I'm more than a little curious where all this money came from. I mean, we're talking about potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars of military equipment, to say nothing of the millions of dollars of real estate you've supposedly cleared out.

I mean, if you've cleared this, okay, but I don't see any real mention of all this stuff in your character's abilities.

Millions? Hardly. Should've mentioned it earlier but this is one of the more slummish areas of town, on the edges. Older housing, most of it rather ratty apartments and the like. Easy enough to purchase or pull a fast one. Which was done for the most part; you'd be surprised how supersitious some of those residents were. And I think anybody would be freaked by finding dead ravens laid out in an arcane circle at their doorstep, and the same circles repeated all the way up and down the street in spray paint... or a skinned goat hanging in the hallway (purchased from a butcher's along with a few buckets of blood and offal, not that they need to know that)...

The only structure I actually own outright is a fairly large apartment, the one with the garage; the rest of them only have homeless persons who aren't gonna do shit, and this crochety old lady in building 22B. I... umm... er... bring her cookies and get her groceries every Thursday, and we have tea on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 sharp... she's a very persuasive old lady, and I just didn't have the heart to turf her out...

As to where I got the money? Remember my origins... I pretty much ruined them when I left. Wasn't just with dynamite and C4, either. Those people were advanced enough to do some small-scale gene-engineering and kidnap a lot of genetically ideal people for their eugenics program; they had plenty, trust me on that.

Not enough, though. This is the only safehouse I have equipped this extensively and with this much protection. All the rest are much less secure.

Profile of character Excellent free-climber. Is familar to a unusual degree with woodcraft and tracking. Doesn't stay anywhere long; apparently lives out of a van that has had some rather... interesting modifications. Generally breaks up petty crime, but has gone after the occasional gang.

Here's the first bit, a strike against a huge fortified position.

Apparently has some serious bad blood with his 'family', the cult that rose him. They were striving to create a genuine human with superpowers that could be passed on and improved through birth; many unethical (to say the least) means were adopted to bring this about. He ran away from them when young, and lived in the woods for several years before being brought back. A lengthy brainwashing procedure was apparently temporarily successful, and he received extensive weapons and combat training.

This training was promptly turned onto his captors; after looting the armoury, he destroyed their compound after making sure the inhabitants were out of their homes in order to avoid unnecessary loss of life. He drove to the nearest sheriff's office, dropped a large manilla envelope with a lengthy description of the cult's activities on his desk, and vanished.

He is currently the target of a Federal investigation; fortunately for him, said investigation is bogged down by lack of willpower.

He has on occasion worked with others, and seems to get along fairly well with a few; however, he is very much a loner.

I see absolutely no mention of your somehow gaining access to their accounts. Just that you looted the armory and destroyed the compound after evacuating the area. No prisoners taken to get Swiss bank accounts from, no blackmail, nada. They may have had plenty of money, but I don't see you taking any of it.

Second, if you think that ANY residential area in a city is nearly deserted, you're just plain crazy. Just because an area is a slum doesn't mean that people don't live there. Dozens, if not hundreds of people could live in your very building, to say nothing of the rest of the block.

Now, you're telling me that you've gotten the roof pretty much exclusively to yourself, set up anti-air cannons. You've set up high tech land mines in the building and/or the alleyway, have a considerable strength EMP generator, plus numerous defense cannons. Given that these cannons are supposedly designed to take down metahumans, that means that they're likely to cause tremendous collateral damage if and when they miss or richochet, but that's another concern not directly related to my primary point.

I can accept a few crash holes, stashed with weapons, armor, and gear, that you've set up in advance, but a veritable fortress designed to repel attacks by multiple metahumans? There are four streets, crossing each other in a tic-tac-toe pattern; there are four AA guns, disguised as air conditioner boxes on the roof, each covering a corner of the central square. Eight remote guns, two to a corner, at ground level, hidden in mailboxes and false hydrants. The rest are inside the safehouse and the alleyway; eight at most.

B.) The mines aren't that high-tech, either; they're basic land mines, wired up to a central control. Once activated, they're hot for three hours and then deactivate permanently; a custom-made fuse that burns out in that time period. By that time, either I can turn them off or I'll be captured or dead. Either way.

Uh, no. I can give someone detailed information about a person or organization's activities without gaining access to their bank accounts. Additionally, I can hack into the FBI's database and gain access to field reports and still not have access to their funding information.

Translation: "Despite the fact that these character descriptions are supposed to be relatively complete descriptions of our characters and their abilities and limitations, so long as I don't say that I don't have access to something, I can have access to something."

Simpler translation: "I can make up things as I want/need them"

You've never seen what real estate costs are for even an empty lot in a city are, have you? Entire buildings are worth millions, even if they are slums.

1. .50 Cals are essentially cannons. Second, you never specified what specifically you had, just that they were turrets. This comes back to this base and your defenses coming, essentially, out of nowhere.

You've got them wired to a computer control that seems pretty damn advanced to me. Remember most mines are set and activate on a specific trigger. The fact that these are remote controlled from a computer DOES make them high tech.

Speaking of the EMP generator, I hope you're ready for a nice little death toll when that thing goes off. Three mile radius? That's going to take out most of the city. Anyone with a pacemaker? Dead. That's just the beginning, by the way.


That is the blast radius of your EMP device. All electronics in that zone will go dead. This includes traffic lights, hospitals, tunnel lights, controls for drawbridges, sparkplugs for cars, starters, computers, hard drives, banks, police stations, you name it.

If you're lucky, the death toll will only be in the dozens.

Let me preface this by saying that some of you should seriously consider careers in porn. I say this because based on the recent actions that some of you have assumed and presumed were acceptable you must have testicles the size of watermellons and swinging dicks that horses would be envious of.

And character sheets are final. There are no changes allowed save by myself or with my approval. There will be no changes of powers once the sheet has been approvedand finalized. There will be no additions to it, no sudden new abilities or resources from your background. NONE. So don't bother asking.

Lets go down the list shall we? Remote thermal sensors, remote activated autonomous turrents, anti-aircraft emplacements, advanced holographic projectors, minefields, remote guns, RFID IFF, and stolen military grade technology.

What narcotic are you currently abusing that would devoid you of your reasoning facilities to such an extent you would think this is permissible to begin with, not to mention without even questioning or consulting your GM?

And it just gets fucking better and better. Multiple buildings are set up with this shit, all of it is tied into a remotely accessible high-end computer system that can intelligently pick out targets based on size parameters while totally avoiding any sorts of birds, all driven by a hyper-intelligent command parser based on your command entries.

I, personally, am at a loss here. Floored is an adaquete discreption.

Your presumptions on numerous accounts here are unwarrented and unfounded and preposterous.

B) An EMP generator, not something that's fucking common, stolen with what appears to be relative ease considering the other fucking horde of weapons you managed to take. An EMP generator, a device capable of possibly crippling a city electronically, providing a serious advantage in a battle or war, was stolen from a military base.

Did the thought ever cross your mind that perhaps that would be guarded? And guarded well? Probably on the scale of only slightly below the security NORAD places on our nuclear weapons and the AF puts on our stealth aircraft? And as for all these other weapons, do you realize how difficult it would be for you to successfully steal this shit from the military? You're talking about a lone person breaking into a military base and getting back off with a buttload of military grade hardware. And your assumptions that you could do this are based on what? That you decided on your own accord to suddenly make your character sheet not an official character sheet but more like an FBI dossier? And you got any sort of permission to do that in this game when and from whom? That shit would be guarded, and in the case of the EMP if it was important enough I'm sure the military would spare a meta or two to assist in the guarding of it. I say this because logically a device that some idiot with superpowers and a penchant for bad b sci-fi films might concievably want to steal and might have the ability to do so might warrent a little bit of extra power to guard it.

If you say yes then you're in more help then I or anyone else on this board could possibly give you. You're comparing your average run of the mill beat-cop to a meta in sheer ability and training. Your average cop is not trained or able to deal with someone who can throw a semi at them, run at speeds greater then mach 1 or control their mind from a mile away. Would you expect them to? Would you? No, you wouldn't. You would turn to those who are trained and capable of such. The military has the Primus unit, the feds have the Ultima Bureau and most cities have a independent group and a few others.

Now, assuming the hacker was good enough to do this and not get caught, why the fuck would they work for you instead of doing it for themselves and not having to worry about you fucking them over?

4) Now you've got the financial backing to buy out city property in Millenium City, in what you claim as the slums. Hrm, lets take a look at our timeline shall we? We're in 2010. Millenium city isn't even 9 years old yet and it has slums already started and the prices of real estate have plumeted enough that anyone with less then a mil can buy an entire apartment building and set up shop. No, no wait, let me guess. He's got the money, trust you. Right? Wrong. I live in the panhandle of Florida and I can't even buy a small townhouse down here for less then $130k. My parents live in NC and their 4br 1800+sqft ranch house cost about $110k but they live in the boonies. We're in Millenium City, the newest and one of the largest cities in the country. There are fucking loft apartments in current day NY that don't go for less then my parents house! And you're buying this real estate up at fractions of a penny on the dollar. This is so obscenely stupid that it should be painful for you to have thought this. Seriously. I hope you have a fucking migraine.

If you stole something that big, every structure in a 200 mile radius is getting tossed. Every road, rail, water and air way is getting shut down on threat of force. They will tear apart outhouses and dig under then to find them.

Putting his hand on it and rotating it slightly, he frowned and took a closer look at the etched letters...

A straight column of fire shone in the sky, towering high.

The explosion took out most of the block, and shook up the bunker severely. It survived the destruction, however. As for the rest of all Anderson's gadgets and devices-- gone.

I'm as big a fan of anime as the next guy but I'm not going to abide by weapons capable of wiping out large portions of the city in a single blast.

By the way, a N2 mine is not a 50meter blast radius. To give you an idea of the damage this mine would have done had it actually gone off and I hadn't deleted the post..

Blast radius for assured death: 680 metres
Fireball radius: 170 metres

Congradulations you just took out about a mile and a half of city in every direction.
