So we've got a day-walking vamp who can't use his powers, a were-croc with some nature manipulation(like we don't know you're just accelerating the growth of your pot plants...), and Fisher's usual military badass type.

No, just a, yeah, kinda. I was orginally going to have him be a long lifer, with him being around since the revolutionary war without aging, but decided no to.

As for the second part...Scott knows what I mean. What kind of character sheet are we looking at, what's our limits on the characters powers, etc.

XMen have always been my favorite group of superheros, followed by Fantastic Four.

Daredevil and Batman are my amongst my favorite individual superheros.

Origin of Powers: A freak accident at a unknown chemical plant left Stephani with only her name. Nothing is known about her past or why she was at the plant.

List of Powers (Limited to 2, please): General mind reading/probing ablitites. The ability to change into a liquid from and regernerate back into human form. (And as a side note; basic ass kicking ability)

Description of powers: ESP can be used to predict upcoming attacks. She can also control her opponets for brief amounts of time (most commonly used to disorient giving her a chance to flee). Liquid power makes for a quick get away, or dodging an attack. Also used for changing position in a fight to gain the upper hand.

Profile of character: Mostly a loner. She hasn't really come to grips with her new found powers but seems rather content with not knowing about her past. She hasn't got the greatest control over her powers and seems to be in denile. Very quiet and intoverted, until provoked. Weather she plans on using her powers for good or evil is yet to be detrimined.

General body stats: 5' 10"normally, 190 pounds, Silver tinted eyes, almost silver hair, in his late 30's, caucasian human.

History: Mark has had a tough life, born in the bad part of Denver his parents split soon after he was born, Mark went to school but between not being a good student and the promises of adventure and leraning valuable skills, he went into the military after high school. He served for six years until a piece of shrapnel gave him an honorable discharge and a bad limp. Unable to get a job after returning to Denver Mark turned to the street life where he passed his days in either a drunken stupor or begging for scraps, this continued for five years.

One night Mark was awoken by the sound of explosions, instinctively he ducked for cover under some garbage. A few moments passed and Mark looked out from under the garbage and down the alley he'd slept in, on the ground was something that hadn't been there before, it reflected the light of the street lamp and looked like a silver oil spill. What Mark saw next terrified him, the silver puddle moved, shooting straight for him. Mark tried to get up and run but his bad leg refused to budge, tripping Mark up. He fell back into the garbage as the oddly warm fluid began to run up his legs, then over his waist. Mark began screaming until the silver covered him and suddenly he heard a voice in his head. The voice was calming, soothing. Mark listened as the voice told it's story, the silver thing had come from a nearby scientific institute where it had been under study, it had escaped and in return for the safety of being bonded to Mark so it could travel more easily it would make him stronger, faster, and all around better. Mark agreed and since then has been either running from the scientific institute or making ends meet however he can.

Origin of Powers: The silver symbiote which has bonded with Mark, leaving his hair silver and his eyes that silver color. The symbiote came from space, beyond that it doesn't give many details.

List of Powers: General boost to all physical abilities. Manipulation over the symbiote material.

Description of powers: General boost effects all physical abilities, can lift approximately 10 tons, Can run at 50 mph, can take a bullet as well as a bullet-proof vest can. He has a great endurance which allows him to keep at almost full activity for hours as well as amazing reflexes dexterity. Manipulation over the symbiote material can lead to camouflage, extending tendrils, creating shapes, detaching and throw parts of the suit (basically anything we see Carnage do)


Profile of character: Mark is gruff and serious. Between his years in the military and living on the streets much of his humor has died. He is skilled at filching items, and pickpocketing, as well as having a familiarity with many types of weapons and a general knowledge of tactics. Mark is in great shape now as he has been working mostly as Legacies which requires a great deal of effort and work. His work has varied but for the most part Mark attempts to give back to society after, as he sees it, having been a drain on it for so long. Legacies (the suit) on the other hand is very calm and relaxed, able to crack a joke at his leisure. It is unknown how old the suit is or what it's past was. But as far as Legacies is concerned it is apparently unimportant.

I'd say, because of this... increase the powers idea to about five...

If you think about it... look at Spider Man (voted best)...

Super strength/agility, Reflexes, Precog, Webbing, Improved/Regenerated Eyesight, etc.

That's five powers, loosely.

Power count is a bad way to do it. Capabilities matter, not how many powers you have.

The Hulk and the Thing have two and are powerhouses.

Doctor Strange and Magneto have one each. Or a thousand, depending on how you want to count it. They're both power houses.

I agree with Cynical. And for another example there's also a Green Lantern who only has one power but can quite frankly kick the ass of a lot of people. We should try to get a general feel for power rather than number based, it'll be a lot more even then. Of course we will then have to decide where about we want to stand on the scale.

Understandable. But on that note it's usually pretty easy to spot the ungodly powerful type. The ungodly versatile however are harder to spot, though I will admit that my character is pretty fucking versatile.

The World and a bit of History:

Since the early 1920's the costumed vigilante has appeared in history. First came the classic masked avenger of pulp comic fame, armed with only determination, wits and skill. Later came the titans of legend with powers beyond the ken of mortal man.

The world speculates wildly on the origins of these beings. Some point to evolution, other point to blessings or curses by assorted gods and demons. Some lay credit before the altar of science and speak of their pantheon of radiation and extraterrestrials. Other claim these beings were always among us and we have only now discovered them.

These 'super beings' have changed the world from the one we know simply by existing and yet it is still very similar in a multitude of ways. The World Wars and Vietnam still occurred. Hunger and prejudice and crime still plague the planet, even more so in some ways. Other subtle things have changed. Laws have evolved in response to the presence of super beings and both the just and the unjust have made use of them. Technology has seen innovations and directions of inquiry that never occurred in our world. Yet the 'Average American' might not immediately see a difference in his day to day existence given a comparison.

History:
Born and raised in New Orleans, he lived a good life - a home in the Garden District, a loving family, friends, anything a growing boy could ask. He and his parents kept a secret, he was born genetically different. Throughout his childhood, he never got sick, cuts healed in minutes, and broken bones in days, he could smell and hear things normal humans could never hope to.

At the age of 20, he lost everything. A fire broke out at his parents house when he was away one weekend, and they were both killed by the flames, and the house was left a blackened skeleton. One of the few things that was salvaged from the rubble was a wooden chest which escaped the ravages of the inferno with only a few burn marks. Within it, a ring with a green gem attached glowed soft, and a black colored, curved daggerlike weapon rested. He thought he heard the ring calling out to him, and reached for it. He blacked out after a bright flash....

That was ten years ago, since then, he left New Orleans, and taken up the role of the Shadow Ranger, dark hunter of those who endanger humanity...

Origin of Powers: Genetic Mutation and a magical artifacts

List of Powers: Green Lantern like abilities (energy manipulation, flight, life support force field, etc), short bursts of extra speed, heightened senses, regeneration

Description of powers:
The ring he wears at all timeson his right hand is a ancient magical artifact which allows him to tap into the inherent mystical energy of the universe and focused by his strength of will. Using the ring, he can create constructs of solid energy and energy beams. The ring is limited only by his imagination, and unfortunatly, he doesn't have much of a imagination. Though he can occassionally create more complex things like tools, in most combat situations, he keeps the power usage simple, swords, maces, shields, energy bolts, handcuffs, cages, etc.

The dagger like weapon, called the Dragon Saber, is capable of extending aextra foot in blade length, and channeling the mystical energy through it's blade, or for "drawing" it's signiture attack, Shadow Arrows. Simply put, these are "arrows" of mystical energy which hover in the airshortly after being "drawn", and fly out to strike the opponent.

The ring can also empower his form, allowing him to briefly obtain bursts of extra speed while in combat situations. This speedburst is often tuilized to escape a battle, or to close in on his enemy to gain the advantage.

His regeneration is powerful, in that he does not get sick, all but the most severe of injuries are healed within hours. His senses are heightened above those of a human being, his sense of smell is as sharp as a wolves, and his sense of hearing much like a cats. He also has a heightend sense of equilibrium.

Profile:
Silent for the most part, Lazarus works alone in his role as Shadow Ranger. He sees other Superpowered beings asthreats to the world at large, and those who are most blatant with thier powers, he hunts down. Though, he refuses to attack a weakened opponent, andhas even been known to tall temporary truces when a greater threat makes itself known.

For the mostpart, his operations have netted him with very few victories, and a host of assorted enemies, even within the Superhero community. He is brutal in combat, and often mocks his opponents. He has few skills beyond combat, interrogation and investigation, though he has built up contacts through the years with those who are inclined to assist him with whatever he needs.

His suit, for when he's on the job, is a form fitting, opaque material which does not restrict his movements. The Dragon Saber is worn in a sheath at his side, and a vest of sorts worn, which has a few runic patterns embossed upon it. The helmet he wears covers his entire face, created by the ring to conceal his identity, and not disrupt his heightened senses.

Real name:Dr. Alex Clarson in human form. In Were form it is Gomek
Hero name: The Avatar (short of The Avatar of Nature's Wrath but that is a bit long winded for every day use)

General body stats: Were From: 6.5 feet tall with an 8 foot tail.
Brown and black skin, snout yellow eyes. Weighs about 300 lbs

Human form, fairly average 5'11 175 lbs. Brown hair, yellow eyes (the one thing that gives him away)

History: Alex grew up in a rural area in Florida. His parents were distant at best and it was essentially the wild that raised him. When he went into town he would pick up books and papers on nature and biology, as well as philosophy mathematics chemistry and physics. By the age of ten he had a huge collection of books, all of which he had read multiple times.

When he was not reading, he was wrapped in the prestine beauty of nature. He would hunt and fish. And swim in the open water with the local gators, turtles and Cottonmouths. But no matter what happened, or how foolish he was in his wild excursions, they never harmed him. Not once did an Alligator so much as hiss at him, even when he got to close to their nexts and was handeling their offspring. He knew it was odd, but figured he just had a way with them and they knew he ment no harm.

He pretty much homeschooled himself and eneted USF two years early with a full academic scholarship after he had gotten a 1600 on his SATs and already published two papers on the community structure of gator holes (this actually might be something I work on for my Ph.D so....)

He graduated magna with a Honors B.S. in Biology at 19 and went on to persue a Ph. D in Zoology at Cornell which he completed at 23 and went back to working in the Everglades. Then at the age of 25 he ran across a group of poachers taking Alligator hatchlings illegally from their nest after killing their mother. The saw him, and were about to kill him when he flew into a rage. In seconds he had taken on an alternate form. That of a half human/half alligator (changed to gator because the only crocodile species that is local is a fish eater that wouldnt never harm a human. Gators sometimes take people...) he gew in size, and spouted a tail and snout with webbed feet claws and a thick scaley hide. They shot at him, but the water of the glade respnded to his need and rose up and froze, forming an frigid shield which protected him from their guns. The trees the came to his aid and wrapped their roots around their hands and angles and thrust them into the waters to be torn to pieces by waiting alligators turtles and small fish.

He has gained some measure of control over his ability to control and influence the natural world. He realizes that he has an amazing gift, and focuses it on helping the innocent, be they people, or nature. Currently he teaches vertebrate zoology and the University of Miami. He lives in the sticks in his field station and runs his small home off of solar power and a hydrogen fuel cell backup.

Origin of Powers: As far as he can figure it, nature got tired of the monumantal evil that human urbanization brings into this world. So he was chosen to stem the tide, and help humans AND the wild around them.

List of Powers : Shapeshifting into and out of full and half gator form, Nature Manipulation

Description of powers: Shapshifting powers are at will and last until he chooses to change into another form. The human form is his usual form for obvious reasons, and both crocodilian forms have everything that goes with them. Swimming, breath holding, bite pressure etc. Spells are limited to manipulation of nature and natural phonomonon.

Ability including but not necessarily limited to the following
1) Telekinetic control of water and air, incuding temperature and pressure. Not huge in scale. The biggest volume he can affect with this is eqivalent to a modest apartment
2) Plant growth and control. he can radically alter the growth speed of plants, and control the movement of plants. Well enough to make grass into effective grapplers.
3) Commanding animal behavior, as well as communicating with them.
4) weather manipulation. Can turn hail into rain, rain into hail or snow, can direct the strikes of lighting things of that nature.

Profile of character: Fairly athletic, able to swim very strongly even in his human form, run long distances and climb over just about anything that can be climbed. His scientific career is booming, as he seems to have amazing inslight into the behavior of crocodilians (I wonder why)

He has a Ph.D in zoology with everyting that entails. Including computer skills. research, use of various forms of scientific equipment and knowledge of biophysics biochemistry and anatomy.

As such without access to a power source (sunlight just don't cut it, he can't pull in enough to power much of any use) he's kinda screwed.

Powers: Control over gravity, up to and including warping local spacetime to produce gateways.

History: A college student when N-Day transformed his home Earth into a world where the God's Walked, Phil acheived his eruption almost instantly, and applied his vast knowledge of astrophysics to strengthening it. Capable of manipulating gravity on all scales, he pushed the boundaries instantly.

When the Teragen emerged, he joined the fringes as an intellectual who agreed with their basic premise.. Novas were not 'human', and were as close to gods as can be.. But disdained the violence and terrorist activites the faction caused. As time passed, he gathered like-minded Novas and created a splinter faction named the Olympians; Gods, to be sure, but benevolent ones.

As time ground inevitably to human-nova conflict, the Olympians clashed with all sides, over idealogy, misconceptions, and hotheadedness.

When the Aberrant War threatened to destroy human civilization, the Olympians scattered across multiverses, ignoring the other Novas going forth. Gravitas found a new Earth, and began wondering what to do with himself. But a new world means new beginnings.

DOB: Created in GenTest Chamer A-4 on 1-3-92, reached full age of Maturity and emerged from GenTest Chamer A-4 on 5-4-98.

General body stats: 6'7", 250lbs, Purple eyes. (OOC: to get an idea of what he looks like, well, just think of a cross between Mewtwo from the Pokemon series and a Protoss. Yeah, go ahead and laugh.)

History: Created by a faction in the US Government. Created to offer more control over the 'super beings.' However, once Niner was fully awakened for the first time as he was removed from his tube, he instinctually read the minds of the scientists and learned why he had been created. He learned he was made to defeat and contain 'super beings.' Knowing he was going to be doomed to a life of servitude with no say, he became angered and killed the science team and destroyed the facility.

Once free, he started hunting down the leaders and members of the faction that created him.

Origin of Powers: From creation.

Powers: TK, Telepathy, LoS Teleportation, and minor precog.

Description of Powers:

TK:Can lift a huge truck and hurl it at someone easily. Uses the TK to act as a shield and gives him flying abilities. Oh and can condense some form of energy into balls to hrul at enemies and then the balls exploded on contact.

Telepathy: Can pull surface thoughts easily when he wants to (but doesnt most of the time to keep sane), uses telepathy to communicate. Does not speak with his mouth. When he focuses, Most people find it to keep him out.

LoS Teleporation: Can only Teleport out to five hundred yards if the spot is in Line of Sight.

Minor Precog: Gives him a danger sense radius of about ten yards. Beyond that, he is like everyone else when it comes to warnings.

Profile: Slightly insane. His goal it to hunt down and kill every single person that had a hand in his creation. He will kill any normal or 'super' that gets in his way. Because of his appearence is so far removed from that of humans, he wears a brown cloak, that covers his entire body, with a hood that covers his head. Very few people (The number can be counted on one hand) that are not part of the Government faction know the truth about Niner, or where he comes from.
