Spelling and grammar aren't that important. This is real people typing here. They may not be grammatically correct. Some of them are, some aren't. Some people can't spell. Just because posts are made that way doesn't neccessary mean they need to be cleaned up.
The forums site isn't up yet because I haven't installed it yet. I'll get to it as soon as possible. I'm still in the process of trying to build everything up for you all. It's a work in progress that I'm accomplishing by myself at the moment. Give me time.

Alright, here's a refresher as to whats happened and the various government groups in different countries. Mainly as a reminder for use on the herowatch site. I'll post up a expanded timeline detailing the current events up till current in game time later tonight hopefully.
B4UTRUST wrote:Alright here's a bigger picture of what's happened in the world:
1920s: After the end of WWI many soldiers returning home from the front lines came home to another sort of war entirely. In the abscense of good people, the seedy underbody of the nation rose and spread its infection. This was the first occassion that seemed to truely give rise to those who became known as superheroes. Costumed vigilantes took to the streets to take them back. Police for the most part ignored this in the face of problems they themselves couldn't, or wouldn't, deal with.
1930s: The age of the costumed vigilante feel by the wayside, their job more or less done. The world went on as we know it. In the late 1930's a small comic corporation gave birth to a short-lived cultural icon that issued in, unknowingly, the new era of superhero.
1940s: World War II. The birth of some of the first 'known' superheroes. A few made themselves apparent on the battlefields of Europe while others first appeared in the United States itself. The foremost of these new breed of heroes was Captain Liberty. His appearance was a matter of much debate, was he a mutant, the product of some government experiment, what was he exactly? It would be decades before anyone found out the whole truth.
Superheroes began to pop up like mushrooms around the world, giving birth to a new era birthed in blood, midwifed by war and death. By the end of WWII various groups of likeminded "supers" had come together. In the united states the most recognized was the Order of Freedom. Over the years the roster for this team would change frequently. It would go through many changes and its limelight would fade drastically as other groups arose though it would remain till its final collapse over a half-century later.
During WWII and following with the aid of Operation Paperclip government research began to develop programs for augmenting the natural abilities of soldiers. This was headed under the title of Project: ASP, a joint venture by the DOD and DOJ. It was started in 1942 and continued under various project heads late into the 90's. It had various degrees of success, notably during the first few years with two groups: Strike Force Able and The Home Front.
On D-Day Captain Liberty took to the skies to defeat his german counterpart Ubermensch. Along with Strike Force Able the day was won.
1950s: Captain Liberty, along with others to include Lady Liberty and the Infinity Kid would defend America for the next decades to come. Project Asp was shut down in the early 50's after several enhanced agents went rogue.
1960s: During this decade the Order of Freedom underwent its first big roster change, jumping its numbers to nine with the inclusion of Dr. Killdare, Minuteman, Flux, Lightspeed, and a few others. The team concentrated on dealing with the increasing number of super-powered villians making their prescense known in the world.
Project ASP was revived for another set of experiments, the Defender series. It too was later aborted when the experiments managed to produce only three supersoldiers. Dr. Albrecht von Hausser convinced the DOD he could refine the serums used in the original experiments and produce a larger quantity of the soldiers. This stage was titled as Ares. It failed when sixteen of the eighteen soldiers died within a few months from an unknown form of cancer. Project ASP was shut down and all data and research transfered to the Department of Health under the Supers Study Program.
1970s: Several members of the OoF retired. Minuteman left after he failed to convince Captain Liberty to take the OoF into Vietnam. He went on to join Strikeforce and remained with them until the team was dissolved in '84
In '71 the Committee for Responsible Government announced the formation of the Supers Registration Movement. They believed that all supers, because of their abilities, were a threat to common people and should be registered to keep track of and regulate their activities.
Later this year a villian by the name of The Cardnial and his group the Dominators attempted to take over NORAD. Two teams of heroes, the Crusaders and the Sentinels were able to stop the Cardnial.
This event was used by Lucas Amberjohn, head of the SRM, to present evidence of a 'Supers' conspiricy, citing that the two super teams had covered up the truth that the Cardnial had in fact gained control of NORAD launch facilities prior to his removal. The government makes no official statement concerning Amberjohn's evidence, though an unnamed source was quoted as refering to Amberjohn as a crackpot and his evidence a complete fabrication.
Thanks to this evidence Amberjohn was able to announce that membership in the SRM had surpassed the million member mark by the end of the year. Amberjohn began to hold rallies to support pro-registration candidates for public offices and set up offices for the SRM in every major US city. He also began a weekly tv show broadcast in every city the SRM was in.
In '72 using his television show Amberjohn urged his followers to financially support law makers and politicans who supported stronger legislation in regard to supers. This resulted in several SRM backed candidates taking office at state and federal levels. Using his increased influence he pushed for federal legislation to back a agency to monitor supers.
The C.O. Radley Foundaion, named for deceased superhero Christopher Owen Radley, who had been known as The Crusader, took up the cause of defending law-abiding supers against the SRM.
In 1973 congress set up a committe to investigate the need to create a DoJ agency to monitor the activities of 'super' criminals and terrorists. The committe report suggested the creation of such a agency. In the same year President Nixon signed the Federal Security Service Act into law. Amberjohn appeared on tv proclaiming victory and praising the government for passing of the FFS law.
In '74 The Federal Security Service was created by the DoJ with Jonas Manfretti as director.
During this time, personel at the Supers Study Program convinced their superiors they could create the agents neccessary for the new agency. Project: Avenger rose from the ashes of Project: ASP. It was a huge success creating fifty supers, fourty of which were inducted into the FSS.
Amberjohn began a tour of the country, campaigning to put an end to Project: Avenger, stating that the government had betrayed the public's trust.
In '75 the Radley Foundation announced their official support of the FFS and both cautioned and urged the agency against abuse of its power. On the advice of some of his compatriots, Amberjohn softened his stance against Project Avenger.
'76: More candidates backed by the SPM gain power in various positions. However some candidates and politicians begin to distance themselves and refuse backing by the SPM. The Radley Foundation began lobbying for the formation of a coalition to block the SPM's influence in Congress. The biggest advocate of this was Senator Thomas Bolden who consistantly advocated for the rights of law-abiding supers.
By '77 a total of five groups of supers from Project: Avenger were put through FBI training in preperation for their service with the FSS. These groups were collectively under what became known as the Ultima Bureau. They fell under the names of Team Alpha through Team Echo. As of the mid-90's none of the original five teams are currently active and most are deceased. Team Bravo was seemingly misfated from the beginning where nearly half of their group died in the first mission.
Amberjohn began another tour of the country, this time calling for the creation of a prison for containing super criminals.
In '88 funding was diverted from Project: Avenger to Project: Panopticon. The FSS project, endorsed by both the Radley Foundation and the SRM was charged with the design and construction of a super-penitenitary. Two such facilities were created: Gramercy Island and Station Zero.
With the support of Senator Bolden strong headway is made within the FSS to make laws covering law-abiding supers. This marked the downslide of Amberjohn and the SRM. Very few SRM backed candidates succeeded in retaining office.
Early in '79, Elizabeth Radley-Gold, head of the Radley Foundation with the help of Senator Bolden put a bill through both the house and senate calling for rights and legalization of law-abiding supers. Amberjohn denounced the bill that would become known as the Radley-Gold Act.
The Radley-Gold Act mandated the establishment of databases for the credentialing of law-abiding supers and expanding the information stored in databases for cataloging, monitoring and tracking of criminal supers.
A special unit of the Department of Justice, the Office of Credentials, was setup to maintain both of the credentials databases. The office is answerable only to a special judicial panel appointed by the President with ultra secret security clearance. The Office of Credentials was the only federal office dealing with supers that did not get placed under the auspices of the Office of Supers Oversight in the aftermath of the Black Arion Arises incident.
The 80s: Project: Atlas, a illegal army-ran operation by a special projects group was started up. Using stolen research data from Project: Avenger the army created over a hundred supers before a GSA audit discovered its existance. The officers running the program were court-martialed and are serving sentances in Levinworth. The supers created 'disappeared' during the investigation. They would later turn out to be a military ran hero group under the name of Primus.
A group of teenagers calling themselves The Tomorrow Project appear in New York and begin their hero days by cleaning out the schools.
By the late 80's Project: Panopticon is announced complete and both remote facilities are operatoinal.
The supers from Project: Avenger are promoted to active duty in the FSS. The supers are sent to various cities to deal with problems.
In the beginning of the 90's a world-wide trajedy struck as a villianous group simply called Genocide rocked the governments of the world to their very cores. Genocide's team list read like a who's who of evil. Their intention was not to destroy or conquer the world, but simply to wipe out the superheros of it. They succeeded. The end result was millions dead, injured or missing, billions in damage and the deaths of nearly every major hero group world wide.
In perhaps the most shocking revelation in the aftermath of this tragedy was not that evil had apparently triumphed, but rather that it had been lead by one of good's own. Captain Liberty himself lead Genocide against the world. It ended up that Liberty's origins were still mostly unanswered but an investigation into his life revealed that he had been working with or for a otherworldy force of unknown origin. Genocide was one of the last crucial steps in readying the world for whatever force Liberty served. Fortunatly enough heroes survived to ensure that this didn't happen.
The government that had sponsered and believed in Liberty was given a black eye. To prevent this from happening an undertaking began to create an anti-super, a being under government control capable of taking out renegade and rogue supers. This was known as Project: Guardsman and it was disbanded in 94 following its failure.
Several new groups formed to fill the void that this loss had created.
The Red Guard formed in Russia, The Asahi in Japan, The Sentinels in Canada, The New Round Table in England. The UN sponsered a worldwide group known as Earth Force One. The US resurected the Ultima Bureau and began to recruit.
2000-now:
Life more or less returned to what amounted to normal in the later part of the 90's. 2000 did not bring about the end of the world as had been predicted. Life went on.
Then in 2001 trajedy struck once more. On September 11th a terrorist supers group calling itself the Black Arion Movement attacked nine major US cities.
In New York their target was the World Trade Center buildings. Ultima forces moved immediatly to combat the terrorists but failed to stop the collapse of the twin towers. Over 3000 perished from the towers. The terrorists furthered their attack into New York, taking as many civilians with them as possible in their path of destruction. The death toll was over 100,000 when it was all over.
In Chicago the Sears tower was struck and suffered major damage after one of the terrorists detonated a high yield bomb, wiping out several of the upper stories. Independent superheros rushed to the rescue and were able to prevent further damage to the tower and stopped the terrorists. Over 200 people were killed.
In Atlanta the Black Arion struck at the Cable News Alliance Tower. A group calling themselves the Southern Front were able to stop the terrorists before any major damage was incured, though they were able to destroy the broadcast center where over 100 died who were then reporting on the attacks in New York.
In Texas both Houston and Dallas suffered attacks as the Black Arions went after the Lonestar building and the Parris building. Both buildings survived though damaged. Hundreds perished in the struggle.
In California the Colony Building in L.A. and the United Mutual Pyramid in San Fran were struck. The Colony building collapsed but was evacuated prior to that by independent heroes. The Pyramid suffered minor damage.
In Boston the Fleet Building was struck. Thanks to the New Americans and Warhawk catostrophe was averted. Only a few dozen were injured and only one death was reported. Warhawk at the last moment managed to get a hold of the the terrorist bomber and flew away with the the terrorist before he could blow the building. The result was the death of the terrorist and Warhawk.
In Washington, D.C., there were two intended targets, the White House and the Pentagon. A super carrying two massive tanks filled with what was later determined to be jet fuel flew into the Pentagon at high speed. More than 400 people were killed in the attack including the Black Arion terrorist. The attempted attack on the White House took place fifteen minutes after the attack on the Pentagon. Officials theorize that it was timed to take advantage of the chaos that had ensued after the Pentagon attack. A second super carrying two massive tanks filled with jet fuel tried to conduct an attack like the one on the Pentagon. However, he was intercepted by a hero by the name of Pulsar and died in a huge mid-air fireball while en route to the White House.
In the wake of the destruction of 9/11 sweeping changes were made. All projects and agencies involved with supers were transfered under the Office of Supers Oversight.
The total damage to New York was unimaginable. The destruction was nearly complete. On the ruins a new city was built in a matter of years. The city became named Millennium City, a high-tech glittering metropolis.
In the current year of 2010 life has once more returned to what amounts to normal. But evil is on the rise once again, supervillans are once more plotting their schemes of world domination. To combat this a new group of heroes must arise to combat this menace.

I can't take full credit.
It was Cyn via Blackheart's mentioning of herowatch.com in game that inspired me to actually do it. Seemed like way too good of an idea and a great way to drop plot hooks and tidbits to expand the world. So give some bonus points to Cyn as well.
I would have gone with the suggested herowatch.com but it was already registered as some stupid spam link site. I suppose I could have offered to buy the domain from the guy but didn't feel it was worth the effort when herowatch.org was just as good and available.
The forums link does not work, I know, but it will be up by this weekend hopefully. I'm trying to coordinate things with Destructinator so that when we do the install it doesn't interefere with our main forum in any way. So it'll take a few more days. Then I plan to preseed it with some starter conversations, debates, etc for you all to work against and then give you all the fake accounts (remember, though, no telling).
You may or may not notice but I have adjusted all dates and times in the news articles to reflect in game time. All of them read as 2010 along various months, etc. The same won't be possible with the forums as the software uses the server's clock to calculate the times. Therefore all of those will read as 2008. Kinda breaks the illusion a bit, I know, but just try to overlook it.

This means of course that the Superheroes game is gonna need some wiki entries in the LAwiki if it's still useable. If it is, PM me on how to make an entry, I got a week free and I'm willing to use it.

There is. It just requires a bit of tinkering with how the page acquires the date and time.LadyTevar wrote:Pity there's no way to program it to add +2years to the datestamp.

You've got phones. If you want to know Blackheart's opinion, you can, you know, ask.

Rheonix is right. I'm sure we could find a way to manipulate the database to add the time needed, but I don't know how. I'll talk with destructinator to see if it can be done.
Also, for the news articles right now it's open signup. If you need me to create accounts for you I can quick create accounts without verification or emails needed. So just PM or IM me the username/display name you want and I'll put it all in for you.
I like the banter in the comments so far. It's all looking really good and really starting to develop for what little there is right yet.

Well, alternatively, look for the date() tag in the php section of the page. Basically you'll have to add a variable or two for the modified date (like with current year +2 or something), but then you can force the pages to use the modified date.

In case you guys are dense, I convinced B4 to give Argent an account on HeroWatch, and she's a long-time member and participated in all Guardians discussions. On the subject of Saibot, she's always said he was a 'shadow' or 'ghost' of the White Guardian.
After the trail, she's been quiet about the matter.

Please Blackheart has such a bug up his *coughs* that he would want to go to Vegas to try and pick your scent.
Course considering you held a sword to Blast's throat. stabbed Argent and dropped a street on Gravtis it might be that bug is a wee bit justified.
