X-COM is out. X-COM is good. I got three hours of sleep last night. Yeah, I remember this feeling...

Oh yeah, me too. Firaxis nailed it. I am officially impressed, as well as short on sleep myself.

I'll wait a while until I've actually finished Borderlands 2 before checking it out. I never played the original, but I was fond of a tactical turn-based game called Wages of War, and an acquaintance assured me that it was just an updated version of X-Com.

(Note: do not precede entry into houses with frag grenades while on hostage rescue missions. That was one sadly splattered millionaire heiress and one somewhat miffed millionaire. Who knew she'd be running around in the entryway of the main estancia?)

CynCat, Karrick, and Hotfoot are dead.

Col. Frigid Magi, our first veteran, our best heavy weapons operator, and our first Psychic Warrior, now leads Col. General Havoc, Major. Rhoenix, and Cpt. Marcao with the aid of other scarred soldiers in defense of Earth.

I have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed in the multiplayer options for the soldiers. I was hoping for a system as detailed as the one in singleplayer, but sadly, you can't select specific experience levels or perks, just perk packages. You also don't seem to be able to customize their appearance, which also blows. Oh well, hopefully a patch will fix that.

In true SG-X fashion, I'm oversupplied with colonels...

Obviously an army of the post-Civil War South. 'Colonel General Havoc' says it all.

Sounds like the Red Army more than the Confederates. Either one bodes ill for my continued survival. Hopefully Rhoenix will be distracted by shiny bullets long enough to absorb them for me.

Not the Confederacy, but the whole 'Every man a colonel' routine.

Here's hoping that your inevitable demise is quick and relatively painless!

Those Bastards... They've made me an officer. Welp. We're doomed.

I only share those with people who irritate me with their very existence.

Don't worry, as a fully qualified ballistic medical technician, I give out free samples so you can see if high-velocity reprimands are right for you. I can say with my full ballistic medical full authority that high-velocity reprimands are right for everyone.

I made a key mistake that has cost me a bit. I didn't cycle out my guys on ops well enough and bring in flesh blood to train up. As a result during the near disastrous assault on the alien base I lost 3 colonels and a major, though my alloy SHIV and another colonel did manage to take out the commander despite numerous injuries. An unfortunate Crysalis ambush forced me to seek higher ground that ended up being overwatched by some floaters who took the opportunity to smack me around a bit. Two heavy colonels, a support major and an assault colonel fell to the ambush with my sniper colonel and my alloy shiv managing to hold out and take out the defenders and finally press on to take the commander. Had to take him dead rather than capture but you get what you can get.

Hard but fair, sir, that's what the men always say about you, we do.

Final Mission, Frigid was brought low by an ethereal, dying but not dead, and White Haven sacrificed himself for the good of mankind. In the end, we don't know if Havoc and the rest of the team stopped to save their erstwhile commander, but the job is done.

Earth is safe.

For now.

As my last act of psionic godhood, I teleported Frigid to the Skyranger. And promoted him again. Take THAT.

Wait...

You promoted me? To a General?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I knew you had it in you, sir.

First in line to apply for the glory of driving your limo. Surely your name will go down such luminaries as Fredenhall, Clark, or the sainted Gates. (Horatio, not Bill. Bill would be silly.)

I swear by my faith in justice, Josh. I will find a way to space you. Even if I have to build the bloody spaceship my own damn self! And right before I kick you out of the airlock? My final words to you?

"You deserved this, sir."

And you will KNOW that karma is a bitch!

You should just promote him.

It'd be easier, ultimately.

Oh you bitch.

He never would've figured that one out on his own.
