Oh hey, i found an awesome picture for Riov Ishtar Charvanek! She looks a bit younger than the one in the profile right now, has an awesome stylish uniform, and looks all serious and confident like a Romulan Commander should be. The original picture is here, i changed the hair and eye colour to fit Ishtar's. The tattoo is also neat, and the idea in Star Trek that Romulans paint their grief on their skins is a really cool cultural thing. Like those of Nero and his crew, Ishtar's is permanent, a presumably not-uncommon sight amongst surviving Romulans post Borg Invasion. Very happy with how the edit came out! ^_^

Oh, huh, apparently i described Ishtar as having grey eyes, not blue eyes. It would be a trivial fix in the picture, but she does look better with intense blue eyes, so leaving it that way.

Isn't there already one company, with a second on the way, of Federation marines from the Immortal already assaulting the bridge barricade on the Locarian Star?

I think that the post that Lys is referencing did indeed occur hours ago in game time, prior to the previous owner of the the fleet tender formerly known as Avenger had given up. This seems to be a second attempt to assume control over the ship. I will be posting later today about my overarching strategy to deal with this situation. Cretak has a special place in his heart for Orions, especially those that are actively trying to hinder his restoration efforts of a priceless Romulan artifact.

That situation was left in abeyance at the end of the last game and never resumed, so I've decided to go in a different direction. Interpret this as however you wish, a retcon, or simply a fresh effort by the slavers.

Touched up the bio section if anybody's interested. Nothing outstandingly new, except for a tidbit on Gleck's acting career at Cambridge.

Fly through the Exterminator again, only this time they're going to eject the aft torpedo magazine as they go, so the ejected torpedoes will fly through the Exterminator, theoretically coming into contact with the Borg warp drive, theoretically bringing them out of phase and theoretically detonating them inside the factual Borg vessel, theoretically killing the living shit out of them. This will be timed so that they're out of the Exterminator before it goes kablooey. THEORETICALLY.

Whether this stunt actually works or not? Entirely up to you.

I was picturing a tactic along those lines, although when I pictured it it was a cube and a tricobalt.

It's funny given that Havoc knows my even-more-insane plan that I'm holding in reserve for the appropriate time.

Assuming, of course, we survive this engagement. But hope springs eternal!

(Also, if this works I have an even crazier followup using this trick.)

Well, until we run out of shit to throw out the back door.

SO, we should have warning if/when the frigates change course and head towards us. As long as we sit and stay quiet, we will be good.

To be specific, you're a carrier torpedo-boat. The CGI model (wireframe) shows 18 torpedo tubes: seven forward facing and six rear facing on the weapons pod, two each port and starboard on the dorsal saucer, and one forward facing on the ventral saucer below the deflector array. According to the guy who designed it, the two middle launchers on the weapons pod are meant to be quantum torpedo launchers.

Only issue is, torpedoes are best against large targets, and indeed the Akira's among the ships explicitly designed to help deal with Borg Cubes. An Exterminator can dodge torpedo volleys, to an extent. On the other hand, since torpedoes have some manoeuvrability, at long range you should be able to use your side launchers for targets ahead of you. Judging by the Akira's size and number of tubes they're probably double-firing. So that's ten photon torpedo tubes and two quantum, meaning 24 torpedoes, four of them quantum. If you can't use the side launchers it drops to 16 torpedoes, four of them quantum. Either way, if you're ever faced with the prospect of trading shots with Exterminators you might get a few hits from sheer volume of fire.

Ultimately though, yes you're a long range fire-support ship, swatting down Exterminators is not your job. It's my job actually, Khanjar's got the missiles she has because, as Marcao pointed out, the task force has plenty of "kill big things" weapons but is somewhat lacking in "kill swarms of small things". Still, given that Havoc's may have us face opponents other than the ones we're built to handle, it's probably good to have a back-up plan! ^_^

An Akira? Yes. Yes I do. Even the carrier version of an Akira has a very heavy weapons load. You might be a light cruiser, but you have a vast torpedoe arsenal and enough phasers to give my beam boat a good contest. I could take one, but probably not two at once. You can take both if they stay and fight.
