Okay, after running head first into some major personal issues, I had my creativity massively sapped away, and I hope to get my mojo flowing again by returning to a setting I know rather well: Warhammer 40,000. To that end, I would like to open up with an investigative campaign for Dark Heresy.

INCOMING TRANSMISSION
++++++
FROM: INQUISITOR VOWNUS KAEDE, ORDO HERETICUS
TO: SEE ATTACHED LIST SIGMA-7-3-1-ALEPH-ALEPH-DELTA
++++++

RECENT ACTIVITIES ON SCINTILLA HAVE BEEN DRAWN TO MY ATTENTION. DUE TO ACTS OF [INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE] AND SERVICE TO THE THRONE YOU ALL HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO BEGIN INVESTIGATION INTO POSSIBLE MORAL THREATS ON SCINTILLA. COOPERATION IS MANDATORY AND TRANSPORT WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THOSE NOT CURRENTLY ON THAT WORLD. UPON ARRIVAL YOU ARE TO REPORT TO HIVE TARSUS AND [DATA WILL UNLOCK UPON ARRIVAL AT SCINTILLA]. RESOURCES DEEMED NECESSARY TOWARDS MISSION COMPLETION WILL BE PROVIDED. COMMUNICATION WITH THOSE NOT BEARING [DATA ENCRYPTED, PLEASE INPUT SECURITY CODE] ABOUT ASSOCIATION WITH THE INQUISITION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: AN OPEN MIND IS LIKE A FORTRESS WITH ITS DOOR UNBARRED AND ITS GATES SPREAD WIDE

So, is there any interest here? I know the last couple of games have imploded, but the goals should be clear and the story easy enough to get into such that unless you all decide to wander off and do something completely insane, things should roll relatively smoothly. Combat, interaction, and investigation will be involved, so a spread of character classes will be useful. I don't know how much interest remains after the last two implosions, but party size will be capped at six members absolute maximum.

Here's hoping to some fun to be had.

If a GM is up to it, I am.

With xmas holidays now here, I'm up for it. Any chance of playing as a Reclaimator?

So does that mean you dropped from the Fantasy game Cpl?

No, I'm still interested. I had PC issues for a bit but it's sorted out now.

Cool, if Cat is still in, we're waiting on you to post. Sorry to hear about the computer, glad you got it fixed.

I have no problem with that. A wide variety of skills will be needed.

That hive was subjected to orbital bombardment for heresy two years ago. Please report to the nearest Inquisition station and state your name and place of birth and a representative will get right to you.

I'm leaning towards a mindscrubbed psyker or darkholder assassin.

So I assume Kendall's DH game is now bunked?

With January on the way, I'll have much less things to worry about than I had in September (plus I'm not playing D2 anymore, hurray) so count me in if you need a sixth member.

Always good.

Darkholder I don't know about. Where is it found? I'm afraid I only have access to the core book and the Inquisitor's Handbook at the moment, but anything from those two is a-okay.

Yes. Although at the moment you would be the third member, as so far I'm pretty sure Hotfoot was just being facetious about an idiot in another game who managed to quite effectively derail the whole thing. I do know that LadyTevar might play if there is enough interest.

Radical's Handbook. Darkhold is a void born term for a ship of ill omen. Darkborn-void born= Dusk-Imperial Worlder. They're really nasty places with unpleasant reputations.

Okay, gotcha. If you do choose to play that rote, I would ask that you explicitly spell out the changes.

For those of you ready to get rolling, you may begin character generation. Either roll your characteristics in the thread with the diceroller, or ask me via PM and I will do them by hand for you.

RT introduces the option of a 100 point stat.

I presume you mean a 100 point stat buy? Is it linear or do higher stats cost more? I presume that there is a limit on the number of times you can put a 20 into a stat and the number of times you can put a 2 into a stat. What are the limits on this set-up?

Are we rolling just our stats or everything?

You have 100 points to spend on your stats. No more than 20 into a stat. GM has to not puke when he sees what you've done. The system is entirely at GM option, of course.

Things you must either publicly roll for or ask me to do are are characteristics, starting wounds, fate points, starting Gelt, Imperial divination, for psykers their sanctioning effect, and depending on the situation, things like insanity and corruption rolls. Everything else is up to you to decide or leave in the hands of the Emperor if you want a more randomized character.

If you would prefer not to roll for characteristics then I will provisionally allow a point buy at 100 points a character, with a max investment of 20 points and a minimum investment of 2 points and I reserve the right to make you do it again or just roll if you hand in a munchkin build. Also, do remember that you get a re-roll for a stat of your choice with the rolling method. Admittedly, the primary strength of the point buy is that you get to make sure that the characteristics you need actually get decent scores. If you get a crappy set of rolls I can also grant GM fiat to roll again.

I'm also partial to the Blighted Schola (you know those Cognitae bastards from Ravenor? Yeah, this is the background for one of them).

Darkholder works like this
as Voidborn but:

Charmed trait is removed

Speak Language (Ship Cant)
treat Forbidden Lore (Warp) as a basic Skill

Ghillam Blood
this is the "good" stuff
+5 Toughness and Willpower
Jaded
Paranoia

and the cost for such good shit?

Cold-Souled and Hungry
-5 Intelligence and Fellowship
1d5+1 Corruption Points
-5 to all peaceful Interaction tests

Hmmmm... yes, that is permissible if you wish to use it. As a general point of note though, I will mostly be using things from core and Inquisitor's handbook. And for psykers if you are interested, if you please your inquisitor and show sufficient strength of will he can get you in contact with the Psykana Temple Calix.

All right, lets see how it works out for me:

I'm going to go with just a simple Guardsmen, from a Feral World (I like to break things ;) )

WS
BS
S
T
Ag
Int
Per
WP
Fel
Wounds
Fate Points
Insanity
Corruption
Thrones

Just as an FYI, the Radical's Handbook is a really good tool for both players and GMs. Its the Inquisitor's Handbook meets Disciples of the Dark Gods.

Looks good. I'm presuming that you wish to reroll your WS? I will also need a d100 roll for your Divination to see what bonuses/penalties you get there. And it looks like I will have to check out the Radical's handbook.
