#1 DNS cache

Post by The Minx »

How do I clear my DNS cache on Windows Vista?

Thnx

EDIT: apparently, I'm supposed to run a command "ipconfig /flushdns" on the command prompt, which I can get by using Start > Run and then typing "cmd" + Enter.

My problem is that I can't find the "Run" option in my Start menu.

If Vista is anything like 7, that's because it isn't labeled. You should have a text input box at the bottom of your 'start' menu. Go there, type in cmd, hit enter, and you should be set.

Clearly, you need the help of a Dalek.

Alternatively, do a search for "cmd," and when you see the entry for it, right-click and select "Run As..." to run cmd as the administrator. That should let you clear the cache.

Err-Dalek assistance would mean the operational term is 'EXTERMINATION' and I have to admit that this is the first time I've seen the term 'elevation' in context with Windows system operations but rhoenix definitely has a point about maybe the problem being you having to run it with administrator privileges (as someone who does that by default due to being the sole user anyway and having those privileges anyway I tend to overlook that aspect a lot).
