What are the rules on equipment? Can we buy anything we can afford, or are there availability restrictions?
Have a very nice day.

Anything you can afford; you are on a heavily-trafficked military base en route to the Front, and you've just come from the highly civilized center of Sector Calixis. Once the adventure gets underway, availability might become an issue- but for your starting gear, go crazy.
I might raise an issue over really specialized shit like psycannons or power-armour, but I doubt those would be in your cost range anyway.

Can we trade in unwanted starting equipment, or are we stuck with it?

You may. You are experienced treason-hunters and witch-slayers, assumed to have had time to build up personal stashes of gear during your past service.fgalkin wrote:Can we trade in unwanted starting equipment, or are we stuck with it?

Gentlemen!
I welcome Nikostratos Ephesion Manorov Kibal, a fine scion of the fabled Houe Merrne, into the service of His Holy Inquisition.
It's time to get serious. You know the rules; you know what you need to do. I am starting the game this Thursday at 2 in the PM, EST. It is your duty to complete your character sheet by then and submit it in this thread. Anyone else who is interested in playing, you have until then- we have room for 2 more players, and as many subs or alts as care to join.
Let us be about our business, friends! The heretic wastes no time; neither can we.

So far we have a Mechanicus adept and a Noble cleric; Frigidmagi and Academia Nut have yet to post characters, so you might want to talk to them about their plans to make sure you have a well-rounded group. No psykers so far, however...

Silly question: do we all get microbeads from our Inquisitor, or do we buy our own? Should I even bother, considering some people don't even have them?
Speaking of the Inquisitor, could you tell us more? We're supposed to be working for this person for a some time.
Have a very nice day.

<<SUBJECT: Falkenberg, Gudrun Angelina Tambrine>>
<<ROSETTE ID: (CENSORED)>>
<<HISTORY: Born (CENSORED) ------------------------------- (CENSORED) ----------------------------------- (CENSORED), hired on Scintilla by Inquisitor Valdine Beriastus after successfully assisting the Inquisitor during the (CENSORED) (Case ID 29420433KL) Service under Valdine continued for over fifty years, during which Acolyte Falkenberg continued to distinguish herself. Her involvement with (CENSORED) and (CENSORED), along with her notable successes during the Sandoval revolts (Case ID 473721136GM) netted her a promotion to the rank of Interrogator. Beriastus was slain in suspicious circumstances during the aftermath of the Third Eye cult's extermination on Malfi (Case ID 912303021GD). Her successful discovery of the culprit, a rival (CENSORED) --------------------------- (CENSORED) ----------------------------------- (CENSORED) ---------------------------------------------- (CENSORED), and as a result, her promotion to full Inquisitor was unanimously approved by a convocation of (CENSORED), (CENSORED), and Inquisitor Dain Dar Er Kafa, after less than a century in the service of the Ordos. Her career has been spotless if somewhat uninspiring. Due to allegations of (CENSORED) and concerns surrounding the death of Inquisitor Beriastus, much of her career saw her engaged on assignments beyond the normal working-grounds of the Ordos. Her most famous exploits took her to the edge of the Halo Stars, where her efforts against the secessionist heretics on Glenmorangie (Case ID 5739203431SW) won her close friendships with the Scintillan noble families which had bankrolled the colony. Further successes in the Balchian subsector saw her successfully put down the Bloody Memory cult (Case ID 5823920001OL) on Fornos, a mission for which she received an invitation to join the [CENSORED} from (CENSORED) on account of the (CENSORED) nature of the uprising, and the aplomb with which she handled the dangers involved. Her most recent missions took her to the Scintilla subsector, where for the last five decades she has focused largely on tracing corruption and political heresy among the upper classes on some of the mightiest worlds in the Calixis Sector. It has been during this campaign that her most recent team of Acolytes (SEPARATE FILE) have been gathered. With her discovery and execution of the ringleaders of the Seventy Year Fiscal Heresy (Case ID 39212000ZA), her attentions have again returned to Subsector Balchia, where she is investigating irregularities among the command-chain of Marshal Braganca's armies. >>
<<METHODS: Unlike many Inquisitors, Falkenberg has made no great effort to build a private network of mansions and holdings. Her largely migratory nature has made such efforts useless. Instead, she cultivates relationships with powers with subsector-wide reach, reasoning that so long as the arms of her friends are long, so will be hers. Her choices in selecting servants and acolytes has matched this trend, as her highly mobile nature sometimes necessitates the dispatch of trusted teams far from her direct control. This capacity to delegate power served her well during her investigation of the Seventy Year Fiscal Heresy; during which her capacity to operate on multiple worlds at once through a network of highly mobile followers allowed her to survey and destroy a distributed network of crooked arms suppliers.>>

OOC: Oh, and I recommend you all get earbuds, but you'll have to pay for them!
As you can guess, Her Ladyship will not be working closely with you. The details around that shall become more clear once the plot begins.

Kicking the enemies of the Emperor, and doing it in style! :D
In case you're wondering why I need a good pistol and an autogun, I am staying in character, since our friend the noble cleric doesn't go out to war zones much, and thus a pimped-out Hecuter is usually sufficient. In this case, however, the situation calls for more firepower, and thus, the autogun.
Have a very nice day.

fgalkin: just be aware that the hecuter is not so incredibly badass anymore, due to the errata gimping it. See here. Also, man-stoppers have been edited slightly as well, they only increase Pen to 3, rather than increasing it by 3.
That is, of course, if we are playing with all errata'd rules in effect. I defer to the GM for this ruling.

The Hecuter is a murder machine even with the penetration removed. It's still reliable and does 1d10+3 instead of 1d10+2 damage with a just slightly smaller magazine than a standard autopistol. And you can still load it with Manstopper ammo. One of the assassins in my table top group uses twin Hecuters and deals out massive amounts of carnage.
If you don't use the errata it can have a higher penetration than a bolt pistol with a larger ammo capacity, full autofire, much cheaper ammo, and slightly inferior damage per shot. Does that sound like an accurate representation of the 40K universe to you?
Thirdfain, if you'll allow it, I'd like to join the group and play as a Scum Metallican Gunslinger.

Accepted; any players from now on are alternates. Keep in mind, gentlemen: once the game starts on Thursday, expect to post every day! If you need time off for whatever reason, give me a day or two's warning. I intend to keep the action moving (I've pre-written tons of material, with the expectation you lads won't necessarily follow my plot plans,) do your best to keep up.Cynical Cat wrote: Thirdfain, if you'll allow it, I'd like to join the group and play as a Scum Metallican Gunslinger.
Edit: with regards to the errata, I'm following those rules, but hopefully it won't matter...

Well, since there seems to be no objection to the use of the starting worlds in the Inquisitor's Handbook, I shall assume that Dusk is allowed. I shall thus roll my starting insanity and corruption along with my fate points, which I forgot before.
