#1 Milton Friedman, dead at 94

Post by Mayabird »

I'm not sure what articles to link to, as there are currently thousands that I can see.

You probably know who he is. Economist, free market capitalism. I read his book Capitalism and Freedom for one of my classes.

Discuss?

Storytime update 8/31: Frigidmagi might be amused by this one.

I don't know anything about him. Seriously.

Beyond that he was a proponent for Free Market economics, that's the extent of my knowledge.

I actually know who he is....But links are nice :)

His theory is mostly right- a free market can handle itself well.
On the other hand, I do believe that pure capitalism is bad- Milton's theory "forgets" people with physical difficulties, or people who grew in a bad socioeconomic condition and cannot help themselves.Without the help of the government, those people would never be able to help themselves find a job or educate their children-other people would never do what the government does (or should do :P).
Of course, too much help from the government can affect those people negatively, but SOME help is needed.
