Oh, but Dartzap needs not to worry: the Star Destroyers are still there to assist the Trolls.
The best part will be ISD vs ion cannon. He needs to hurry up and post!
Well Sorrrrry! Not my fault I would quite like a half decent qualification out of this course!!!!!!!

Dartzap, I have no bloody clue what your fleet is doing. Are they running away or is it a tactical jump? What is that fleet that was left in the dark?

Remember, mine is just sitting there, nothing moving at all, nothing firing. The only activity on my side is the repeated calls for you to withdraw.

Jumping towards you, Because.. you know, having missiles fired at you and then hearing a request you sod off is not a huge incentive to run away (how the hells are they meant to know it wasn't you taking pot shots?)

The fleet that went sent to find Flotsam was litrelly right behind the engine block of the Celestial, which causes a huge amount of interference, so they were essentially in the ships blind spot. The search fleet consist of a Carrier and a destroyer and three frigates.

Well, we are entirely within our right to open fire at armed invaders who refuse to talk even if it was us.

Anyway, your move next. The way I think a battle should be posted is you post what actions or movements you take, then wait for me to post my actions, etc, and I will also post what your actions did to me. Then your next post you decide the results of my actions on you and move on to the next.

This way, we won't be controlling the other guy's stuff.

Is PW III dead? KAN and DF haven't posted in a very long time. I know the mistake I made last time of assuming the game was dead, so I won't count it out just yet.

I'm waiting on everyone else to move on. Time has slowed to a crawl for battle around the base, and my one ship is just cruising along.

Unless I should write up them wanting to see what all this fuss about sex is all about, there is nothing for me to do at this point.

Same here, I was waiting for KAN to show up on his blasted Death Star. Oh, and Ra is in suspended animation waiting for Kerrigan to contact him for like... over a month, OOC. Maybe I should have a random Romulan Warbird decloak and blow him up, just for kicks.

EDIT: I actually would rather some random adventure turn up, something to give the characters something to do. We have the ongoing battle at the starbase, and if KAN ever posts we'll have the lightsaber battle on the DS, but otherwise this game is deader than King Tut.

Well, now that I think of it, I did stick in those mirror universe guys who just slipped through the base into the Milky Way who could do something to mix things up, so I am not entirely in a corner. But I dunno what to do with them or where I would be going with it right now.

Still planning for two weeks?

I mean, we're not writing a fanfic here. all I need you to do is announce that you're on the DS! Then I confront you. Posts in this should not be long and grandiose, they should be short, detailing what move your dude makes. That's it.

You guys need to post!

I am watching Olbermann right now, and he is giving the most excellent speech about Mr Bush, a speech that with only a little modification could be used in this plot, if only we could get on with it!

Post, even little one liners are just what we need.

Is Don Lando going to make anyone an offer he can't refuse? On the day of his daughter's wedding perhaps?

Someone needs to do something with that Trollish attack force at my base. Sometime soon would be nice.

Even if you post a one liner saying you are sitting there doing nothing. By yielding your 'turn' if you will, I can proceed to add something to it or advance time.

Brief term database:

HSO: High Standard Orbit (See also: Standard Orbit; LSO)

LSO: Low Standard Orbit

FTL: Faster Than Light

NPO: Near Planet Object (meteors or asteroids in close planetary orbit)

SLS: Super Luminal Scanners. (Also: FTL Sensors) Can pick up presence of large masses (such as planets or moons) at medium range, ships travelling at warp at long range, and idle warp systems at short range. Seems instant; the lag is negligible at all effective ranges. Blocked by bubble shields.

SLC: Super luminal communications (Also: FTL comm; subspace radio) (Contrast: Radio). Send or receive messages if relative direction is known (i.e., to broadcast, it must be sent multiple times in different directions) at varing ranges from medium to extreme (depends on receiver size and transmitter power). Lag is generally not relevant except at extreme range. Blocked by bubble shields.

DA: when referring to radio: Directional Antenna

Type A: Manned space fighter / sensor platform / communication relay (depends on mission). Small, basically triangular shape, one man, short range.

Bubble shield: when a static subspace bubble is created by the warp engines around the ship to cancel out SLS and SLC. It works both ways: they can't see you, you can't see them. Also can be used to force another object out of warp. If activated, most warp engines cannot go to warp or jump at the same time.

Jump: when warp engines are used to perform a nearly instantaneous, precise translocation.

GMIC: Ground Model Ion Cannon. Massive ground based weapons for planetary defense against capital ships.

WPT: Warp Powered Torpedo. Warhead with FTL sustainer used for long range or combat between two ships traveling at warp.

ATTN DARTZAP: do something with those troll dudes! Again, a post need not be more than a few quick lines.

At this point, it seems more like I am writing a little self contained fic. I must admit, I kinda like it (the hunted and hunter IN SPACE is pretty awesome IMO, and I have a few things in mind, but no sure direction really), but still, we need more cross-player character interaction. This is supposed to be a multiplayer game, not a fic.

So yeah, do something, y'all. If something isn't done with that attack force, I might have to take over for both sides, and you probably won't like how that will end.

Grandiose posts are not needed, especially during character interactions! Shorter is better so all players can get right involved.

hay guys since no one is posting I have been wasting time doing random stuff you can ignore this if you want but

ATTN someone controlling the imperial trollish force: if you don't do something, I am going to start doing it myself tomorrow. there is so much more we can do if we just move on!

So I have been working on what A'millian Prime might be like. I hand drew the land / water lines (visible in the working draft link) then I just played with gimp to try and make it look like a satellite image.

Image

Or my working draft (black and white that I work on, but too big to be inlined).

This is an island off one of the continents on the planet. The rest has never been majorly inhabited by anyone. I have said before how the A'millians don't breed often; their population even at their peek was around the population of Scotland (the total of all three of the planet's species combined there; A'millian only peaked at less than two million), thus, I felt the land area should be small too. The scale here is about one mile per pixel. That makes the big island here about twice the length of England and about the same height.

I still need to add rivers and mountains, etc. I also want to add some more islands and maybe more lakes, and of course, cities.

The A'millian Capital is going to be along the west coast somewhere. I am thinking about the southern pennsiula or maybe the western most. I dunno yet. Also the top thing would be somewhat cool.

This would be just one small island somewhere around one of the tropics (a ways north or south of the equator but probably not as far north as real life England or France probably).

But yeah, the map is pretty cool I thought. It adds some more detail to my world, and the smaller area makes more sense for the small population than for the whole world. The best part though: little dudes from a small island go on to rule an intergalactic empire.

But yeah, when the original universe one gets going, y'all are going to be in for a treat. Until then, damn post something!

EDIT:

There is so much potential left, and I have been listening to one song most the day that has inspired me to change my strategy should the Imperials decide to invade:
La Marseillaise wrote: Aux armes, citoyens!
Formez vos bataillons!
Marchons, marchons!
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons!
If you have never taken a read of the French National Anthem, do so, now. Then listen to it being sang, in French, of course. That song kicks ass. After having it in my head for the last couple days, you can tell how my plans have changed.

And should you go forward with the torture thing you had in mind, it would also make for good stuff.

Ah man, the French are too awesome.

Pondering space weapons technology, as seen in my universe the way I imagine it (which is NOT the same way it has been seen in the PW):

Common:
Lasers - long range against weaker opponents, but not efficient against a shielded opponent, so often seen as point defense.

Particle Beams - medium range against all opponents. Causes explosions and penetration of armour, moderately efficient in wearing down shields.

Missiles - Short range, but very effective in blowing up armour and shield overloading since they can have high yields, but are damn slow and easy to shoot down.

Guns - good for many things. They can put up a barrier of death for point defense or even long range assault (if you have the time). At short range, very effective against shields.

Special:
Phasers - Work well against organic targets and also drain shields are rather high efficiency, but are very short range and slow (slower than ship guns).

FTL weaponry - special missiles for long range or jamming of FTL sensors and communications.

I'm just randomly thinking about stuff here and scribbling it down.

As promised, I went and did it myself. The battle was a victory, although a somewhat costly one. Genator is going to kick and scream as you drag her away, but she is yours.

Now, you all need to bloody post a bit! At least let me know you are still alive and watching the threads.

Something I am trying to do here is something I am amazed we don't see more often in sci-fi. Where they have artifical gravity that can be turned on and off (something absurd from a physics sense, but whatever) and atmospheres that can be pumped out, why don't we see hell like this more often? These poor guys are being punished. And machine guns, damn they mow through infantry.

If stormies have hand grenades, they could probably use them though to mess things up. I've never seen them use a grenade in the films, but surely they have them or something similar.

Something cool I read somewhere was the suit Darth Vader wares was originally designed to be his no atmosphere suit, and lightsabres were originally intended to be used by the stormies as they attacked a ship, since guns risk piercing the hull (something btw, I want to happen here with the Genator. No air for the attackers!). There was some concept art with Vader and some troopers wearing their armor with lightsabers on the Rebel blockade runner way before the script was written. It is pretty awesome. Lucas saw the design and liked it enough that he decided to keep Vader wearing the suit at all times, and lightsabers became a Jedi weapon, as of course we all have seen.

Sometimes I wonder how different Star Wars would have been if he ran with some of his earlier ideas. They were pretty cool at times.

I can't find the big picture I saw once (it might actually be in one of my books; I'll have to look later), but Star Wars.com has a paragraph about it:
http://www.starwars.com/databank/techno ... er/?id=bts

Go to the behinds the scenes tab. The first paragraph there and the picture is what I am talking about.

EDIT: and another picture on wookipedia
