Yeah, I was wikilinking and read a bit about the history of Vietnam. Much greater appreciation of why they fought with such tenacity; the US was just another face in a long line of aggressors.

They were fighting before we got there. They fought while we were there. They fought after we left. All our military might was nothing but another chapter in the half-century long War of Indochina.
