Gents, this fight has gone poorly for us.

I think we did alright considering the whole reason this fight happened was so they could capture a few of us. Plus now with any luck we can actually get some information. As for Saibot and Avatar... well, we can avenge their deaths.

Sorry... had to say it.
Yes.. yes we did. I get the feeling it was contrived and that we really had no chance of getting out without members being captured though. WHich bothers me.

Also, if you set fire to a city park. Yes, you will kill people.

The temperatures needed to spntaneously combust trees are hotter than 500 degrees and probably closer to a thousand. The fire will spread to parts of the city proper as well.

It was a trap, Tortoise. Traps tend to go off very well when created intelligently, except when, say, a gravity manipulator is there unexpectedly.

Me? Probably. I'm sure Ultima has my number. But mostly I need to perform a real interrogation. With cuts on the fingertips, soap, salt water, and alcohol.

I know, but without a game mechanic to work with other than GM fiat, I am not sure if there was anything that COULD have been done to avoid being captured and thus it feels kinda train-like.

......Because you don't have the numbers in front of you, you conclude that you couldn't do anything more intelligently? The fact that one of the 'good guys'(When speaking of Gravitas, always use the quote marks!) yoinked a bad guy would suggest it was anything but rigged.

The guy who auto posts that his powers 1) hit the villian, 2) work on the villian like they would an ordinary human being 3) drop the villian twice in a row has no business complaining about GM fiat in any way shape or form.

....Ben...dude....

RPG's are 95% GM's fiat, or by my experience anyway. Especially with some of the GM's I've had tabletop, who like to fudge rolls one way or another on occassion.

If you stick hard and fast to any rules, the game quickly gets stale...and sometimes, you have to have a almost scripted scenario, or at least where a outcome comes in at a almost certainty.

Like in this instance, it was scripted that a couple of the PC's would get captured, though the ones who got caught, were left up to the circumstances. That and that Gravitas managed to make off with a baddie, and that you managed to kill one of them, shows it isn't hard set. It's loose and fast.

Besides, I've known B4, and I've been on the receiving end of his ire before.....he once blew up Cybertron just to kill one of my characters.....

Infact, he blew up Cybertron 4 times just to kill my character....in four seperate Transformer RPG's....

Trust me, your getting off EASY.

This is entirely the subject of another thread, but I don't think that keeping to the rules of a given system makes things stale per se, but of course one must have some sort of touch with reality to make sure things don't get too far out of hand in one way or another.

Freeform RP is always a matter of trust. It's more about making an interesting story than playing any sort of competative game.

I think I'll make a thread as to how various people run their games. Should be interesting.

5 times actually but I think the last time was during one of your hiastuses where I was in charge again.

Of course that's one of the primary reasons that people fear cynical as a GM more then me. With Cynical death is an abstract possibility that the PCs are constantly reminded of by close brushes with death. With me it's more of a dire certainty.

But yes, this particular scene was designed for a purpose and that purpose is nearly complete. Yes the events were pretty much going to happen regardless though it was fast and loose with the whos and the exact hows. You just happened to make yourself a target when you killed Empath.

And hell, Nitram can attest to the fact that I didn't have everything planned out to the letter. Hell I had totally forgot his character was even at the park when I began it! I start the scene with a general idea of what I want to happen and the general end result that I hope to cause and everything else is playing off the players.

He grabbed it and dropped it... didnt he? *checks*

Edit: Nope, he got it. Editted my post, with apologies.

Guess I don't get to hang the weapon on the wall across the room from Saibot's chained form and taunt him with it. Damn...

See Edit above

But I was *really* wanting to taunt Saibot with it... see if he could grab it or his ring chained up like that. What can I say... i'm evil, and bondage turns me on.

Well I tell you what. If you have enough energy left to stab her after Abaddon gets through introducing you to levels of agony that are normally reserved for hell then you can stab her.

Isn't that assuming that a badly burned person such as himself can just shurg off Blast's attack?

One of the things I love about Aberrant is that it actually has stats for using trees and lamp posts as weapons.

By the way B4, how does my power slam turn out?
