Ok since Bazookas aren't around yet...

Are personnel mortars around yet? That's the only thing I could think of him even possibly thinking of.

Mortars have existed practically as long as cannons have. I was talking about personnel mortars, the kind that are easily portable and usable by like two people.

The Japanese had a one man "knee motor" that was first issued in the 30s. It was designed to be fired while resting on a thigh. Course they fucked up the math and if you actually did that it would break your damn leg. The Japanese simply adapted by slamming them into the ground and firing them. I learned this right after boot camp in a tour of the Marine museum!

If they have that, I imagine the US had a two man motor by WWII. Especially since they been working with Autobots.

The US had infantry mortars dating back to WWI. By 1940, the US had both the famous M1 81mm infantry mortar (which was designed for three-person operation), and the M2 60mm mortar, a lighter-weight version that was carried by one person and employed by either one or two.

The 81mm is light only in the sense it is not as heavy as a real cannon. Motherfucker is a backbreaker. The 60 isn't really all that fun either but it's no where near as bad as the 81 in my mind.

True, the 81 weighs something on the order of 130 pounds if my sources are correct. It was designed to be broken up into three parts and carried by three men. I believe, though, that the 60 mortar is light enough for one man to carry.

I made no secret that the PC's primary antogonist in the Eastern Front war would be Blitzwing and the Combaticons....

Havoc, almost all Panzer IIIs had a relatively long barrelled, high velocity gun (save for some late war variants). Not that this would get through the front armour of a T-34, let alone a Cybertronian tank. It's the Mark IV that had a low velocity short barreled gun in most of its early incarnations.

 Sorry, made a mistake there with my Panzer models. Quite embarrassing.

And I took "overconfident" as a weakness for Cavalier. I fully intend to play by the letter of that. Even a normal T-34 could easily smash a handful of unarmored trucks and halftracks and shrug off hits from a Pz38 or a low velocity short-barrel Panzer IV. Cavalier is not a Bolo, but he thinks he is one.

Yes, this is liable to get him beaten out of recognition by all manner of horrible things.

No, but why a German gun? The British created quite serviceable weapons in roughly the same size. The Germans used captured ones with enthusiasm.

The Krupp is the one I know, mostly. If there's a similarly sized Brit gun I'll use that.

The QF 3.7 AA gun (94mm instead of 88) is roughly equivalent. The mounting sucked, which meant it wasn't as effective as the 88mm, but that's not an issue with one that's been converted into a big Cybertronian's rifle.

I thought the british classified their guns by shellweight. Is that the 6-pounder? Or the 25?

They classified some of their guns by shell weight, but not apparently the AA guns. That's shell diameter in inches. Probably closer to 25 pounds, if the Sherman Firefly was packing a 17 pounder.

Well the British 25 pound AT gun was a pretty nasty piece of work. It could put a hole straight through almost anything short of a King Tiger at range.

The tanks I'm blowing apart though... Panzer IIIs were armed with 37mm AT guns, which were as effective against a T-34 as thrown rocks. Early-model Panzer IVs with the short-barreled 50mm were anti-infantry tanks, and couldn't seriously threaten the T-34 either, let alone a Cybertronian T-34. There's a famous story from July of 1941 when Heinz Guderian (the German Tank expert) was brought to see a T-34 that the Germans had captured. The damn thing had been hit nineteen times by German tank fire, with no penetrations or disabling shots, and it wasn't until they had lured it into range of an 88 that they took the thing out.

Smashing up a tank company like that is one thing. Once the 88s actually get into the game, I'll be in big trouble, as an 88 at this stage of the war was like the finger of God. It simply cut through every armored vehicle of every nation in the entire world.
