They have a video up at their site where the developers talk more about the game. Their target release date is this summer.

Looks like 2d6 and a stat dice, not bad there's a good amount of randomization possible without going to crazy. They're planning on bringing in everyone in a series of books, this is good to... If my players start nattering at me about a Skorne campaign though someone is gonna get knifed.

So there is apparently some previews of character creation in an upcoming No Quarter Magazine (which is Privateer Press's house magazines). Apparently it goes something like this:
Step 1: Choose race, this sets your starting stats. Choosable races are Dwarven, Gobber, Human, Iosan, Nyss, Ogrun, and Trollkin. This also gives you some abilities, the example Dwarf got Load Bearing (no Def penalty from Heavy Armor), +2 ARM bonus, and Connections (Clan)

Step 2: Increase stats, you get 5 points to increase your stats 1 for 1 or 3 for 2. Stats are [Primary:Secondary:Secondary] Physique:Strength:Speed, Prowess:Agility:Poise, Intellect:Knowledge:Perception, Power:No sub stats. No secondary stat can be higher than its primary stat. From memory the Dwarven starting stats were 5:4:4, 3:3:3, 4:3:3, no power was given.

Step 3: Choose archetype, Gifted, Intellectual, Mighty, or Skilled. You can choose 1 ability from the chosen archetype list. The sample Dwarf got Critical:Brutal Damage. We know that magic oriented careers are limited to the Gifted archetype so it would no be a long shot if other careers were archetype dependant.
EDIT: Others listed were Berserker, Countercharge, and Unyielding.

Step 4: Choose TWO careers. Each career comes with a selection of appropriate skills, as I outlined above, which I may be wrong in my interpretation. Some careers also allow access to abilities as the example Military Officer did, the sample given was 'Jack Marshall. The maximum skill level for a starting character is 2, which is only possible with skills that overlap from the 2 careers.
EDIT: Military Officer also came with Connections (Merc company or kingdom's military).

Step 5: Choose gear. Each Career gives specific items (ie magelock pistol/rifle) and/or gold.

2d6 system means that even single point of difference is significant.

Touche. I like the inclusion of the Troll-kin as a playable race. Those boys look like fun.

They were a playable race in the old D&D version of the game and that was before they were their own Hordes faction. Fellcaller is one of the starting careers.
