Holy crap.

CT: You notice that this place has been left intentionally looking run-down, but is very well kept. Tiny signs of painstaking craftsmanship to keep it looking decayed and decrepit from a distance are all there.

Cyncat, AN: You both notice that the construction is...much less run down than it should be for a ruin. In fact, if you didn't know better, you'd say it had been fixed up to look kinda like a dump.

Jason: You notice that it's definitely not as run-down as you thought, given the worn path leading up to it.

Haizu, Rogue9: You spot a fixer-upper castle nearby.

Actually Academia notices the same thing as Tortoise. Both rolled natural 20s.

No, nat 20s aren't automatic successes on skill checks, just saving throws and attack rolls. Same deal for natural 1s.

Well, allowing natural 20s to automatically succeed on any given check does get a little ridiculous; anyone could smash through a castle's curtain wall in a couple of minutes if that were true for Strength checks against object break DCs, for instance.

In that case the DM looks at the character and says "you break every bone in your hands." If its impossibly easy or hard, we cut out the middle man and don't roll.
