There is no word harsh enough for this. No verbal edge sharp and cold enough to set forth the flaying needed. English is to young and the elder languages of the earth beyond me. ~Frigid

Presuming they aren't occluded by magic designed to foil detect magic and similar spells.

Oh good... we don't have to bury her, just hand her over.

With the bow. Don't keep it, unless the halflings let us.

Considering you're currently wedged in a small dirt hole with your head about to be turned into a metal pin cushion if you don't exercise a modocium of diplomacy, I would think that yes, you aren't going to kill the fleshbags.

Diplomacy? Oh dear... Uhhh. I mean. Yes, diplomacy. Eight's FANTASTIC at diplomacy. Too bad his axe is unreachable at the moment...

Since I should've done this much earlier...

Oh, wow. Detect Magic instantly is activated, checking for magical resonance in the bag, the bracers, the swords, and whatever else.

First round: there is magic in the area.

Second round: there are two and a half magical auras. The half is really more an impression that once, long ago, there was magic in the area, but only an echo of it remains. The strongest aura is faint.

Third round: faint aura around the bracers and the bag.

First of all, I transferred Fehl to the Public profiler, fixing a few problems with his sheet while I was at it. It's available here, and has been tentatively approved by Academia Nut (pending spells; there was an issue or two there)

Also, another search & spot for the next room.

As I mentioned to rhoenix on AIM, when reading the description of the idol, think about the descriptions of the statuettes in the original "Call of Cthulhu" and you won't go wrong in getting the feel of it down.

Well, considering that his body is laying out in the middle of the street from where the others brought it after they cut it down and you can clearly see that he was hung and his body was otherwise intact: your best guess is an allip.

For the idol, Knowledge: Arcana and/or Religion are needed to work out anything about it. Spellcraft might glean something as well.

Okay, Bartel doesn't know anything about Noxeus aside from maybe once hearing the name in passing during a seminary class on the history of various religions in Eastwind.

Also, double check the book there Ophidian, the villagers hadn't breached the chamber with their well yet before they started seeing a strange figure. The ordering of events is roughly start digging well, see strange figure in mists, halfling caravan destroyed, priest driven insane, village destroyed, with the chamber being discovered sometime between seeing the figure and the village being destroyed.
