front of hm triggered old reflexes. It didn't mean trouble yet. He checked behind him. A dark blue van had pulled up at the other end of the block. The hammer was coming down. Professionals were coming for him, probably a snatch job.
His augmented reflexes kicked in and he sprinted across the street as fast as his enhanced musculature could carry him. His cyber ears caught the sound of side doors sliding open and over the sound of his beating heart.
His Predator came out. The APDS rounds in the hand cannon were hard to come by, but if he needed to shoot he needed to be sure his targets would drop. The were wearing black full body armor, devoid of any insignias. There weapons were comling to bear on Mace as he raced towards a parked car.
The smartgun link projected a crosshair were the bullet would land. Mace fired, catching one in the throat. Blood geysered from the wound and he fell back. Mace put two in the chest of the next guy and he fell back. They opened up. Rounds cracked the window of the car and smacked into the side. Two caught mace in the shoulder. It felt like an ork boxer was using him as a punching bag.
Gel rounds. They definitely wanted him alive. He kept moving. The car might be nice cover, but stopping meant that they would surround him. He put a round into a shooter's thigh, causing him to scream and fold. Another claimed a tire. Gel rounds were falling around him, but he was moving and putting the trees and the cars in the shooter's way. More rounds struck him. He kept moving. And then there was the flash.
Wizard. Mace staggered forward. His adrenaline sack had kicked in a few moments back and his damage compensators helped edit out the pain. More rounds struck. Mace managed to get around the corner and get the side of the house in the way. He could already hear the second van moving.
He touched a button on his watch. This ID was legal, with security permits and everything. And more importantly, a resident The Star would sort these boys quick, if he could just hold out. He ducked around the side of the house and vaulted the backyard fence into another yard.

"Alright. Are we going to wait for your late chummer or are we riding out now? And if so, where do mac?"
Chase grinned stupidly, having wanted to say that since these guys got in his ride. Might as well give them the whole New York experiance, right down to the taxican lingo. Chase took the jack cord and twirled it between his fingers, anxious to jack in and Drive again.

"Just remember, no flash photography. We don't want to scare the indigenous species."
Chase slid the jack in and left his body, merging into the vehicle once more. The engine roared to life. Chase waited till Wraith was in and closed the door before pulling away from the curb smoothly.
"Where to first guys?"

"Hoi chummer."
"It's Mace," said the voice on the other end of the line.
"What can I do for you?"
"Someone just tried a snatch and grab in the middle of the fragging street. Somebody who wasn't afraid of the Star."
"Ouch chummer. What do you want from me?"
"I couldn't reach Cloud or the rest of my crew. Which means we all got hit in 24. I want to know who wants our asses."
"Chummer, that's serious heat your talking about. Corporate or gov."
"Or wizworm."
"Could be that. It'll cost."
"Front me. I'll drop fifty kay on you within forty-eight."
"Done. It'll help if I know about anything heavy you were involved with recently."

"The demolition job? That piece of wetwork?"
"Yes."
"That's not your style."
"The money was good."
"I'm on it. Drop the cash and then you'll get what answers I have."

"Don't worry about the cost. Bring me Mace. Alive."
"Yes sir."
