"Zhent reavers? Are these a problem here?" Xander's tone invites conversation and makes it clear he hasn't heard much.

"Aye, they get here, but not much further Saer," he said, using the general term used for people of uncertain rank now. The implication about not getting further brought a grim chuckle from the smoking man. "This year they didn't get too far south, though. Guess they stopped because of the elves returning to the woods," he nodded toward the east nonchelantly, "We'd got plenty of other things to worry about anyway. A few stray orcs is all we're likely to see from up north during the winter. They've got to digest their latest takings, I figure..."

"Then this seldom concerns us," Thaelim whispered to his companions. "We'll just have to be a bit more careful. Let us march for the witch's abode, quickly."

Xander nods in agreement to this and waves a farewell to the strangers. "Thank you sirs for your time, but we have business to return to."

Thaelim cleared his throat.

"How far are we from the Exiled Witch's abode? What could fuel so large a smoke column?" the Shadovar enquired, hoping his more travelled fellows would provide an answer.

While the others glanced at the smoke, Agrammand crouched down to take a look at the yellow flower in the middle of the scorched patch of earth. Curious. He wondered idly if perhaps some magic had caused the damage, and if so then why a yellow flower was growing there.

"I don't know how far we are, but I could suggest the smoke may be from a bonfire of sorts. It is clearly larger than a cooking fire. However, I will suggest we move forward, and soon enough find out for sure."

There was no obvious explanation or meaning to a solitary flower, but the ground had been burnt, not scarred by magic. Of course, some magic might have been involved in the burning, but it was just as likely it had been a bonfire.

Which was a fine guess for what was happening ahead, though even as they watched, the smoke column in the distance began to blow away.

"I am not overly curious about this smoke column," Thalim said. "Let us reach this Exiled Witch quickly."
