That's hilarious. Understandable, and yet hilarious.

The goblins' initiatives have been determined. Kergan goes first. I'm working on whipping up a quick and dirty grid map of the room so you can have a visual representation.

Is there any way I can take a penalty or something to let someone else go first?

I think B4 wanted Elias to try to Bluff them, and that would probably be made a bit more difficult by the goblins watching Kergan split one of their friends in half like a cord of wood.

You can delay if you want (if you do, you can simply jump in at any later point you wish), but does your character know that Etvar (Elias is the cleric, and unless I miss my guess he'd never bluff anything ) was going to do that? If not, would he actually wait for someone else to make the first move when faced with a room full of goblins?

Here is the encounter map:

Image

The S is the secret door; Etvar is standing in it, and the rest of you are behind him. There's a goblin standing ready, apparently on guard, at the corner three squares from the secret door; the others are all sitting about the room and scrambling to get up and get their weapons.

That's a good point - Etvar (sorry, B4) hadn't actually mentioned wanting to Bluff.

Okay, so yeah - the one armed Goblin's first.

Feel free to roll hit and damage at the same time; saves time, and if you miss the damage roll won't matter anyway.

I just want Kergan to be second level already, so he can start doing the truly insidious stuff with magic.

Well otherwise it's no fun for me; you'd mow through them and we wouldn't even get to the end of the second round.

Which reminds me, I wanted to talk to you about creating new spells for the Duskblade.

Seriously, I do want to ask you about new spells, and the requirements to have Kergan create and use them, but I'll finish doing some research and such on the good touch spells and combat-supportive spells from the Arcane magic type before I PM you a list.

More on topic, I know you're doing this to keep it a bit more dramatic than us shooting skeet, but...Rogue, it's a goblin. A picture of a goblin is next to the word "expendable" in the dictionary.

Actually, if you're using a dictionary pre-4th ed, that's not a goblin, that's a Kobold. 6HP, dead.

Goblin's down. Etvar and Kergan are occupying the entrance. You can move through allies' squares, but can't charge through them, not that any of the remaining goblins are in a line to charge from the door anyway. Jason, you're next.

With your move speed? No; you'd have to double move, and you don't have line of charge. You could go into the room, though.

FYI, I'll be gone next tuesday(3June) and probably Wednesday(4June). I've got surgery on the 3rd so will be incapacitated for the day and probably won't be up or about on the 4th much. I should be back up and running late Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.
