"In the begining there was nothing
a void of Darkness
a cold eternity of silence
When the perfect void was corrupted
--by Light
a great wailing was heard
and all the brethern fled in terror."

They stood before the Abyss, the Lord of Darkness, cloven feet supporting the deamonic form, horns curved upward, and next to him, his dark bride, the human Princess Lily, she who was pure of heart and innocent. He had seduced her, brought her to his side; and now, she would seal thier marriage when she slew the last unicorn.

Darkness raised his arms, his voice ringing out through the abyss.

"Hear Me,
ye powers of the night.
We offer this sacrifice in honor of you!
Sanctified with blood...
and with fire!"

The unicorn fought the chains which held it, neighing and whinning in protest. The dark bride looked upon unicorn, as Darkness held the alicorn in his hand,

"I pray you, Father,
accept my sacrifice
Let light be forever extinguished
Let the age of darkness begin!
Come lady
The birth of a new world
awaits your stroke"

"Let my offering be made of flesh and blood
I am sister to the Fates"

the dark bride raised her sword, and brought it down upon the chains, as the arrow peirced his neck.

"Run! Run your free"

Rage flooded the Darkness, and the battle was joined, Jack, Child of the Forest, assaulted the Lord of Darkness. The human was no match for the Lord of Darkness, and was brought low before his might..

"Always a pleasure to take a brave man's life...
Don't you know me boy?"

Jack held the alicorn's horn up, as a beam of reflected sunlight shown into the chamber, bringing the Lord of Darkness edge to the abyss.

"You think you have won
What is light, without dark?
What are you without me.
I am apart of you all
You can never defeat me
We are brothers
Eternal!"

"Do it Jack!
Kill him!"

Jack took the sword meant to slay the unicorn, and brough it's blade down upon the hand which held the alicorn. With a mighty roar, Darkness flew into the Abyss, never to be heard from again.....

-----------

"I...am the Lord of Darkness...
I require only the solace of the shadows
The dark of the night
Sunshine, is my destroyer...
Tonight...all this shall change"

A single cloven hoof struck the ancient stone, as the Lord of Darkness once more returned to the world of man.

"Rise up, brethern of darkness!
Hear my call, obey my command
Tonight, the Unicorn dies"

Behind him, a wave of dark beings arose, cresting behind thier master, and awaiting thier orders.

"That which angers me walks the forest again...
go forth my Goblins, my Ogres
Seek it out, and bring me it's horn!"

From behind Darkness, fangs gleamed as the first vampire stepped forth, it's hand raised upon high, dipped forward, and the wave parted about thier lord and into the night....

It was all thought to be a legend, how the Lord of Darkness was defeated by a small boy and his fearie friends. How he saved the last unicorn and banished Darkness into oblivion.

Generations passed, and Jack and Lily's story passed onto legend, then myth, while Honeythorn Gump and his fearie folk took the last Unicorn to safety.

Now Darkness has returned, his anger stirred to new heights as he was defeated by a slip of a boy, who he was so close to destroying. How victory was pulled from him by a wretched girl, one who betrayed him by allowing the unicorn to escape.

He sends his minions forth now, to hunt the last unicorn, to find the alicorn, the severed horn of the last unicorn's mate, and bring it to him.

Only then, will his dreams be realized, that the Age of Man obliterated, and the Age of Darkness brought about.

Syvanus

Race: Vampire
Profession: Hunter, Sorcerer, Swordsman, Self proclaimed Aristocrat, Scholar. But more sorcerer than anything else.
Equipment: Dark cloak, heavy full bodyleathers, leather lined iron mask (daylight gear), full plate harness on a stand, superb sword, well preserved library.
History: Vampire by the work of his own hand, the product of his own sorcerous experiments in longevity, Syvanus resides in a dark tower deep in the woods. Over the years it has fallen into slight disrepair, but the interior is still comfortable. Syvanus preys upon the beasts of the wood and the occassional human, although he rarely kills. Every decade or so he embarks upon a long journey to see part of the world. If he suffers from anything (besides an aversion to direct sunlight and contact with silver etc.), it is lonelyness.

Aubray
Race: Human
Profession: Formerly a duelist, now a wanderer.
Equipment: Pair of superb light dueling swords, standard wilderness survival gear, horse.
History: Once a master duelist, Aubray departed on the eve of a grand master's challenge (of some sort or another) that he was heavily favored to win. In the intervening decade he has been seen occasionally, wandering from town to town. He has never told anyone of the reason for his departure, and in general has been somewhat terse and emphatically solitary figure.

Light.

And I've changed my mind. He's actually not a somber bastard. He's even rather cheerful. He just refuses to answer any questions about his career.

Oh damn, I forgot about this thread with all the other things going on..... -mutters-

Petro, Cynical, frigid, if your still interested, give me a post, I'll see what we can do to get the ball rolling on this story.

Also, since you asked for it frigid, a small (and I mean small/short) discertation on the gameworld:

It is generic fantasy world as seen in the movie Legend, high fantasy even, mostly earthlike. Magickal development is mid-level, (think Dragonlance's Ansalon), with humans just fully grasping the potential of magick and how it works. Technology is firmly in the 14th century wise, crossbows and arrows, throwing daggers, swords, various forms of armor including platemail, chainmail, scaled mail, ring mail, leather armor, quilted armors, studded armors, etc. Alchemy is also present, and various potions and mixes are becoming known, a crude form of gunpowder (known as fire powder) exsist, as well as a early form of Greek Fire.

Culturally, they can be considered similar to a mix of Dragonlance and 14th Century Europe; Kings and Emperors rule over vast kingdoms, commonfolk in most live comfortable lives as peasentry, though there are some places where the peasents are downright miserable.

If you want better explinations, let me know, I'm typing this up with a headache atm, so it may very well be disjointed and not making much sense.

Before I join I'd like to know some things.

If I go Lycanthrope I assume I have the vulnerability to silver, plus the hairy hands and overly long middle (or was it ring) fingers.

What are the conditions for the change? Only full moon? How much control would my guy have while he's changed. Is he still able to control his actions or does he become a raving animal ready to kill anything close? Also would like to know how powerful he is while changed.

WTF? 50 gold for a set of goblin ears? That's fucked up even by D&D standards.

#21

Posted: Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:19 pm
by Dark Silver
Well...yes..it is rather high a price for goblin ears....but also consider the gameworld, circumstances of it, and the fact that the village has no fucking clue on how to deal with Goblins and are desperate to get rid of any of them around.

Trust me, you'll earn that 50 gp a pair soon enough..for I never make anything easy....

As for your Lycanthrope char Charon, we can discuss it, you would have the Silver allergy, though you do not have to have the overly large finger or hairy hands....

It's ridiculous, unless there is some factor making gold nearly worthless.

Name: Jonathon
Race: Lycanthrope
Class: Hunter, Wanderer
Equipment: Walking staff, full brown cloak, wide brimmed hat, travelling pack with bedroll, flint, hand axe, broadsword, bow and arrows, self-made maps of the area.
History: Jonathon was a man growing up to be a fine warrior. He defended his town with honor and glory. Until of course he got bitten. At first they thought everything was fine, then Jonathon changed and killed his family, tore apart his home, and slaughtered most of the village guard as he fled into the forest. Jonathon has since then been living the life of a hermit, trying to gain control of the demon inside him. He will destroy the demons outside as well if that's what it will take.
Alignment: Light, except when he changes on the 4 quarters of the moon. Then anyone within range is his target.

Let's see....average pixie in Legend was....

small, much like Tinkerbell seemed to be in Peter Pan, mostly a flashing light, but has the ability to change size to a largish child (approx 4ft in height) frosted skin and hair and gossamer wings. They have limited forms of mature magick in game terms.
