The goblin squealed and fell to the ground as the dagger entered under a gap in his leather jerkin and lanced straight through his kidney.

Moving into the room with great quickness for a dwarf, the spirited yet slightly inebriated man hefted his hammer and readied for battle.

One goblin, appearing more confident and capable than the others, sprang to his feet, drawing a javelin. He began barking orders to the other goblins as he hurled the small spear at Therius. It slipped in his hand, though, and flew wide.

"Elias, stay behind me," Rauari said, rushing into the room to join the rest. There was no way to charge the goblins before they armed, so she had to settle for passing between Kergan and Etvar to take front. The goblins would find her a very nasty opponent. "Charge me if ya dare, dirtmunchers... I'll break ya all!"

The remaining goblins stood. Listening to their leader's orders, they jabbered menacingly and moved with purpose, spreading out to surround Rauri and Therius.

Elias scuttled up behind Etvar and surveyed the situation. Goblins were moving up to surround Rauri and Therius. That would not do.

He let his mind slip into a trance, bringing forth the words and gestures of one of his spells.

"Exxon Valdez Olestra Lipidium!" his words evoking power, wresting it from the universe and giving it form in the shape of a materialized patch of grease on the dungeon floor, which just so happened to be on the space of ground occupied by two goblins on Rauri's left.

One of the goblins slipped and landed rear-first in the suddenly formed grease slick; the other barely managed to keep his balance.

Eralis had his sword in hand, but he was forced to wait as others stepped through the narrow opening to confront the goblins within. Prayers to Tyr were on his lips, but he did not recite them, for a precept of a different nature was foremost in his mind.

"Tyr helps those who help themselves."

The goblins here were not a threat worthy enough of deploying what limited arsenal of divine power he could call upon. Such power might be needed later after all, and even if not, restraint in the use of such power was always wise. Profligacy in calling upon the powers of one's deity was never wise.

And no lay cleric should be afraid to get his hands dirty...

He raced forward, past those guarding the hallway, into the thick of where the fighting would be, his face contorted in concentration as he prepared to receive the creatures' charges.

Kergan, amongst all the other movement and chaos, had spotted his next target. One standing ten feet from the wall, within direct view of him. That goblin kept looking at others in the party instead of him, which just made that goblin a perfect target.

His greatsword was resting on his left shoulder as he suddenly ran at the goblin. When he reached his target, the blade came up, with both of his hands slamming it down.

The goblin staggered, grievously wounded; the overhand strike had rent straight through his armor and left a gash running from hip to shoulder.

Etvar looked around him. Targets everywhere but he wasn't sure he was fast enough or strong enough to make a difference from where he was now. His head turned back and forth, searching for open targets.
"To hell with it," he muttered to himself as he gracefully flipped his dagger and caught it by the blade. It wasn't his strong suit but he didn't have a choice and it was better then nothing.

Taking aim he whipped his arm back and hurled the dagger at the goblin Kergan had been dealing with.

Seeing there being one stronger goblin, Therius thought to himself 'Time to squish some skulls.' Charging the goblin leader he swings his hammer to end its life.

The prone goblin between Therius and the leader swung his morningstar upwards on a shouted command from his boss and connected.

[Goblin attack: Natural 20, roll to confirm: 17 total. 12 damage. You tempted fate, son.]

Therius' charge then led him directly into Elias' grease spell.

[Make a Balance check against DC 10; if you fail you stop and have to make a Reflex save or fall.]

Therius came skidding to a halt in the grease, but managed not to fall.

The goblin leader laughed maliciously and swept out his sword, advancing around the edge of the grease. He swung the weapon with great precision at the stumbling dwarf, connecting with a gap in his armor.

[23 total attack roll, threat to crit; natural 20 to confirm crit. 14 damage. You are denied your Dexterity bonus to armor class so long as you're in the grease, due to not having 5 ranks in Balance.]

Etvar's throw missed, a combination of the prone goblin being so low to the ground and Kergan standing in his way conspired to cause the dagger to fly wide.

Silently cursing the dwarf for running straight into the magic trap, Rauri realized she was going to have to take out as many as she could before she and the dwarf were cut off from the rest of the party. "Ervalis! Try to help Therius!" she called out as she moved north and west, taking a stand directly between two goblins.

The axe in her hand whirled as the Moonshaen woman arced her body in a graceful, deadly piroutte, striking out at the goblins to her left and to her right simutaneously.

The axe struck both goblins in rapid succession, opening bloody wounds in their bodies. They yammered in anger and pain and swung back with their morningstars. One overreached and swung wide, while the other managed to land a glancing blow. The one standing behind and between the other two stepped up between his comrades and also attempted to hit the woman, but his swing also went wide.

[One hit; one damage to Rauri.]

The goblin who had fallen in the grease swung hard at Therius, connecting with the dwarf's leg as he was distracted by the goblin leader in front of him. The other one in the greased area stepped gingerly out of it and followed suit, though his blow clanged against the dwarf's breastplate and sprang back.

[One hit; five damage to Therius.]

The remaining goblin along the wall took a swing at Kergan, but the weapon failed to bite, with the morningstar's spikes skittering off the man's armor.

"Sweet Azuth you are an idiot Therius!" Called the gnome as he unslung and loaded his crossbow. The grease field started to boil and evaporated, much to Elias' chagrin, heatlessly. He would one day have to create a grease spell that exploded when it wore off....

Eralis couldn't say he disagreed with the gnome, but Rauri had shouted for him to aid the dwarf, and with Tyr's assistance, that is what he intended to do.

He charged forward, the words already forming in his mind, moving past Kergan deeper into the room, ignoring the goblin to his left, who would no doubt lash out at him, as he cried out in a strong, bright voice.

"Tyr is my shepherd!" he cried out as he charged. Let his might flow through me, as water through a fountain. His will be done!"

His left hand glowed bright yellow as he cried, and with sword held high in his right. "The Lord Tyr giveth!" he shouted, as he touched the battered dwarf, releasing the healing energy into his frame. No fast or fancy gestures were these, but a cry of faith, a shout of liturgy, and the magic simply burst into life, as if by a will of its own.

((DM Quicken Spell, Spontaneous Conversion from Doom into Cure Light Wounds))

Healing effect:

Even as he finished releasing the magic energy, Eralis was reversing the grip on his sword as he turned to the prone Goblin to his right. His voice darkened as he spat his challenge.

"... and The Lord Tyr taketh away!"

With that, he plunged his sword down like a giant icepick towards the fallen Goblin

Scarcely had the healing magic flowed into the dwarf than Eralis' blade came down, skewering the prone goblin through the throat. The creature scarcely had time to scream.

After watching Eralis run the goblin through, Kergan was temporarily left without an opponent. Quickly looking around the room, he noticed the one goblin still menacing Eralis, and the three Rauri had managed to take all to herself.

Kergan grinned. He might believe in chivalry when it came to women, sure, but three? That was just greedy.

Running suddenly with his greatsword balanced almost carelessly on his left shoulder, he ran past Rauri and savagely brought the greatsword down on the goblin to her right.

Though Kergan didn't look directly at Rauri, his comment was clearly directed at her. "Being a little greedy, aren't you?"

The goblin behind Kergan took a futile swing at him as he ignored it to charge away towards his compatriots.

The greatsword fell on the already wounded goblin, knocking him bodily to the floor where he lay bleeding.

Etvar moved up to see the rest of the combat and found another likely target. The cleric of Tyr was making heavy inroads into felling another of the goblins but the one to his back may catch him off guard. Etvar intended to help change that quick fast and in a hurry. Being constantly aware that he was far less armored and well able to take the hits that the bigger bruisers could he was forced to preform the less then honorable cheap shots and sneak attacks that hopefully would finish off the opponents this his compatriots started allowing them to move onto another target soon after.

Etvar moved to engage the goblin near Eralis. For a second he thought about merely putting his mace through the things skull but then decided to put it on the ground first. If he didn't kill it at least it wouldn't be moving anywhere so the cleric could finish it off.
(Trip [Improved Trip, no AoO])

(Assuming the trip works)
Etvar popped up after taking the Goblin down and slammed the end of his mace against its face till it stopped moving. It was violent and vicious and brutal, but it was also effective.
Melee attack (mace)

Dmg

(Edit: Fixed target identification. Thought Eralis had already attacked this gobbo. My mistake)

The goblin hit the ground, hard. It was soon followed down by Etvar's mace; the little creature managed to throw up a hand and ward the blow away from his face, but it simply slipped lower and slammed into his leather-encased ribcage. He howled in pain as several ribs audibly cracked.

Attacking the goblin leader again, Therius swung his hammer with intent of causing the now very annoying goblin's death.
